Re: sBitx DE v2 lost audio loopback
Are you using any startup script to launch the radio on startup? This happens when I auto launch it on bootup. - f On Wed, Apr 19, 2023, 7:29 PM Rafael Diniz <rafael@...> wrote: Try this in the config.txt - substitute "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d" by: |

I have rebooted and restarted the radio several times and now I can't get it working (same problem as the original post).
I don't have the HDMI connected, but I was using VNC. ?I disabled the VNC interface in the Raspberry Pi configuration, but aplay is still showing the vc4-hdmi-0 and vc4-hdmi-1 interfaces. ?How can I turn those off? -- 73, Mark, N8ME |

Cold you post again the aplay output?

UPDATE
After posting the above, I shut down the radio. I heard relays click loudly. In the past, that has meant that the WM8731 may work, so I started the radio up again and now it is working. ?I don't think I heard the relays click that way in all the times I shutdown or rebooted earlier when the WM8731 wasn't working. -- 73, Mark, N8ME |

Can you try disconnecting HDMI and see if it works? The hdmi audio driver took place of the loopback devices. If it works, better blacklist the hdmi audio driver as a stop gap solution. Rafael On 4/19/23 15:51, Mark Erbaugh wrote:

sBitx DE v2 lost audio loopback
I fired up my sBitx DE with the latest v2 software and the waterfall is all on.
In the past, I've seen this and it's been an issue communicating with the WM8731 If I start up sBitx via ssh, I see all kinds of audio (ALSA and Jack) error messages starting with? Error opening loopback playback device plughw:1,0: Unknown error 524 See the attached file (error.txt) for all the gory details. I think the loopback is configured properly. This setup was working a couple of days ago. The attached file aplay.txt shows the output from aplay -l In the past, when I have seen this behavior, rebooting or restarting sBitx will make things work, but I've restarted sBitx and rebooted several times - no change. I've double-checked /boot/config.txt and /etc/rc.local (also attached) and both seem to be configured properly as per install.txt FWIW, I am planning on demo'ing the radio at my local ham club meeting tomorrow night. I hope I can get things resolved before then. -- 73, Mark, N8ME |
Re: Troubles with output RF and modulation
Andrea,
The #define setting in the source code does not mean the HEX file was compiled from that sketch.? The correct HEX file is in the uBITXV5 folder.? The other folder, uBITXV234, is in the same repository with the setting for the earlier uBitx. I am having difficulty coming up with a reason for peak power at 20 meters and lower power at 80 and 40.? There is an anomaly with 40 meters that, on some uBITX, causes a dip.? For my six uBitx, 80 meters is the strongest, with dips at 40 and then declining on 15 through to 4 watts on 10.? This is after doing the ajparent upgrade with the 2n2222a driver replacement as suggested here: Changing the drivers and bias flattened the output for the three I modded, though still a significant dip on 10 meters. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Re: Troubles with output RF and modulation
Hi Vic, I have installed version 1.2 which CEC indicated via Link on its site towards Github.? The file is a compiled hex.? From the same folder I also downloaded the source.? In this I saw that the setting is for V5 and that the Raduino has the outputs set to 8mA.? I also checked the Raduino's output frequencies and they are correct.? Also the final output measured with a frequency counter on the artificial load is correct, even taking into account the 700Hz of the CW in LSB/USB.?? 73, by IK0XBC Andrea Il mer 19 apr 2023, 11:31 Vic WA4THR via <vhklein=[email protected]> ha scritto: In addition to Evan's suggestion, Andrea, could you confirm that the version of KD8CEC software you are using is for the V5 uBitX and not the earlier version for the V3 and V4? Re: Alsa loopback not working
My bad. The audio was too low, I just changed the waterfall settings in fldigi and started seeing it. Yay, working! Will connect to antenna today. When using HEAD git in the sBitx v1 (dev edition), should I do any change to the software, or I can just use without bothering?

Btw, is there currently a way to pass the "full band" to the loopback? (how should I call the "full band" with relation to the frequency set over the I2C? USB with regards to the dial frequency set?) Cheers! sBitx rocks! 73's, Rafael On 4/19/23 05:06, Ashhar Farhan wrote:

Re: Alsa loopback not working
Rafael, Check that fldigi is showing the spectrum within its own window. If it is, the loopback is working. You can check the fldigi settings of audio card to see how it configured. - F On Wed, Apr 19, 2023, 4:35 AM WP3DN <3voltios@...> wrote: Rafael,? |
Sm AGC connect uBitx V6
#ubitx-v6
I picked up a SM AGC uBitx kit from Inkits.? Can I simply use pin 3 (ground) and pin 4 (vol-h) to feed the input on the audio in for this to work?? I've attached the schematic of the agc. If anyone has used this board and has recomendations on how to connect it to a V6 board I'd appreciate your information.? Most of the hook ups I've found have been for a V4 board.? There is a reference to jumpers that don't seem to be present on the V6 board.? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Troubles with output RF and modulation
Andrea,
Can you confirm these are power measurements into a 50-ohm dummy load?? The power, as reported feeding an antenna can vary depending on the characteristics of the antenna.? A tuner between the antenna and the uBitx can also impact the power out as measured by the ATU. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Re: Troubles with output RF and modulation
Hi Evan, I did what you suggested, and now I have 10W on 20m and 5W on all other bands.? Originally, however, I had different powers for each band thanks to the calibration of HF Signal for the suppression of harmonics and spurious.? I have ascertained that the TX filters are controlled regularly, so I'm wondering where and how the tester could intervene, also resulting in a different RF output power for each band.? Could you direct me on this as well?? 73, of IK0XBC Andrea.

Alsa loopback not working
Hi all,
In order to test if I can play / capture audio tru the alsa loopback, I just opened audacity and tried to capture... nothing. Audio comes out nicely over the gtk ui, and also over the web ui. Any hints of what it can be? I did not change the .asoundrc [1], nor nothing else. It is possible that the audio was too low? I was testing without antenna... with IF 100... (I could hear the hiss) the audio that goes to the loopback is after processing or before? Which .c file is responsible for doing this copy of the audio samples between wolfram and loopback device? Cheers, Rafael [1] pcm.!default { ???????type asym ???????playback.pcm { ???????????????type plug ???????????????slave.pcm "output" ???????} ???????capture.pcm { ???????????????type plug ???????????????slave.pcm "input" ???????} } pcm.output { ???????type hw ???????card 1 } ctl.!default { ???????type hw ???????card 1 } pcm.input { ???????type hw ???????card 0 } |
Re: sBitx Developer¡¯s Edition (v1) ¡ª how to protect the RPi4?
Farhan,
ITs not the device loading its the posible reverse path due to that parts failure. Fr example if that mosfet develops a gat to dran short then the GPIO pin sees 12V and that's bad. the uln2003 fails or ther eis a board level short to it? the relay select lines can fail at the Pi. If everything works, its never an issue, only when something is wrong it becomes one. As a development radio the expectation of >>>oops<<< should be foreseen. -- Allison ------------------ Please use the forum, offline and private will go to bit bucket. |

Thanks, Lou. That thread is very illuminating, especially Allison¡¯s comments. I believe I put in a 78L05 ahead of a1117 because of that suggestion. There¡¯s a lot more information there that¡¯s now making sense to me. If Allison forwards any photos it¡¯d be very helpful.
