David, as far any of my problems,? it was due to my lack of expertise and proper techniques.? I know that I have never suffered from lack of assistance.? Indeed you and the entire community has been exemplary and enthusiastic about helping.? Jack, all you need do is ask, and answers WILL be forthcoming.

Re: Kit projects AGC install - extremely frustrated.

In that picture it looks like the RF gain pot has not been adjusted yet. There is a range on it where it acts almost like a short to ground. To tune the knob to max you need to find an active signal and adjust it. Please do this next. Even if you think you have please do it again. The adjustment can be very finicky.

Jack your the only one who seems to have had a real issue with this. I can assure the the schematic is harder then the drawings we gave. I Know I screwed the first drawing UP! If your having issues with your unit please start a thread instead of derailing someone else's with your griping. The schematic for the OG circuit is available on ND6T's site. The only changes we have made are adding a 5v regulator, and wiring a switch up to pick a different time constant resistor. If your so confident that you can understand the schematic, Then good the part that relates to the switch is inside the instructions zip WITH indications as to what pads are what. If you can not seem to find them in the zip, Kelly here has posted them in the OP on this thread. The second picture has the correct wire up schematic for the switch.

As requested here is what i have done. Also have electrical tape underneath it to insulate the the board as in the instructions.?

We have not had any complaints about the directions you would be the 1st. To obtain them they are on the site in your account under downloads, can't get much simpler than that. It is stated on the product page as follows "All files are available in "My Account-My Orders-Downloads" If for any reason you can not get the files let us know and we will e-mail them."

I even sent them to you via e-mail.

We have tried to make them as simple as possible if you have any suggestions please let us know.

Re: NEXTION DISPLAY UPDATES For KD8CEC ver 1.094 up

Fantastic!

One question, how does one change the step on the tuning? In prior version, I could touch the step on the screen and a sub screen would come up where you could select 1000, 500, 100. I tried touching the "1000 hz" on the screen and no submenu came up. Has it been re-located? I have a 3.2" enhanced Nextion.

BTW: Lots of 3d bezels available at thinguniverse etc. Covers up a lot of sins....

Nano to esp32

Has anyone tried to Port CEC firmware from the nano to a esp32?
I would really like to give this beast a go and see how well it would perform in the ubitx.

bitx40 dumb questions!

hi!

I have just fixed up a bitx40 for a friend. I've loaded it with the firmware compiled from??and done all of the mods I can find for both that firmware and general rig stability. For LSB it works great! 10W, under legal limit for harmonics, IMD looks good. I'm happy! (I'm happy enough that I may want to go buy one for myself now..)

So, the four stupid questions I have:

* is it ok to run it from a solar setup? the friend in question has a solar setup that floats between 13 and 14.5v? Or will it get angry if you feed it above 13.8v?

* i needed to put that trim cap on the IF crystal to get it a little below the 11.995MHz it was sitting at - that and 12MHz didn't result in a good passband through the IF filter. Is that normal? I take it the 12MHz filter isn't always at 12MHz but it was quite off (like, could only get 1/2w out and was deaf as a brick before I tweaked it off)

* The VFO calibration is off by about 280ppm, and the USB offset for the above firmware was -1300ish Hz, rather than being /anywhere/ near the?+1500Hz it defaults to. Is that acceptable? That math feels a bit "off" somehow..

* .. and it's also quite a bit deafer on USB than LSB, even with the suggested two caps removed and max drive strength. I take it USB isn't the primary reason for this radio, but have others seen this?

Thanks!

Ubitx V5# CW Key not working# audio is harsh#

I ordered Ubitx (got V5) and shipping was 3 days - nice

1. Receive audio is VERY harsh, the audio freq response is tilted with much more gain at high freq audio.
Yes, I did the alignment, which helped some.?
I added a .1uF cap across the volume control to tame it down and this helped at lot (especially with headphones)
I also added 5K in series with the volume control to reduce the gain somewhat.?

2. I could not get the CW key to work. I could read the ADC fall to zero when I shorted out the key voltage.?
Yes, I used the resistor supplied. I looked on the scope on the key line and it looks normal and noise free.?
So the ADC on the nano is working, but I think the firmware is at fault.?

I attached a 10K pot to the key line so I could vary the voltage, I found keyer made dits at 5.3K and das at 9K.?
(roughly the center of the ranges) So I added these resistors to a keyer and it works (the timing is a bit off, some typos result)

Otherwise great rig, lots of fun

Cheers

I looked at the switch wiring "directions" and couldn't make any sense of the "illustration".? I'm going to look for a schematic today and see if I can figure out how to wire the switch.? The directions, which were too much trouble to obtain, are close to useless.

Hi everyone this is Kelly. Trying to install the kit-projects AGC Board and I have a question. Which one of these diagrams is right for the switch? Also I'm having trouble with the install. I am getting 12 volts to the board. However I am having issues. Now where I have I had great audio, I have barely nothing with the audio gain turned wide open. I have not tried to attach the s meter wiring yet. All other wiring connected. I fear its mis wired at the switch not sure.

Re: Ted

Thanks, Kelly...I thought it was there.

@Ted...just opened your hmi...looks good! For the CW, I am basically using the same CEC sketch, but I removed a lot of the painted items from the jpgs. I replaced with controls that I can manipulate easier. For example,?I noticed that you added the second decimal on the frequency. My preference is to use?a 5x5 or 7x7 button as a decimal?that I can control instead of editing jpgs. I also have minor stuff, like retaining cw info on system resets, no s-meter (have physical), different RIT layout, and a few others.

BTW, I haven't seen Joe on the board. He was working on the same thing for a 5" screen. Hope he got thru it.
