Re: Line input direct to WM8731 pin 19

Hi Dean,

I already read Farhan's email (tks Farhan!) and your reply.

Nothing to add, and no solutions, but I also have some high level of noise with the stock sbitx + shipped mic (more than I wanted, lets say). Reading the WM8731 datasheet, there are some options for DC offset manipulation and others. I still had not time to play with them, but all these controls are available tru Alsa. I think it would be a good idea to play a bit with these controls and see what goes on.

Hi Rafael,
Curious about the ALSA mixer settings for the mic. For my home brew build, I built the mic amp from the SBITX schematic. I tack soldered in a electret capsule of unknown spec that I just happened to have in the junk box. I am getting some audio through but it doesn't seem very sensitive. With the microphone gain maxed I get a fair amount of noise on the waterfall from background noise. And I can see it on a scope at the output of the PA. But when I talk into the microphone I don't see much change. If I play a 1KHz tone from my phone with the phone speaker right next to the microphone hat comes through cleanly..

Any ideas or recommendations? Appreciated .

That's why I suggested transmitting a test signal from your other radio. We do that around here when we're too lazy to get the signal generator out....which is most of the time :-)

I did attach it to the dummy load and was able to do some code but I¡¯m left with just knowing that. Also I¡¯m limited on test equipment.

Tony,

I know this sounds stupid, but have you checked the connector on the sbitx? might have been loose or came loose when tightening and broke the center conductor?

good luck on the repair. Maybe use another transceiver or signal generator and the sbitx on a dummy load to see if any signals are getting thru? Maybe try a different antenna and feed cable?

Just trying to throw out some suggestions for you. You probably already have checked these items,.If you decide to sell, email me back with a price since it doesnt receive.

Re: does the antenna need to be engaged?

Since Tony has a DX10, he might try transmitting a test signal on an idle frequency from the DX10 on his working antenna, while tuning the test freq on the SbitX; being this close to his station he shouldn't need an antenna at all to receive SOMETHING.

Is it truly completely dead??

.Nothing on S-meter or waterfall?? ?background noise??

Is it possible that IF is turned all the way down? On other radios that would be labelled RF GAIN, of course.

The LICW Refrigerator Magnet

The LICW Refrigerator Magnet is printed on flat magnetic material, the very same magnetic sheet stock that is used for all those useful calendar magnets sent by your favorite insurance companies.? The LICW Magnet is a generous 3-2/3¡± in diameter and can easily hold a logbook page or two in place.? The Club callsign, W2LCW, is proudly displayed on the magnet face; for an extra charge, your callsign -- and LICW number, if desired -- can be inserted in place of the club callsign.? The W2LCW callsign has no member number listed underneath.

The magnet is available in three styles: a white background (looks best on dark surfaces), a grey background, or a black background (looks best on white or light-colored surfaces).

To get your LICW Magnet, send your order via Paypal to wb2gxm<at>gmail<dot>com. BE SURE to include a note with your name, call, and full mailing address including zipcode and country. All money sent without a full mailing/shipping address or without complete ordering instructions will be refunded.

  • Send $6 for each standard Club magnet with callsign W2LCW. Indicate the number of white, grey and/or black magnets in your note;
  • Send $11 for each magnet customized with your callsign (and member number, if desired). Indicate the number of white, grey and/or black magnets in your note. Please supply your member number, we will not look it up for you;
  • Add $1 to your order for shipping outside the US. Postage is included in the magnet price for mailing within the US only.

When ordering via Paypal, please use the "send money to family and friends" option.

Wishing all of you the best on your CW journeys!? 73 - WB2GXM

sBitx clock 6 seconds off from Pi clock

Mike KW1ND

Perhaps I've missed it, but in the past discussions about sBitx clocks being off, I don't recall seeing this issue: the time displayed in the sBitx app title bar is approximately 5-6 seconds behind the Pi clock. The Pi clock is sync'd via NTP and matches both a WWVB desk clock, as well as web site time.is. I haven't used the rig in a few weeks, but don't recall noticing the error then (but I could have missed it). The error persists through reboots. I also used JJ's Toolbox to downgrade to 3.01 and 3.00 versions, with the same error. I also used the Toolbox to 'install latest version, and it doesn't make a difference.

It's almost as if the sBitx clock is reading the Pi clock, then applying a peculiar offset, or freezing for a few seconds, then running.

Some background info, but I don't think this should matter. Per this document (/g/BITX20/files/SBITX-RTC-GPS.pdf) I removed NTP, and installed chronyc, which incorporates NTP as well as having more features. This was to enable the use of a GPS to set system date & time. It works well, as evidenced by the Pi's clock being correct. However, since NTP isn't running by itself, the sBitx Toolbox 'Time Sync' reports the time isn't synchronized, though 'chronyc tracking' clearly shows that it is.

I also cannot get any FT8 decodes, despite plenty of strong signals. I'm guessing this is because the received signal start & stop times are too far off from the sBitx clock, so the software is confused.

Suggestions?

Mike KW1ND

Latest stable firmware for the uBitx V6 #ubitxv6-help #ubitx #uBITX_V6 #ubitx-v6

Hi All,

I'm running uBITX_6_N8ME_Cosmetic_Mods.hex firmware on my uBitx V6, I love the looks of it and the fact that I can store some memories however, the calibration setup is just totally broken. If it wasn't for the calibration problem this would be the perfect firmware for me. Does anyone know if JJ ever released a fixed version of this, if not then what version of firmware is stable enough to use and calibrate?
