Re: has anyone tried this super cheap Mega 2560 PRO MINI

Jack Purdum

I've purchased mine from eBay #152111349696. I buy for my club's builds, so I get 25 at a time and he does discount at that volume. It never hurts to ask for a discount if you buy smaller multiples. You might mention that you're using it in one of my projects, as I buy enough he knows who I am...you never know if he'll discount unless you ask.

Jack, where do you get your Pro Mini's? Also what is a good price? I just want to
buy the correct unit.

Thanks,

Can you give some examples of how/ where to place that shielding tape? I have the same case coming and would like to keep interference out as much as possible.

Thanks and 73,

Troubleshooting Bitx40

Hi All.
I have been listening to my bitx40 recently and its remarkable how sensitive and quiet it is (Low QRM) compared to my other radios.
However the transmit stopped working..
I injected a audio tone into the mic input (750 hz @70 mv and was able to track it up to the mixer.
Then I injected a 7.2 Mhz signal at C43 Before Q4 and was able to see 1.5 Volts out of the antenna on transmit and I could vary that appropriately using RV1 and/or C136, so everything appears to be working after the mixer. ?I then put a 12 MHz signal into C61 before the crystal filter and got an increase on the scope before the mixer.
The VFO and BfO are both outputting
I checked the diodes on the board -reading .477 on diode checker.
Has anyone got any suggestions before I tear into the coils?

Gees...I totally missed that! You'd need an AVR ISP programmer to load sketches into its flash memory...a pain even if you have the programmer. The AVR ISP modules aren't that expensive:

but there still is some hassle costs.

They don't have the built on USB connector.? You need a separate board for
the USB.? I have some NANOs that are like that.? They work fine but are a
pain in the backside if you have to program it often and don't leave the
usb board always attached.

Look at the picture. See the single row 5 pin connector? That's where
you plug in the usb board. The usb board translates usb to ttl and is
supposed to do some other logic required to put the chip into program mode
(something with the reset pin).

Vince.

I don't see where you can connect a cable to update the programs/sketches.

The "RST/TX/RX/VCC/GND" next to the reset is where you tie in to program.
?You can program it with another arduino board if you dont have the right TTL converter.
Converters are also cheap on Aliexpress as well.

The one's I've seen use 4 bolts at the corners of a square-cut grill placed on the underside of the cabinet.

I'd be interested in how they work for you, if you do buy one. They are not the "standard" MEGA 2560 Pro Mini footprint that I'm using on my VFO board, so I can't use them or I'd try it myself.

Huw,?

I had LED on all the time, till I realised the transistors were in the wrong way round,?
I did not get a good response from mine with the audio input in, on the other end of the 3.3k so swapped it, may try a preset there later.

Hidehiko.

If you track down Peter VK3YE videos it will help with the S meter, the Pot is one leg to +12v and the wiper onto the + side of the S meter, - side of the meter goes onto the - side of the LED, in other words the meter and its potentiometer is across the LED.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Allard for your update!
It works well here in my situation.
The RIT function is very convenient.
I hope to add the S-Meter on the LCD someday. hi

I use Ver. 1.09 and have no problem to sense TX via 10 K and A0.

Before I connect ?A0 to the main board the input whas very sensitive and get high if I hold my hand over the input.
