Re: Zbitx and fldigi help
Ragav,

Fldigi will run for a bit. ?If you try to change frequency from fldigi it will many times hang and not recover. ?Sometimes it will crash the zbitx program sometimes it will take minutes to do anything. ?I experienced this issue on my original sbitx also. ?

It has a pretty detailed explanation of why it doesn't work as you perhaps might expect.
In particular, if you don't want to modify the mic or key you are trying to use there is an easy workaround: Just connect the mono plug to the side of the Y cable that connects to tip and sleeve, off you go.? Ring will remain floating, or if you want, you can use the ring side of the Y cable to hook up a PTT switch.? ?I happened to have such a PTT switch handy for use with a different radio, it works fine.? --

Re: Zbitx and fldigi help
Tom,

As others have pointed out, the zBitx comes with FLdigi preinstalled on the image. To access this, you need to connect your radio to an external HDMI display to run the program. FLdigi will not run on the built in display.
Ryan, I did not face any issue when running FLdigi on the zBitx. Let me perform a sustained test tomorrow and get back to you on this. ?

Re: Microphone query
Hello Martin,
?
The short answer is no; you need a stereo plug, or the ring contact in the jack will be shorted, and it will immediately go into transmit.? You do not need the PTT switch connected.? You do need the stereo (Tip, Ring, Sleeve - TRS) plug with the mic connected to the tip and the sleeve.

Re: Microphone query
Martin,
You didn't say what device you plug the microphone into, I'm just guessing that it's currently a zbitx.
The zbitx microphone input is the same as the sbitx. My experience is that you can replace it with a more sensitive microphone insert (meaning electret), but it's not the best solution. You'll need a little dexterity to install a microphone amplifier into the microphone housing.
It won't be easy, because the amplifier will need a power supply, which you'll either solve, or get a microphone with an amplifier that has a power source built into it.
Electret microphones need a power source to operate, which can vary depending on the type. If it's a zbitx, you can download the schematic from github, where you can also download the upgrade.

Re: Zbitx and fldigi help
Ok thank you. I couldn't find fldigi anywhere on the radio..but if it doesn't work I'll stop looking. On Mon, Apr 21, 2025, 10:57?PM Ryan Wesolowski via <cosmo1stgen=yahoo.com@groups.io> wrote:

Re: Zbitx and fldigi help
You can use fldigi with an external monitor. ?There is a pre installed version on the radio but it is very old. ?It doesn’t work very well and hangs the zbitx program. ?This was an issue in sbitx also and later fixed with 64bit. ?You might want to try and compile the later version of fldigi but may still have the same issue.

Re: Zbitx Musings
开云体育Wouldn't the schematic be of value here? Here's a link to the first (Dec 2024) schematic, I don't have a link to any updated schematic: Ken, N2VIP On Apr 21, 2025, at 20:04, zl1ujg via groups.io <zl1ujg@...> wrote:

Zbitx Musings
Hi,?
Taken the covers off my Zbitx, and just trying to work my way around the PCB.?
In the circuits available which are possibly out of date, it shows LC matching on either side of the 40 MHz crystal filter. Looking at the board it appears to have one L matching inductor T30-6 with 13t (one is a wire link, but the 22pF capacitor appears to be still fitted)
Please could someone confirm whether that is correct.?
Thanks
