Thank you for that information it is appreciated. I am really not a software person although I have spent 53 years in Hardware design. Maybe it's time I learn how to do some of this stuff. But as a hardware guy I'm always looking for an AGC voltage that I can convert for a logarithmic meter. I will look into this further.

Re: uBITX V6 Expanded System

that would be at the output of the audio pre-amp or the hot end of the volume control. You could feed bias the A7 and couple the audio to A7. With some gee-whiz coding you could get a very accurate S meter going.

Hi Gang:
Well I asked a few questions last week and got enough info to prompt me to order the mother board and display with Nano. Four days from India is certainly worth $10,00.
I published a video of the R&D and testing and all the ancillary parts, IE; tee-tuner, SWR/Power meters, 120VAC power and a decent audio section.

Additionally, I've been looking through the files section and perusing the schematic for a place to tap off an S-Meter voltage. Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: At my wit's end with this uBitx

Hi Grover,

What version of the uBiTX do you have?

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but did it work before you installed the Nextion? If so, does it work if you switch back to the stock hardware configuration?

Finally, where are you geographically located? Hard for anybody to volunteer their time hands-on without knowing where the rig is :P

Re: At my wit's end with this uBitx

Grover,?
Sorry to hear your frustrations.? I am hesitant to take on someone else's radio to repair.? I am not comfortable working on another's rig, afraid that I will damage something that would be hard to repair.? I am really confident making changes to my own equipment, as I can always patch together something to make it work.? The result is not always pretty.

I would hate for you to give up when you are so close.? A deaf, receiving only static uBITX is almost always due to calibration.? The 3 steps outlined in Farhan's video are required to be done in order.? If you do not have access to WWV, then any known AM statin can be used, including a rig in your shack, including a signal generator.? You just need to know the frequency of the AM carrier to do the calibration.? I have used my IC-7300 into a dummy load at lower power to set up a uBITX when WWV is not able to receive.? The WWV signal will just be more accurate.? Whatever you do, do not transmit full power on a 20watt+ rig with an antenna connected to the uBITX.? Q90 is easy to fry as there is no protection while in receive mode.? Back to Back 1n914 or 1n4148 diodes across pins 12 and 16 of K1 can prevent the issue.? That should be in the antenna circuit only on receive, so have no effect on the transmitter.

I have found for my QTH that when 10MHz WWV is not receivable that WWV on 5MHz usually is.? The third alternative is 20HMz, for me only during the day.? You could also try the 2.5Mhz and 15MHz frequencies as well.

Here is the link to the Ashhar Farhan video:

Good luck and sorry I have not been able to help you fix your rig.

At my wit's end with this uBitx

I have spent so many hours attempting to get this to work after installing the 2.8" Nextion and the appropriate software. I ended up with no receive except noise. No signals to be heard anywhere, not even WWV on 10.0
Calibrated and recalibrated, and then again. Changed the Arudino. Reload the sketch.
Is there someone who would be willing to take a look at this in person? I've had advice from the experts but now it's time to give it over to a hands on person.
If not, I'm going to sell it, cheap.

Thanks Vic for your good info and kind thoughts. I had no thoughts of getting involved with BITX until a friend gave up on building his kit. I have a QCX from QRP-Labs for CW. After getting first license (VA3CTA) in 1959 and basically being away from electronics and ham radio until??2016, it is hard to catch up on technology changes. I will take your suggestion and learn how to update Raduino software. I feel fortunate?to ?have this?hobby in retirement.

The BitX40 with the Raduino is a pretty neat rig and I still enjoy mine, particularly as a temporary mobile rig with a mag-mounted hamstick. The first thing you might do, Ted, is to install some upgraded software. Allard Munter. PE1NWL, wrote a wonderful sketch that does not require any hardware changes and fixes some issues on its own. Little things like tuning "clicks" and stability are vastly improved. Additionally, he has a number of very simple and well-illustrated hardware changes that add more and more functionality. You need only to install the free Arduino IDE software on your computer to compile and load the "sketch" to the Raduino, and it is fully reversable as the original sketch is also available n Github, but I doubt anyone ever goes backward. You can find Allard's sketch and documentation here:
