Re: Ubitx V6 Nextion 2.8" Display Modification
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSounds excellent. I may do what you did. I¡¯m looking at ways to save on current and I really like the CDC code. If you remove the 5v from the display I assume the radio will still operate? With your hookup it would be easy to add a switch. On Jan 6, 2020, at 4:50 PM, wb2cba@... wrote:

Re: CW Audio High Pitched and Thin

I use the CEC Memory Manager to set it on my rig.? I believe that the CEC software maintained the v4 type Calibration menu.? When you press the encoder a yellow rectangle with the stock menu items comes up and you roll through with the encoder to the Settings menu, press and then go back and select BFO.
Memory Manager can read the current configuration and save it so? you can try out a new setting, and always go right back to a prior one that worked. I used it for both of my Nextion display uBitx (v4 and v5). All of the links for the CEC software should be on this page: ? including Memory Manager. Post back if you have any issues. FWIW and YMMV 73 Evan |
Re: mbitx V5 versus V6
Dave,
Do not hold your Breath as you may turn a bit Blue. The "Early Adopters"? like usual got the shaft by Hf Signals, my $209 DHL Express? package had no Bubble wrap on any item if it was not for the DHL sturdy plastic bag the cheap cardboard box that contained the "kit" would have been all over the shipping world, I looked at my original 40 meter BTX and the box was 100% sturdier and that went via India Post. And we only have V5 with a low slow color display that may not be salvageable The Shock to me was? to? after find out after payment that the Firmware right out of the box has a bug dealing with 17 meters that requires a new load that I was not set up to perform .Disappointed at the Shoddy Packaging and Shipping protection.. I guess it was my mistake and assumption that a V6 radio would have all of the corrections of all of the previous versions but in reality is just a attempt by HF Signals to capture revenue before before the new year and getting a V5 board? cleared out and calling it a V6. I guess with the add-ons of the ALC and other ones to come after full discovering? the China clones of the little? DSP? color screen "KX3" like? radio? are looking much better in the long run. Best Regards. Steve AB2ET/4 |

Hi David,
I was describing the features of the Groups.io web interface.? I don't view groups using email because it doesn't make sense to me.? One misses all the other features of a group such as this hashtags feature, as well is the group wiki, files, and photo sections. Yep Dennis, but I think many have yet to discover the advantages of the feature, also, since I don't access the groups via emails, I'm not sure how the feature works there.? Maybe one can type in the hashtags manualy but I'm not sure? 73, Mark. |

Hi John -?
Thanks for the reply.? I haven't seen that setting - is it in the CW menu or the Calibration menu?? I'll look for it tonight when I get back to the shack. 73, Dean KK4DAS |
Hashtags!
Mark - N7EKU
Hi everyone,
Maybe these are a bit new to some groups.io users, but hashtags are a very handy way to keep the list organized, to receive just the posts you want, and to search for relevant posts.? They are also very easy to use! When you create a new post, there will be a box for a subject line at the top, and right below it, will be a drop-down box that lets you choose the appropriate hashtag(s) for your subject.? For example, if you had a question about calibrating your ubix v5 radio, you can choose the hashtags, "ubitx", "v5", and "calibration".? If you don't see a hashtag that you think is needed, and will be a good category for others to use, you can first go the the Hashtag link on the left of the page and down at the bottom of that page will be a box you can click to create a new hashtag. As a list user, you can go again to the Hashtag page and mute any topics that don't interest you.? For example, if you are not interested in the ubitx40, you can just mute all topics related to that. For searching, you also can use the Hashtag page.? Just click on one of the hashtags, and all posts that have the hash tag you chose will be listed for you! Cheers to everyone and HNY, Mark. |
Re: split the group
Interesting, but we still have lots of commonality.? Problems - well many of these are common between v3 and v4 - that owners may wish to still use and advance.? display and other upgrades may apply to all or several versions.? v6 is merely the new generation.? we also have different audiences for those enjoying a basic ubitx rig and one that is highly tricked out.? I think its best we stay together.? Be patient to be in community with all ubitx owners.?
enjoy your build and radiations.? Curt |
Re: custom filter for ubitx 4
Richard
not entirely sure 'what' custom filter opportunity you are referencing - but 'board headers' seems to be a clue.? I remember there are pad features to interface with a second crystal filter - this topic has certainly been on the lit.? if you seek CW - a good CW filter is best at a much lower IF than 12 MHz.? its easy to make from lower frequency xtals - designs abound.? the 'bad news' - need to to add some firmware instruction to retune the BFO when doing CW.? it needs to be proven (if it hasn't been) - but it is possible that the SSB 12 MHz and a say 4.9 or 5 MHz CW filter could co-exist in parallel without switching.? other v4 filters of interest - well something to reduce mixer spurious at 45 MHz.? v5 adds an LC filter.? I tried it on v4, in itself it does not have enough Q - so I suspect its part of a set of solutions.? adding a second 45 MHz xtal stage is popular - as reported here I tried it, it greatly reduced my CW transmit output.? I have since added SMT inductors with some shielding on the primary 45 MHz filter, so possibly it will work better - when I try it again.? for CW and narrower bandwidth SSB - I am using a NESCAF audio filter that I am happy with.? Re: split the group
Mark - N7EKU
Hi,
Yes for sure Bill.? Everyone should add a hashtag to their post based on the subject.? Most needed ones already exist. Just choose the appropriate one and it will be added automaticaly to your subject line. Notice, if you click on "Hashtag" on the left, you can mute whatever topic you don't want to receive.? Easy! 73 |

Re: split the group
Y'all are kinda mean!? I think it's a legitimate question to ask.
I agree the group should not be split, I don't agree with just dismissing the question.? I also think if we do better at putting the version / hashtag in the subject, it will be easier for readers to ignore messages that don't apply to them.? So please be sure to use #v4, #v5, #v6, etc. in your subject to help everybody! Cheers, ?- Bill? KB3T |

Here we go again. It seems every time a new version of one of the Bitx products, calls to split the group, create subgroups, add hashtags, etc come up. It's not likely to happen and most folks here don't want it to happen.
