Don't know if it will help but it may.

I ordered on the 9th of Dec. and they told me it will be shipped today or tomorrow the 15th...

Ahhh bummer. I'm in the same boat it seems -- no update to the Paypal with tracking. I guess that means I won't be getting it before Xmas. Was hoping to get it set up over the break, but I'll live.

Hi,

thank you for your answer :-)

Where can i find more Details about the LPF mod?

Re: SDR dongle for spectrum analyzer with signal from Bitx40?

Haha!? Right, I've got the RTL-SDR Blog dongle.

Or I could use someone else's...

Re: BITX40 - frequency spectrum - Raduino irradiation - intermodulation products - #bitx40help

Hi Raj,

thank you for your answer :-)

Is this only possible by RV1 / RV136?

?

Frank

?

Maybe use a cheap dongle and a power meter until you're confident in the switch??

Re: BITX40 - frequency spectrum - Raduino irradiation - intermodulation products - #bitx40help

Did you do the LPF mod? I had to add the cap on the bottom of the board.

Re: BITX40 - frequency spectrum - Raduino irradiation - intermodulation products - #bitx40help

Frank,

If you have spare IRFs around try this.

Slowly increase the final quiescent current and see!

Raj

Do any of you have a solution ?

I am trying to get some good pictures of where I think beginners might stumble. For example, I have a blowup of the stereo connectors from the bottom showing the GND, RING, and TIP connections. Same for the volume control and encoder. Al Peter, AC8GY, is a great photographer and I'm trying to get him to shoot the photos. He did this one for me, which shows the ?BITX as it comes out of the box.

The more I get into the review, the more I think it needs to be published quickly, so I may go with CQ magazine. QST has a very long lag right now. The downside is the size of the audiences. Still not sure where to try and get it published...

Jack, I also look forward to your review of the uBitx. More high res pictures is good also. Thanks.

I see someone had ordered on the 9th and received already, I also ordered on the 9th and
have not received the kit or any word from DHL.

Well, I listened on 80M and things were jumping. I don't have an antenna for 80M so I can't attest to that, but you're going to love this radio. I got the rig as a Beta tester for Ashhar, but it did come DHL. I've never had a problem with them.

Hi Jack, have you tried 75/80 meters? I'm hoping it's sensitive there as I want to use it by my bedside at night. Also, you must have chose the DHL shipping option, In hindsight I wish I had done that, I have had so many bad experiences with DHL I just decided not to ship that way:-( Twice they have lost my packages in Germany.

I think most would have the SDR dongle attached to the computer outside the Bitx's enclosure, so they could use the dongle with other antennas for different applications.?

I was going to run the coax from the cap/tap on the PCB to a BNC panel mount on the exterior and then connect the SDR at will. For example, I may not want to bring the SDR, computer, and monitor while doing POTA.

The really cheap SDR dongles (meant for DVB-T television reception, $10) can get down to 30mhz without a downconverter (as I recall).
They only have an 8bit A2D converter, so reception with the uBitx receiver would have much more dynamic range.
The uBitx has a 45mhz first IF which should be within reach for the DVB-T dongle for displaying a spectrum of what's in the band,
tap in the dongle just prior to the 45mhz crystal filter so you can see more than a few khz worth.? Downside is this may inject a lot of hash
into the uBitx receiver, good luck getting rid of that.? Maybe a buffer amp of the 45mhz IF inside the uBitx enclosure, a coax going out
to a separate box for?the dongle?

What would be the advantages of using anything else for RX?? (I'm kinda new at all this.)

And if one is going to set up a spectrum analyzer that (from what I understand from the original post) picks off the incoming signal inside the BitX, why not just use the SDR for RX?
