Saw the pic of the IC25 at your link. A cool project would be to utilize the rest of the stuff on the front panel for your B40.

Tinny sounding electric miss on uBitx
Mike Lichtman
I was trying various electret mics with my uBitx today. Most of them sound very tinny lacking midrange and bass.?
This raises several questions: 1. is it me or do others find the transmitted sound is tinny when monitoring in another rcvr? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?2. Short of an equalizer on the mic input what can be done? A cap, if so what value ?.05 ? and where? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?73 Mike KF6KXG |

I just measured a board. It's 4.9" x 4.7 x 1.1. You can shrink the 4.7 down to 4.5 with a different heat sink. It'll be a tight fit. Vince. On 02/10/2018 10:59 PM, VE7WQ wrote:

Hello,
I'm planning to re purpose my flaky Icom IC-25/AE (5"x5"x2") mobile rig, for the BITX40 with Raduino I ordered. I need to know, if it would fit in it's 2" deep box. Thanks. George, VE7WQ |

Fast Tune works by observing the rate at which the user is turning the encoder. The timing and tuning rates are set with #define starting around line 64 of the attached files. For me, if the encoding is pulsing faster than once per 100ms, I'm doing a Fast Tune. Slower than that and I'm just tuning around. Read the code in loop() to figure out how to use it. You will need to put both files in your project subdirectory. Hello all! I received my bitx40 last wednesday (total newcomer).
Thanks Jerry! I had the issue of the broadcast station at los volume setting but after soldering a 10nF capacitor between cursor and ground of the volume potentiometer, the station dissapeared! ? Thanks for the advice!? 73 de OA4CKN, at grid FH17lw. |

Pin 5 & 8 MUST have 12v if your board is connected to power supply 12v. No 12v means RX will not work.. Pin no 1 (Square pad) can have 12v ONLY on TX. I suspect that you are not measuring properly or counting the pins wrong... cant be this way off. Raj At 11-02-2018, you wrote:
ok now that I slept for 12 hours doing better. ok square pad # 12v---pin #3 no volts---pin5 no volts---pin8--0 volts----pin#9--no volts---pin#12---12 volts---pin #14 12 volts---pin #16--12 volts. hop that is correct. with PCB & Radunio unplugged measured connunity, connunity ok. checked k3 no voltage on any pins on receive. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Chris, HFSignals Team replied to my enquiry in 3 hours. "Yes, We have received your payment of USD 59.? The order will be shipped in 3-4 days.? Tracking details will be updated once the shipment is done." Sounds like they have it in stock. Do you know how deep a box I need for the BITX40 with Raduino?? Blown by nearby transceiver
#bitx40help
After doing some tests with the rig, I made the mistake of transmitting near the Bitx40 with an ICOM 725 with a badly isolated tuner,
?
A quick flash, smoke, and the bitx40 that was only on, no antenna connected, died. No more tranmission or power output.
?
What components should I start checking or replacing? Regards, Eduardo |
Re: Strong carrier on transmit.

Dale Brooks KG7SSB
Hi Bob, the diode package you are talking about was substituted for the 2 diodes and pot with the thought that the packaged diodes were a very good match and the pot was not necessary. My BITX40 came the same way and I haven't had any issues with a strong carrier. I have built this circuit on a home brew rig and used two individual diodes and pot with better results than the BITX without the pot adjustment. But, you shouldn't be getting a strong signal on the output without audio. If you have a scope check the mic audio amp circuit and make sure that there is no oscillations with the mic disconnected. You can also check the input to the diode package legs(D20) and see that you are getting equal signal on both diodes. It's possible that one of the wires on the transformer is not making a good contact on the board. It will be a 12mhz signal from the carrier oscillator input.? I'm sure others will have more ideas and tests you can perform to isolate this problem. Good Luck and let us know what's happening. The carrier was 20 over on monitor receiver.? No it wasn't feed back from the mic. I looked at the balanced modulator circuit on the board and discovered that D15 and D16 and the 100 ohm trim pot we're not in the circuit. But a dual diode D20 was there. Could someone explain this modification and if anyone else has had this problem. Will see if any DC is getting back into modulator.? Thank you Bob WB2TFG |
