I am getting some sort of transmission when using the mic normally, I can hear it in a near by receiver. I can also adjust the side tone frequency and hear it during the setting of it. However, I get nothing when pressing the hand key. As you suggest, I'll try a stereo plug and see if that helps. I am just hoping I did not damage a port on the Radiuno. uBitx is no longer selling those separately until they catch up on their orders. Thanks four your reply!!

The DROK clips on Amazon look well built, I may get some.
You have a choice of 50cm and 100cm long.
Wire used is said to be 22 awg, from the photo it's 19/34?(19 strands of 34 gauge).
The 34 gauge strands are each 0.16mm diameter:??
Colors are limited to red and black, but some extra red and black seems a good thing.
Mouser item?548-287 is ten 46cm long multicolored leads for $8 from Mueller.
I doubt they're built anywhere in particular, but the datasheet claims they are
also using 22 awg 19/34 wire.? Wonder how sturdy their alligators are.
Mueller is a brand name I recognize, the datasheet is probably accurate.
Adafruit has twelve multicolored leads for $4, they say it's 22 awg wire, 38cm long.
If these really do have 22 awg stranded copper wire, this is an extremely good deal,
my best guess is they are similar to the Banggood leads described below.
Generally seaking, Adafruit has a hands-on crew of engineers playing with and documenting all their stuff,?
they eat their own dogfood.? I tend to trust them more than most vendors on the web.
The set of fifty multicolored leads I bought from Banggood for $13 have 10 strands of copper.
I measure each strand at 0.07mm diameter, so roughly 40 awg for each strand.
This is not as stout as the 22 awg 19/34 wire (19 strands of 34 awg) used on the products above,
but probably typical of most offerings on the web where wire size is not specified.
Somebody in the "Answers" section says it's 22awg stranded, this is definitely wrong.??
They work well enough for my purposes, though when something doesn't work I've learned
to be suspicious of them.? Wire is wimpy enough that I don't have to fuse my power supply,
when the PVC covering gets drippy hot I know I messed up.
Even though I am incredibly cheap, these go in the trash if the alligators get bent
to where they no longer grip properly.??

Hi Todd,
Try removing the key and using the mic PTT to see if the CW transmits and if you get the sidetone.? The CW menu selection does need to be on.
I suspect that your straight key uses a mono plug rather than a stereo one (Tip and Sleeve vs Tip Ring and Sleeve).?

I would add to Raj's suggestion that you check around the L5 and L7 mod.? Since CW does not use the BiDi amps, and you did modify the connection from the BiDi amps to the mixer, you may have gotten something misconnected, shorted, or open in that area.

Just got my uBitx V6 full kit. After completing construction and connecting the antenna and power, I turned on the radio. I plugged my straight key into the key port, and the radio went into transmit mode sending out repetitive dots (or dashs?). I did that a couple of times before I discovered how to change the setting for hand key. Apparently, the default mode is for using a keyer. After changing the mode to hand key, the radio no longer transmits, nor is there a side tone. When I press the key, the radio tx light comes on briefly and then shuts off.
It seems unlikely that putting a straight key into the key port when it is set for a keyer, should cause any harm, but that's what seems to have happened. I have no idea where to look for the problem. I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and how they fixed it.

Does the receiver work ? if it does then check if you got voltage on TX
in the bidi amps.

Unfortunately I can't currently measure spurs or harmonics, but the hope
is that these fixes reproduce others' results.

but there's no RF), with either my computer hooked up (using e.g.
WSJT-X's "tune" button) or a microphone (+whistle test).??
The CW key still results in the power levels I measured after all the
fixes.
I also noted that there is a new smoky smell coming from the
board....?? Upon further inspection I noticed that some of the
2N2222As were a bit warm, but nothing else seemed out of the
ordinary.

from the microphone itself to C60, and it does indeed conduct.??

I do not know of a firmware version that has an S meter function and works with the stock v6 display.? The CEC versions work with either a character display like the original 16x2 display or a Nextion display.? The graphical display of the v6 takes up a lot of the scarce Nano resources to fill it out.? Not sure there is enough left to add any other features than those that come with the original firmware.??
You could try searching the messages on this list server to see if anything comes up.? Most that want an S meter function that I know of swap out the original display for a 2.8" Nextion and use the KD8CEC software.

If the S-meter code was written for the Nextion, yes, you will need to alter the code. To me, the Nextion has a weird way of displaying things, requiring the use of their editor. Perhaps the good thing about it is that you can save a screen to an SD card, which means you don't chew up that memory while it's not being displayed.
