I don't have a zbitx and I don't plan to buy a weaker device after the sbitx v2.
I know sbitx from DE onwards, zbitx cannot be compared to these, even if the running application is called sbitx.

By most accounts, DHL is the best choice for most situations, and provides HF Signals with a single, predictable cost.

Rather than just wish for a better option, why not cite a specific superior carrier as an alternative??

Here in the U.S. much of these import fees and tariff issues are avoided due to so-called de minimus thresholds, allowing shipments under $800 U.S. to enter the country freely (no fee or tariff) from anywhere (except, going forward, China, it seems - as discussed here previously, no need to re-hash it).

As I understand this particular situation, the local gov't has some fees it wants to collect, and the shipper treats it as a COD transaction, with a fee to cover the collection and reporting of that fee. Until the shipper (HF Signals) has a way to pre-pay the fee and collect the fees from the buyer in advance, this is the best that can be done. HF Signals won't pre-pay the fee, and any shipper will add a fee for the collection/reporting effort. (Can a shipper even pre-pay the fee? I just assume that's an option, I have no idea.)

It's hard to find a solution that works best for everyone, but DHL appears to be a good fit for many/most buyers...

Re: No output power

Unfortunately, this happened to me too!
No output power in any mode.
The receiver works.
I did not use a high-current power supply.
I hope it was just the output transistors that failed for some reason.

Re: No output power

Zero on the web interface is "normal" for the latest version...the only on-board indicator that occasionally works is the front panel display and then only briefly.

The only thing consistent on my unit is the inconsistency of whatever it is I am trying to get the radio to perform. Completing a simple CW qso with the unit screwing up is a challenge....even when using the message memories.

SO WHY should the output power display be stable and useful ?

Good work! ? Thanks for writing it up! ?

I suggest putting it on the wiki page as well

Desktop microphone for sbitx #sBITX_v3 #microphone #sbitx_v2

Desktop microphone for sbitx
For a long time I only used the well-functioning modes with the sbitx device.
I have established more than 10 thousand connections in digital modes, while I have conducted several tests in the voice mode using a microphone.
The microphone I modified uses an external AGC amplifier and has a higher gain than the microphones recommended so far.
I modified the so-called 'Meeting MIC' because there is enough space in its base for this modification.
According to the description, the electret microphone has a sensitivity of -40dB, the AGC amplifier has a gain of 40dB in my settings.
My experiences are good, because the stations that responded say it has a clear sound.
I detail the description of the modification in the attached pdf.
I hope that the retrofitters will have similar experiences.
A little assembly experience is required for the modification.
In sbitx 64 bit v4.4, I use MIC 25, COMP 4.

Re: zBitx Expected noise?

Robert Fairbairn, i will post a video to show and let everybody hear how awfull it is in MY zbitx...
The clicking and hissing sound, the screen flashing on SSB 10mtr with IF on 75 or 80 makes it completely unworkable... Other bands and other modeshave the same issues, in CW the flashing frequency is up to 15 Hz...

Re: zBitx Expected noise?

Joel, allready ordered the PICO 2 for this experiment...

Re: Web Interface Band Selection Buttons #zbitx

Hello Ragav,
?
thank you for your reply. I was not precise enough.
?
On the external monitor all is fine and I understand the function of this numbers.
Band 10 - 80m underneath 1 1 1 1 2 1 2 3 1
?
When I connect from extern notebook via web browser, there it shows left to right 80m - 10m.
In index.html is missing there the 60M band.
I see instead of the numbers only a dot ".", but underneath 10M the number 4.
?
When I add in index.html the parts for 60m There is now one more band in the row.? (All works fine concerning controlling the radio itself)
Situation as above - everywhere dots => but number 4 changed from underneath 10m to 12m
So it kept the "indexed position" in the row.
?
I checked the script in index.html concerning "bandsel". Is the coding there completed or just in a prelimlinary stage?
If yes - where could be or is the fault?
If no - I will examine it deeper and try to finish.

Tests done, connected to Ol'reliable LPM-880, no power on 2TONE on any band.
Same simptoms: S-meter still present, no mic monitor, no power meter, no VSWR info, message "Power: 0 watts" on web interface. Same for all bands.

Re: Date time sync

Ramon,

It looks like you've set the timezone already. You can either edit the .profile file on the /home/pi folder (as documented here.) You could also run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata" in terminal to set the local time. Make sure you reboot the radio after setting the correct timezone.

Zbitx S meter

Hi,?
Received my Zbitx today. Many thanks for the excellent service. I wonder what the S meter calibration is. I read somewhere that the Bitx calibration is correct for IF gain of 53. But am not sure whether that applies to the Zbitx. Is it the conventional - 73dBm for 50uV/S9?
?
Thanks

Re: Web Interface Band Selection Buttons #zbitx

Michael,

The "4" underneath the band button indicates the band stack. This is like setting memories for each band that allows you to access a particular, frequency, and mode with a press of a button. For example, you can set the first stack on 10M to USB set to your local 10M QRP watering hole, the second stack for FT8 on 28.074, the third stack on CW set to 28.010, and fourth stack to DIGI on 28.100 and so on.

Re: No output power

Martin and Raul,

Can you check if you are seeing any power output on the two tone mode? Set the drive to 100 and connect the zBitx to a dummy load through a power meter.? Please try this on all bands and let us know.

Re: Fixed: cw latency and wsjtx/flidigi sidetone

Afraid not, Gordon.? ? Do not have a? /etc/x11/xorg.conf? file in this RasPi release.
?
Found a? ?/etc/x11/xsession.options? file, and just for kicks, I added a? ?use-events? ? line at the end.? ? But that is not anything that it knows what to do with.
?
I'm not really an X11 or xorg? expert . . .? ?

Re: No output power

Yeah, break it down into modules.? ??
First check and see if DC power is getting to the transmitter?during "TX".? ?Q5 is the switch that provides power to a regulator and from there it can be checked at a slew of different places.? ? I notice that Ashhar has put int a current limiting resistor on Q101 (good job!!) -- reducing the chances of that system getting fried.? If DC power is present, then move to searching for RF signals along the transmitter chain during TX.

Good luck, this is real ham radio!!
