I have had success in selecting a section of the schematic on my desktop, enlarging it and printing that section. I did it with the Q14 Q15 section for ease of viewing and a help in troubleshooting. This section does have 2 known wiring diagram errors however. Trying it on my iPad resulted in fuzzy copies. 73

Ordered 16th December and arrived in Germany just 24 hours after shipping and now at last Red Letter Day, it took the Customs in Leipzig 2 weeks but finally cleared customs and I have my UBitx.

Try zooming your browser while looking at the hfsignals BITX40 Circuit Description page.? At 150% it's quite legible.? You can also right click on the schematic, save the images, and print them.

Same as B40. I have used the standard pot so that I can use the 1/4" shaft knobs.
Almost any audio taper pot from 5k-50K(A) should work. You could repurpose from
some speaker amp or defunct audio equipment.

What is the shaft size on the provided audio pot in the uBITx?? It was 0.16 in the BITx40 but pictures of the uBITx parts make me think it might be different in the the uBITx.? I'm trying to get all the parts that I have to provide together before the kit arrives, and this knob is of interest.

Hello all,

Replaced D7, then found fuse blown. Replaced fuse, applied power, and raduino display lights up.? Rotating the tune pot changes frequency.? Only problem that is evident now is an intermittent connection at the power input.? I can replace that and see where we go from there.? Again thanks to Raj.

Thanks Raj, I did indeed find that D7 was blown.? I unsoldered it from the board and tacked a 1N4148 in its place, paying due heed to the polarity of the diode.

I had taken the raduino and its display unit out of the BITX40 and connected it to my computer USB port.? It lit up and behaved as it should.? When I put it back into the BITX40, it does not light up so I have now to track the voltage path and find where it is getting blocked.

Just another day of fun detective work in this antipodean paradise.

Hi again.
I think also the hardware hack version can save space by moving the keyers to dedicated digital pins freed up from the LCD to I2C mod. we can then remove all the analog input calibration code...

Hi Ian,
Yes, I did run out of space. I removed some code for the default HAM BANDS and that allowed me to include the extra for the I2C lCD and TPA2016...
We need to test the hardware hack for the voltage meter for EPROM saving on poweroff then reduce the code more... lots to do...
Great work from you so far, well done on an excellent version of the FW for the uBITX.

After checking the voltage on Qx inputs, I discovered that the radio is in transmit mode.? It went to receive with sound when I pull the PTT connector wires.? The mic/ptt is wired wrong.? Time to review and perhaps start from scratch on that part.

Thanks to Raj for his useful advice.

I have just pulled the raduino out of my BITX40 and plugged it into the USB port on my PC and voila! everything lights up the way it should so neither the raduino nor its display appear damaged from my stupidity.? So now to check D7 and maybe other components on the main board.
