Do you have a solar charge controller? ?It doesn¡¯t sound like it. ?15V is bad for the battery. ?It will cook it and will shorten it¡¯s overall life.

Anything much over 12v is unsafe. ?See post ??/g/BITX20/message/26492

You are not purchasing a radio.? You are purchasing a kit.? Big difference. At least as far as the regs are concerned. ?

On a related note, 4-days from India to Ohio?? I'm impressed!

George -?
Exactly the same - 600 km first contact to Toronto from Baltimore.? And I was heard in Miami area, too.
I have two tuning controls in my BitX 40v3 - built before everyone was using Radino.? I replaced the Surface Mount caps that controled the tuning with NP0 caps, and replaced the toroid.? That stabilized the frequency drift that plagued the early models.? Then I have the standard 10K pot (on right) and a 500 ohm pot for bandspread tuning.? No need for a 10Turn pot. I just added the circuit to eliminate the pesky PTT Whamp.? Now the circuit is usable on the air. ?
Funny how everyone's BitX is similar inside but looks very different on the outside. ??

Great build.? Would you mind sharing some details about the construction?? My bitx40 just arrived in the mail and I'm considering how I want to box it up.

Now to build the CW circuit and attempt JT65 next...

There are lots of people on the list of buyers that did not supply a Call.

I don't think there is a problem?? There is no law that I know of in the US that says you have a Call to purchase a radio?

They just can't transmit?

BITX QSO Night, Sunday, May 21, 9pm Local Time, 7.178 MHz

Please note that the frequency is changing from 7179 to 7178 to move away from 7180 QSB.? Lets hope for better band conditions!

Join us as we make contacts from BITX40 to BITX40 on 7.178 MHz in 40 meters!

To participate, call CQ BITX at 9pm sharp, your local time, on Sunday. Call off and on for about 15 minutes. It is helpful if you call CQ BITX with your name and location.? Repeat your call a number of times if conditions are weak.

This is a worldwide event at 9pm in each time zone.? You may participate in any time zone, regardless of your location, so you may wish to call in at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm, your local time, whether you are on Daylight Savings Time or not. Feel free to call at other times on this frequency as well, however try to make yourself available at 9pm local time to call and listen.

Report your QSO's, discuss propagation, noise, signal reports, audio reports, antenna type, etc. in this thread.

This is an undirected, scheduled event.? The BITX QSO Night relies on you to call CQ BITX to initiate contacts with other stations, so warm up that final and transmit a few calls at 9pm on Sunday.? Talk to you then!

Re: BITX QSO Night, Sunday, May 14, 9pm Local Time, 7.179 MHz

I tried at 8PM PDT, but heard no bitx40 calls, just a lot of QRM from other stations. I called CQ for awhile, with no response. I could see that my signal was making it to AZ (using websdr.com radio) but apparently, everyone was already in QSO, and no one was scanning for calls.

I think I really need to get cracking on the audio interface so I can do PSK and JT65.
