All:

I've been buried lately: our hamfest was last weekend and FD was this weekend and as an officer of our club, I haven't had a moment to do anything on the B40 project. I will be working on it this week.

Dial is locked

EA3IAV

since I installed a swr meter kit i get this message randomly when I ptt
the only thing the swr has to do with the pcb is a bypass with the antenna circuit. Swr kit has a switch and when it is turned on it is ok. It works normally although it takes a little bit of power down. But when turned off I get that "dial is locked"

i have unplugged all cw wires but the ptt sensor just to check but same issue

Re: Raduino error to solve

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

But if the software compiles in IDE it is not the library but the connections.

?

We used this connection setup:

?

This should do it. There are 3 connections on the encoder pot, these are for the frequency increments.
The other 2 are for the push button function for the step size.

Re: Raduino v1.16 with CW-SPOT function released

Wow .. talk about great service ... I was just about to suggest that a SPOT function might be a great addition for CW.

?What I was also thinking is that it would be great if the tuning step size could be reduced when in CW mode so that rather than the
usual 100 Hz it is 50 Hz or even 10 Hz. Perhaps just when SPOT is enabled or maybe either with SPOT or RIT while in CW mode?
If their is code space maybe this could be made configurable in SETTINGS??

The only other feature that I think might be useful would be an option to enable Frequency Lock manually. ?I know that Allard has done this automatically
during TX, but I was thinking that would be useful on RX when operating portable or mobile. I have noticed that since I installed a 10 turn pot that it is much
easier?to bump the tuning off frequency. Even though I think this would also be useful on CW, perhaps one option to consider would be to use the same?
switch for SPOT and Frequency LOCK depending on the mode. So in CW, D4 to ground would be SPOT and in SSB it would toggle Frequency LOCK.?
Or a quick tap toggles LOCK on CW/SSB and holding for more than 1 second gives you SPOT while in CW mode ? ?I am just thinking out loud.?

Cheers

Michael VE3WMB?

Re: Raduino v1.16 with CW-SPOT function released

Allard,Thanks so much! I can hardly drill holes in my BitX40 and upload new sketches fast enough.?
To get the very handy CW Spot button wired correctly we need to follow your V1.16 Readme or Operating Instructions and connect to D4 and not to D5 as stated above.?
See raduino_pin_layout.

Thanks so much for the amazing work you have done.

New in v1.16: CW SPOT button for zero beating

Connect a momentary pushbutton to Arduino pin D5. A SPOT tone will be heard when D5 is connected to ground.
By aligning the CW Spot tone to match the pitch of an incoming station's signal, you will cause your signal and
the other station's signal to be exactly on the same frequency (zero beat).

See Dave KE0OG's video at for a nice tutorial on how to use this feature.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

DId you write code? or change what is there so encoder changes the frequency?? You can't just add the Rotary Lib, you got to do some hacking.

Dear PA3FAT,
Take advantage of your courtesy and expertise to request further assistance.
In essence I came to almost the end of the job using your sketch for the s-meter and the encoder:
? The sketch runs regularly after I have inserted the version of the SI5351 (1.1.2)
? The s-meter works perfectly
? I connected the encoder (Keyes KY-040) to pin D2, D3 and D4
? I used the "Rotary" library from your site
? The encoder button (pin D4) operates and changes the frequency steps
? The encoder does not work (the encoder rotation does not change the frequency)
You can give me some indication to help me solve the problem.
Thank you, 73 de IV3XHM

Re: Wobbling voice in Transmit

FWIW, within the past week or so someone posted to group that they were also getting reports of frequency variations during transmit and it
turns out that they had neglected to install the disk capacitor between the wiper and ground on the tuning pot. Installing the cap fixed the?
issue for them.?

Re: No messages?

Windows (Win10 at least and possibly 8.x and 7) had and update this past week. If your system updated then perhaps that "adjusted" something causing this behavior.

Every time Win10 does an update I have to change back some settings on my audio setup, so far, more an annoyance than anything.

It's really not that hard to figure out.?Others have pointed to some tutorials that will tell you how. Basically it's as simple as downloading the software, the IDE and connecting the Arduino to a USB port.

Oops! I made a small typo:

Connect a pushbutton to Arduino pin D5. A SPOT tone will be heard when D5 is connected to ground.
It should be:
Connect a pushbutton to Arduino pin D4. A SPOT tone will be heard when D4 is connected to ground.

Sorry for causing any confusion!
