Re: Lost the receiver! #sBitx

Yes I heard it and there was a yellow band!

Re: Lost the receiver! #sBitx

Can hear it transmit? Can you see the modulation ? The modulation will be a steady band of yellow for the ft8.
Finally, switch off sbitx app and open the chrome and play some YouTube. Can you hear the audio?

Re: Lost the receiver! #sBitx

Here is my current display.

Re: Lost the receiver! #sBitx

Thank you Ashhar. Followed your instructions. No change in behavior. Rebooted. No change.

Unlike the pictures in the manual, I don't seem to have a waterfall display.

Also in FT8 when I try to respond to a CQ, my system never goes into xmit.

Re: #sbitx audio control on tap #sBitx

Lou, I added the ft8 file. It is called modem_ft8.c now.
I think the way it should work is that if user_settings.ini doesn't exist, it should load default_settings.ini and write it back as user_settings.ini.
Is that correct?

Re: Initial Testing #sBitx

Goody,
It looks like there are a lot of space characters being generated by the attached keyboard. Can you remove the keyboard and check?
You might want to delete user_settings.ini, git pull again to get a fresh user_settings.ini. just before you do that, email me your user_settings.ini file.
I am implementing a telnet server to accept all the commands and return the output text seen on the console window. Coming soon...
The minimize button should ideally show the rpi icon, to "return to raspberry pi". Let me figure it out.
I will check about the cwdelay at my end and report?back.
Do send me your user_settings.ini. check if the file permissions are normal (read/write enabled for user pi).?

Re: Lost the receiver! #sBitx

I have played with various settings for hours (AGC, IF and AUDIO) To further confuse me I am receiving FT8 now (see attached) even though I hear nothing with CW and SSB across the band.

Re: Lost the receiver! #sBitx

First,
It looks to be purely a software issue. The system is bidirectional and if it transmits, the signal paths are clear both ways.
Second,
Some have reported being stuck with a badly configured user_settings.ini file. This is in /home/pi/sbitx/data. To reset it,
?1. Hit OFF on sbitx application to stop it from running.
2. Delete the user_settings.ini file.
3. Open the terminal, type "cd sbitx" to change to sbitx directory.
4. Type "git pull" to get a newly minted user_settings file back into the system.

You might consider a?Velleman VTDESOL3U Vacuum Desoldering Pump with Heater 30W. Amazon Prime has one for less than $16. The inner diameter of the tip is specified to be 1.8 mm. The outer diameter of the tip looks to be about 3 mm. In essence, it is what I used to call a solder sucker, but it has a heated tip.?

Re: Lost the receiver! #sBitx

When something like that happened to me it was the IF gain was reduced. Try increasing IF as well as audio. The IF should be set so the band scope noise is just starting to show.?

The are a lot of hints in the manual ?

Lost the receiver! #sBitx

Got my DHL box yesterday and connected up my Pi4 and screen, connected an antenna and 12v and the unit was working. I could hear CW and SSB. Figured I'd do the setup today.

So today I go through the operating manual enter call sign, grid and UTC. Then I start learning the controls and notice that I am no longer receiving any signals. No CW, SSB or FT8. Move the antenna to another rig and there are signal everywhere. Reboot the system. Same result.

Not sure what to do. I was thinking of doing a git pull upgrade to newest version but wasn't sure if that would just introduce more variables.

BTW, I plugged in a key, switched to CW mode and the unit transmits fine.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Haako Desoldering station are more expensive than I can handle right now.? Anyone know of a great rework station under $300?

Re: Postman came with a box from hfsignals

Mine (#45) arrived yesterday and the display today. I already had a spare Pi 4 4GB. Some observations:
The DSI connector on the display is a PITA.
With the DRIVE_BIAS POT all the way counterclockwise the current increase was .210 mA
The first 3/4 turn of the PA_BIAS had no effect and the adjustment to hit 200 mA was very sensitive in the remaining space.
Using my old uBitx mic I can get a RF power out out on SSB and see current? draw increase.
For CW I can hear a side tone and see a signal in the spectrum, but there is 0 power out and no increase power draw over no input SSB case.

What have others seen?

Re: DAYLIGHT RADIO

We had this same discussion when the uBitx came out,
some thought the uBitx should have its own group because they didn't want
to be bothered with all that newfangled uBitx stuff when reading up about their Bitx40

The sBitx is new with issues to resolve, things will slowly settle out.
Use hashtags if you can figure them out.

As Farhan suggests, without a kit the Daylight Radio will not be built by thousands of hams
and there won't be much traffic here for it.

Re: Postman came with a box from hfsignals

Anthony Good

sBitX #39 arrived here in PA / K3 land yesterday (Friday).? DHL originally estimated Tuesday next week for delivery.

#39 is powered up and just got a fresh git pull and build.? I also got the user_settings.ini error, scratched my head, relocated the file, and did the git pull successfully.? Then I saw the email thread about it :-D

I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise, but I was pleased to see I could do the usual Linux CTRL-ALT-F1, F2, etc. to get to other ttys.

This is a cool little radio.? I am looking forward to diving into the code and making contributions.
