Re: zBitx disassembling guide?
Thanks, was just looking for this, 'cause I want to upgrade the 'Pi Zero W 2' to? 'Radxa Zero 2 PRO' and the 'Pico' to 'Pico 2' just for the enhancement.
The Radxa has 6 cores M73, 4Gb RAM and up to 32Gb eMMC. The Pico 2 has 2cores M33 at 150MHz, 520Kb RAM, (wifi and bluetooth possible on the W series). '73 Martin PD0ZZ ? |
Re: Batteries on ZbitX
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHere¡¯s what happened to mine when I got it backwards: I had removed the battery holder so I could have a vent on that end and a fan on the other end. That worked well. But I attempted a SOTA activation last Monday, and made the mistake of reading the polarity markings on the battery holder! They are backwards from the markings on the 3D printed end panel: see how the + terminal is opposite to the red wire: So that was dumb. But it also wasn¡¯t hard to fix: So I had it back on the air the next day, but there might be a problem with the power/swr circuit now - not sure. I get zeros for both, while my tuner is showing good power out as usual. I plan to eventually install it into a nicer case, and then I can add a fuse holder, as well as a fan. ?The diode protected the electronics, but using a pcb trace as a fuse is not so nice. Re: Recommend mic electret element for zBitx
search a bit and you'll find I have written extensively on this as have others. gordon kx4z On Sat, Apr 26, 2025 at 8:46?AM Retroradio via <rockabillyguy13=[email protected]> wrote:

I have the same issue. It appears it's a timing issue.? In that, the RX audio is not fully muted before the tx is activated and we get a partial? audio feedback. I am assuming your not referring to the actual tx audio, as that is controlled in the SET button. Joe VE1BWV? On Fri, Apr 25, 2025, 9:56?p.m. Dennis A via <AC9KQ=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Zbitx at 12vdc
Ashar,
?
I have tried both. ?Did it with the linear before going to the switcher same issue. ?I switched to the switcher for heat and it cut the receive current down. At 13vdc switcher is still at 5.2vdc. ? Works great to 11vdc. ?After that signal drops. ?Thought it might have something to do with the lpf switching scheme. I do get 10-12w though on transmit at 13vdc just the receiver goes almost deaf.

Re: Zbitx at 12vdc
Ryan l, it might be your switching regulator going into a different gear at that voltage. Can you try it with a linear regulator instead? You can risk a minute of heat. On Sat, 26 Apr, 2025, 8:36?am Ryan Wesolowski via , <cosmo1stgen=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Zbitx at 12vdc
I am bumping this back to the top. ?Any idea why the zbitx receiver begins to go deaf over 11vdc? ?I have different finals and a switching 5v regulator no no issues there. ?So looking into what I need to change to get the receiver to not go deaf over 11vdc. ?Looking to run as high as 13.8vdc.

zBitx Buster upgrade error
I tried to upgrade the original Buster 32-bit distribution using sudo apt upgrade. After rebooting I get the error message:
sbitx: simple.c:649: snd_mixer_selem_has_capture_switch: Assertion 'elem' failed
Is the original distribution image available on the web to reprogram the SD card? Can the zBitx software be compiled for a standard Raspberry OS distribution?
?
Thanks,

Re: QSSTV on Zbitx
Also at amazon enough choice for peltier blocks separate its more cheaper to assemble your possibilities with a 4 cm fan and peltier block its only 18 euro together and the fan have 3 stands? Op 25 apr 2025 12:40 schreef "William Hemmingsen via groups.io" <lee.hemmingsen@...>:

Re: zBitx Distribution upgrade
Update Status:
?
Base1:
Original zBitx Image downloaded and OS Upgrade done from Buster to Bullseye
Image includes sbitx v. 3.051
?
Problem:
OS and other apps get correct time.
zbitx app has always time starting in UNIX Startpoint 1970/01/01 00.00Z
Time in titel of zbitz app wrong.
FT8 therefor has wrong time too.
Decoding not always starting, unstable situation
?
Test:
update_zbitx done
sbitx v. 3.021 => older version
time from OS and zbitx gets updated within several seconds delay
Time in titel of zbitx and FT8 OK
?
?
Base2:
Original Image from Raspberry site with Raspbian OS Bullseye
Original source code downloaded from Github All additional libraries from Raspberry site except wiring Compiled ok, sbitx v. 3.052
?
Problem:
OS and other apps get correct time.
zbitx app has always time starting in UNIX Startpoint 1970/01/01 00.00Z
Time in titel of zbitz app wrong.
FT8 therefor has wrong time too.
Decoding is starting, but many infos in terminal "Generating Wisdom File..."
Decodes max 1 or 2 station per seq in FT8
?
could this be because I didn't use the external fftw3 library like descripted in install.txt? I used that from distribution.
Display has v. 1.06 in all cases
?
Any clue?
