Re: Ubitx v6 for sale
Thanks for the interest Mike.? I don't have a paypal account.? You have my email address and there are a few apps that offer free services.? Quicken states Venmo is best after?
paypal and Google Pay might work as I have a Google acct.? ?If out of USA Remitly is supposed to be best.? I am sure $ 20 will cover shipping,if within the USA.? ?When you choose the service, send $150 and I will take care of the rest!? If out of USA, let me know where to ship, so I may calculate shipping.? Thanks Doug KD0DAM |
Re: sBITX V3 Display and Enclosure Considerations
Yeah I'm interested that thing looks sweet. With the side rails and flat black color it has a tactical look to it.?
On my recumbent trike I have a ammo can that I converted into a trunk. I painted it with some spray on truck bed liner. The stuff is a lot tougher than paint and if I had metal working skills good enough to make a metal enclosure, I think that a couple of coats of bed liner would be good for a portable rig.? -- '72 Aaron? |

Re: sBITX V3 Display and Enclosure Considerations
Good point Gyula.
It's nice to catch this now than at a park lol.? I couldn't find the amp draw on my RPI touch display so I'm assuming that it will be less than the 15" laptop screen. I can run tests on different displays and different batteries to see if I can find a workable solution. I would rather have a smaller screen than a dead battery.? -- '72 Aaron? |
Re: sBITX V3 Display and Enclosure Considerations
Aaron,
I understand. This way, the position of the girl is completely different when you use the laptop display as an independent unit. I also have an old laptop display, I'm still trying to figure out how I could use it for this purpose. The sBitx motherboard has only one 12V connection point. Make sure that there is a thin line plus sign on the top side of the pcb, but this is not the marking of the positive pole, but a positioning cross! So it's not the input positive. -- Gyula HA3HZ |
Hi Farhan,
?It looks like the marine bands are mostly below the ham bands. It appears USB is most used. Radios are supposed to be certified, so this is mostly a thought process at this point. ;) ?I'm thinking about a uBITX RX/TX chain, likely more filters, and possibly the 100 W power chain from a Ukrainian ham, UU0JR. It takes 0 dBm to 100 W in three stages. One of the books I brought with me is Emon Skelton's "Building a Transceiver". He used BPFs in his radio. I wondered if the roofing filter in your design made the BPFs redundant.? ? Re: Calibration Lost after power cycle KD8CEC v1.8
Hello Evan Another possibility is to use the "yellow text box" part of the Nextion/KD8CEC software to edit settings.? You get to it by holding in the encoder until a 16x2 yellow box mimics the original uBitx 16x2 character display.? It requires more steps to turn on the calibration sub-menu, then adjust and finish with a brief PTT click. I was trying this out the whole time. I wasn't using any computer. Once I zero beat, I would save the value by pressing PTT(2 Seconds and more which thrown be back to home screen) ? and restarting the rig. Calibration is now lost Anyways.. I currently trimming Marks code and let me try out any uBitx Manager which can write directly to EEPROM ( Linux Platform , I use POP OS ) |
A band pass will prevent out of band signals (like AM broadcast) that are below 30 MHz from overloading the ubitx. Otherwise, all you need is to chnage the values of the LPF to marine bands. What are the marine bands and frequencies? Forgive my ignorance. On Fri, Feb 16, 2024, 4:33 AM AndyH <awhecker@...> wrote: I'm sketching a possible marine band variant of the uBITX. Re: Calibration Lost after power cycle KD8CEC v1.8
Evan is correct here. The Settings Editor I wrote runs on Windows, MacOS and a variety of Linux systems. The downloads (and even a manual!)? are available at:
It is also compatible with the V1.x series of CEC. There are some videos on its use at:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp1Y26ZTnEfEB49Qzw4dVaQ. 73 Mark -- AJ6CU/7 KD8CEC 2.0, Nextion Screens,? and open source uBITX Raduino boards for Arduino IOT, BLE, RP2040, Teensy 4.0, and Raspberry Pi Pico https://github.com/aj6cu |
Re: sBITX V3 Display and Enclosure Considerations
Ok so I guess that I will be the guy with the big screen sBITX. I can use this thread as a place to update the build. Actually I will ask all of my dumb questions here then when I write it up on my blog I can make it look like I know what I'm doing. lol
I plan on making it from oak and walnut. I want to use my scroll saw and cut schematic symbols into the face of the radio for decoration. Perhaps I can use part of the schematic of the sBITX. It will be easier to understand as I do it. So to kick off this project I have a question regarding regarding electrical power connections.? The display operates on 12 volts, just like the sBITX. Is there a unused 12 volt connector on the sBITX board? Or do I need to have two separate 12 volt connections? Once again I really appreciate the help and advice.? ?? -- '72 Aaron? |

Here are some pics of it: Here is the driver board for the laptop display. Here is the front of the laptop display as it is being used as a display for the sBITX. Nothing fancy to it, just have everything screwed down to a board until I figure something better out.? -- '72 Aaron? |
Re: sBITX V3 Display and Enclosure Considerations
If I may suggest, occasionally read the conversations in the other topic. Why am I saying that?
Because it was discussed a few days ago that the laptop has a monitor output, meaning you can connect an external monitor to it. But you can't use your laptop's monitor as an external monitor because it doesn't have a video input (it only has an output). There are descriptions on the net that they use an adapter with hdmi input and usb output. You can also see comparison pictures of it, where it turns out that this is not a good solution. So using the laptop and VNC can be a good solution. Or you can use an external hdmi monitor connected to the output of the RPi, even two if there is no dsi screen. -- Gyula HA3HZ |
