Re: Tool Tips -- rectangular holes
I don't have a nice graphic, but I drill a hole just inside the corner of 2
opposing corners then use a coping saw to cut just inside the outline I
make on the metal surface. If needed I touch the

Thank you Greggory for compiling a VERY informative and easy to read document.? As a licensed amateur since age 16 (and building my first radio at age 9 - Am 68 in a few weeks time), I do not believe

Re: ?BITX: Documentation
Karsten, I have created a mini builder's manual for the ubitx, it just basically compiles the assembly instructions and firmware functions into a pdf file for easier reading. Hopefully this helps you

Re: PSK31 ghosts below my signal
I re-read your note, and I may have made a mistake.
I wasn't running psk when I did the carrier test.
I just pulled the pill bottle mic apart and used the PPT and? shorted the mic element to

Dan,
Bad choice unless you plan only CW.? That design was never for SSB.

Note that the ubitx has only one control that changes configuration, that push button in the encoder. Press that once, a menu comes up, use the tuning knob to select the function, then press

Re: 80m hexfet power amplifier by W7ZOI
Dan.,? I would be very concerned about using it without redesign for SSB use.? That diode to? the gate of the Mosfet is designed to be pumped low and keep the gate off during part of the cycle.?

Re: PSK31 ghosts below my signal
yep. It means your audio input is putting that crud on the modulator and it's showing up on the air because of that.
Can you borrow a scope? ;)

so I hit the PTT, counted a 3 seconds, and shorted the high side mic to ground.
Here is resultant pic.? Essentially I can't see much of a difference between the two states.
So this shows the carrier

Re: v4.3 Firmware
Thanks for assistance, Jack Purdum. I found one of your previous answers here on the group, where you explain how to put together those 7 files from the source code. The problem is solved.

Re: PSK31 ghosts below my signal
A very quick test for you to try. Try keying your radio and then *short*
the audio input. It won't hurt a thing but if the crud goes away
then you know it's something you are injecting on the audio

When you go to the directory where the IDE is install, what directories to you see? Also, copy the first three or four error messages and post them here. "Tons of errors" doesn't tell me much.

Re: PSK31 ghosts below my signal
Diane and Gordon --
I'll read up and follow instructions for alignment and do the SSB receiver test.
Would the relay/inductor replacements help me here? Or are these different issues?
Thanks so

Re: v4.3 Firmware
Isolate the first error message and work through resolving that. Once that
is solved
many of the subsequent errors should go away.

The black wires go to the ground terminal on the jack. There brown wires go to one side of the power switch. You supply a wire (maybe you have some left over from trimming other wires) from the other
