Re: YouTube Influencer Sbitx
HRO will and often do sell to non-licensed customers. They do a ripping trade in scanners and CB equipment too. Neither of those are licensed.? I have watched ETAPrime's YouTube channel quite a few times. I find it to be poorly researched and very "look what I did". I would not call him an influencer by any means.? Farhan, if you really must engage a YouTube influencer at least make it one with some relevant following. K4SWL for example? Mark NI2O On Mon, Dec 12, 2022, 12:05 n7qmm25 <n7qmm25@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHRO for example will NOT sell to any one UNLESS they have a
license. IT is illegal for NON amateurs to operate a radio unless
being controlled by licensed amateur. Flame away. On 12/12/2022 8:47 AM, Evan Hand wrote:

Lou,
I think Naveen meant FCC, not FBI.? The comment is because Preston Roberts does not have an amateur radio operator license.? Any transmission from his QTH would violate Part 97, hence the raid.? (a Google lookup for ETA Prime shows the location in North Carolina so that the FCC would be the enforcement branch of government). As I had stated before, there is a shortage of the radio, so until the backorder is filled, it would be better to sell the units to licensed Hams.? At some point, the backlog will disappear, and advertising is needed to boost sales.? I already have one, so there is no impact on me. The above is my opinion.? Others can be different, and that is OK. 73 Evan AC9TU |

I think the rpi setting is the solution:?
I think you built it based on this: Funtronics uBitx digi interface installation in V6--Gyula HA3HZ |

uBitx v6, WSJT-X and Raspberry Pi
I know there have been posts about this in the past but the threads are numerous and confusing. I'm having trouble with the USB interface (from the Funtronics uBitx board) and my Raspberry Pi. It's intermittent. The WSJT-X sems to be resetting the input device. Sometimes it works with the "port" set to /dev/ttyUSB0 but then it stops, offering choices of /dev/ttyAMA0, /dev/ttyUSB1 and also simply USB. I'm also designating the rig as FT-817 as suggested. I'm using CEC firmware v1.2. Is there a version of WSJT-X that fixes this issue?

Re: uBitx v6 locks up on transmit on upper bands
The unit is a uBitx v6 in a large InKits case with a 5 inch Nextion screen. It's crowded inside with a Funtronics sound card, InKits AGC board and hardware S-meter, 2nd Arduino Nano for software S-meter, an added RF gain potentiometer and BCI filter. Ther lockup must have been from RF because the behavior changed even depending on whether the metal top was on or off. May have been a loose connection also; I moved the 2nd Nano and reconnected some pins and the problem resolved.
I ordered some DC chokes which haven't arrived but I found out another way to get rid of the annoying Nextion whine: I swapped the old basic 5 inch screen for a new Nextion Intelligent unit. Di some A/B tests and sure enough the whine is completely absent, which is of course very helpful when pulling in a weak station. Be warned: the horizontal mounting holes on the new unit are spaced about 3mm apart more than in the old basic unit, so I had to get the Dremel out to get the new unit mounted properly in the case. Thanks all for your helpful suggestions! |
Re: YouTube Influencer Sbitx
Richard,
There are very few of us that can "pound" of it due the TX issues without modding it.? The stock box is very likely to blow finals or do other bad things like oscillate and kill in the input switch. Read: /g/BITX20/message/98355 Since your missing that bit of info.? You likely also missed at least one for sale offer as well by a software only guy. Re: Farhan's Analog Again The Daylight Radio
Yes, I've used them.? Your point is?
Has any one checked the loss tangent fo rthe various printed materials? They vary greatly. I also found I had to space? (those? -0 phenolic) them further due to unwanted coupling.? About 1 toroid diameter was enough for most cases. Allison ------------------ Please use the forum, offline and private will go to bit bucket. |

I would like to take it iff your hands¡ you can keep your pi4 and the screen if you need it but I would like to. Get my hands on a unit to help pound out all the bugs and to work on software development and testing to get more functionality out of it

Re: YouTube Influencer Sbitx
I'd be more to the point.
Its a Developers radio not an off the shelf complete radio at this time. I'd expect in the future that will change.? ?But we need to get past teething pains of the first run.? So at this time its not reviewable if finished radio expectations are applied. Another name for the current units in the field are BETA test and development (hopefully more software) so reporting on it would have to have that expectation as well.? ?As it develops and fixed are incorporated into the hardware the software will also advance. Re: #sbitx usb headset
#sBitx
It should if the Rpi is configured to deliver it to that device
(USB to audio as part of the headset.). I have used USB headsets with my Rpi as a general use laptop. One oh by the way... IF the USB devices eat power from the port to any great extent the Rpi my go into reboot loop.? It is best to use an external USB hub for anything that wants power. I found and its widely reported that the Rpi-4 is a power hound and wants 5.1V (and at least 1.4A plus USB needs) not 5.0V and gets cranky if that is not met. -- Allison ------------------ Please use the forum, offline and private will go to bit bucket. |
