Re: V4 TX problems and new finals #ubitx-help

ah...this is great! thank you and I'm on it.

Well, given that I've never actually measured voltage on any transistor I'm not totally sure what I'm on. haha.

Re: bitx v6 is here

Very good marketing move. Sir. There are many hams that don't know how to handle an iron.? One doesn't have to look past this list and see many radios that don't work because of poor assembly techniques.?

Maybe someone will just have to move from a v5 to a v6 and offer their old model for cheap,.

Re: Help wiring the microphone to a stereo female plug on BITX40

Oops,

Probably should have linked this one instead: /g/BITX20/message/46629

Plug the Mic plug into the female jack and use your DMM to check for continuity of the various pins - Mic Audio (Tip), PTT (Ring), and Ground (Sleeve).

Note that the supplied female jacks are switched-type jacks - continuity of the various pins changes when plugs are inserted.

Sorry for the confusion...

Re: bitx v6 is here

The circuit is exactly the same on the main board. We had to bring some od the ptt and cw keyer lines onto the main board to connect to the front panel.
That apart, we uses same data lines of arduino for the color display that we used earlier for the 16x2 display.

OK, found it. ?The basic kit version is up there in the header. ?Works now.

Can't buy the basic kit for $150 US though, only the $199 "Full Kit" version available for sale on HF signals.? Either fix this or lose a lot of sales.

Re: bitx v6 is here

^? Yes, if the firmware will work in a V5 and give a CW reader, that would be pretty neat even if just during demonstrations or show & tell.

I thought similar, if following the dedicated V6 page.....
then found the hyperlinks

From the hfsignals home page

there are the two pricing options shown each taking you to their own order page.

UBITX V6 ¨C BUY THE BASIC KIT

UBITX V6 ¨C BUY THE FULL KIT

It feels a lot like Xmas!

Is it possible to upgrade a V5 to the v6?? If so, what would be required?

I have added a morse reader already. I shall finish integration to the user interface soon.
Ill check the dhl option tonight. Do pass on any typos and mistakes. I pulled an all nighter and wrapped it up at 4 am.

Help wiring the microphone to a stereo female plug on BITX40

Hi...I've got a BITX40 project nearly complete, but I am having difficulty figuring out how to wire the microphone output to a female stereo jack. There are three lugs for two wires coming from the mic.

Thanks so very much.

People,

And of course, yoiu can buy it on . The shipping will happen from Tuesday onwards. We have a limited supply of the first 200 boards. The rest is for after christmas.

The most important thing about this revision is that the? Radio circuitry is almost unchanged. We have incorporated the connectors on the PCBs. So, this kit needs none of the confusing soldering. You snap in the TFT Raduino onto the main board, plug the power and antenna from the back, snap on headphones, plug in the mic (supplied with the kit) and off you go!

It is offered in two kits now : The basic kit (150 USD) is without the box (like old times) but with a microphone and two acrylic templates for the front and back panels.?
The Full kit (199 USD) has the box with speaker, mounting hardware?etc. Both are described on the website.?

Now, about the TFT display:?

For those who are using the 16x2 display and you would like to upgrade, you will have to do three things:
1. Add a heatsink to the 7805 of the raduino
2. Buy??and hook it up as per?
3. Grab the new Arduino sketch from?

Background :?
I have been hacking away at adding a TFT display for the Arduino for sometime. Finally, I managed to do this with a really inexpensive 2.8 inch TFT display that uses a controller called the ILI9341. The display update is slow but, clever guy that I am, the display very usable. it uses the same pins that earlier connected to the 16x2 LCD display. This display is available everywhere for a few dollars.?

At 13/12/2019, you wrote:
Two ways to go forward at this time:

1 - Measure the bias voltages on the transistors
2 - Remove the transistors and do typical diode check on each junction

I would do the bias voltage checks.

You are concerned with Q911,Q912, Q92, Q93, Q96 and Q97.

When I measured the voltages relative to ground I got aproximatly 12.3 volts on Q911 and Q912 collectors, 1.13 on the base and .46 on the emitter.

For Q92, Q93, Q96 and Q97 I measured 11.4 volts on the collectors, 1.12 volts on the bases and .46 on the emitters.

See if any of these transistors have the wrong bias voltages. That would indicate which ones to pull to test.

Note, the values are approximate. The important value is the difference between the base and the emitter. Should be around .7 volts. Indicates it is conducting properly and not shorted or open.

Only real test that I know is to measure the RF voltages, That is why I use a 100 MHz oscilloscope.

Try the above and let us know.

Ah...understood. I have both a dummy load and separate PA power supply, so I can lift that as well.?

Funny that the water heater started cycling last night. These things always go bad at either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Weird. So I'm fixing that first. Then back to the uBITX.

Thanks so very much!!!

I'll report back the results.
