Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Tim, here's what I got this evening. Hopefully the numbers are good. They are similar to what I posted yesterday. The Vol-Hi measures are p-p done on an o-scope. There was a fair amount of noise at Vol-Hi maybe about 10mVp-p. It was tough getting a good connection.

Input?????? ADC???? A7(Vdc)??? Vol-hi(Vp-p)

-73dBm??????? 2???? 0.02??????? 20mV
-63dBm?????? 59???? 0.303?????? 72mV
-53dBm????? 158???? 0.795?????? 240mV
-43dBm????? 196???? 0.981?????? 660mV

I had to do the Vol-Hi measurements a second time after I realized it wouldn't work with the ADC on. (My turn to say, DOH)

Sascha,

maybe you can solve your problem of the noisy stepper motor using a low speed DC gear motor like this:

very low power consumption as well.

Re: separate CAT jack, without using the USB cable #ubitx #cat #raduino #arduino

Hi everybody,

for the OMs who where interested in this project, I have made two videos of the controller in use with the uBITX.

The 2 or better 3 points I am still trying to work on / which need improvement are

1.) The sound intensity of the stepper motor. This is really annoying. The problem is i think that the capacitor gets pushed to hard by the pulses of the stepper which causes the vibration noises.

2.) For tuning, the loop controller switches the radio to AM and reduces power. Both functions are not supported by the uBITX.

a.) For getting a tuning signal i made the loop controller firmware change the mode to CW instead of AM for tuning.
However it is not working, i need to manually use a CW key (also called screwdriver) to get a usable signal.

b.) I think (depending on the band) 15 to 5 Watts is still to much output while tuning - or worse - while not having a good SWR.
I need to figure out an easy way to reduce output, which can be controlled via cat - maybe by manipulating the bias of the finals or by switching in an attenuater with a relays.

Re: uBitx V5 Audio improvement

I have found that a 470 ohm in series with the 10 uF, seems to work well.

Its a big planet we live on. These rigs keep landing all over the world, from a small enterprise. Distract yourself by preparing everything for case assembly.? And explore what you may do later. Its a cool radio.

Re: Order Confirmation

Ok thanks guys. I ordered it DHL. I just wanted to make sure the order went through.?

Re: Order Confirmation

Which way did you order it? India post or DHL.? I ordered DHL and got full tracking info. If I remember right the website says if you order India post it is just the confirmation email no tracking.

Re: Order Confirmation

I went through the same thing.? For me, I contacted the email provided in the PayPal notice.? They ultimately responded that I would get a notification when the item shipped, which I did a couple of days later.? I never did get a notification that the order was confirmed.

It was almost two weeks from order to shipping notification for me.? I assume that was due to all of the interest in the new v5 boards.? Once shipped it arrived soon there after.

I would send the email to the PayPal vendor link, and wait another week.? They may still be back logged on the boards.

Order Confirmation

Hi all I ordered my kit about a week ago. I got a confirmation from PayPal but never got an order confirmation for the board. I looked on the website and there¡¯s no way to contact them to make sure the order actually went through. Did the rest of you get an order confirmation.

Thanks
George

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

I am under the impression the documentation has been fixed.
That aside. R70 is a good place to be taking the audio from no issues there.
I am fairly confident the issue stems from the drive level on the v4's being lower then the agc expects. I think the simple solution is going to be add another amplifier stage before the audio in on the AGC but not having a board my self it is hard to test this.
Digger could I get the measurements of Vol-High with those same measurements?

any ideea haw to fix this error?!but whene i try to write on raduino i get message thar is writing but no mesaje is receive....i use another pc and the same problem...the ubitx is new,out from the box....

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Thanks also, Tim, for these explanations. With the correct wiring instructions most of these questions didn't need to be answered.

As far as vol-high I'm taking it from the via hole at R70 which is just a few inches from the agc board.

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Hi!

Thanks to everyone for digging into this. I just added the AGC mod to my board and wondered about this behaviour. I'd love to know how to tweak the board to work on a v4 bitx.

Thanks!

Thanks for the links. I bought those exact ones when you posted the link. Yes I bought a pack of ferrites once thinking I only needed a few and ended up using the all and then needing to buy more. :)

I have found it interesting that toroids work when caps and coax don't work. Toroids are my go-to for rf noise.

I use these internally in radios A nextion display really benefits from them.

These on power cords and baluns.
and these around coax with PL259.

I bought 25 of each and thought that should last me a while. Ended up using almost all in 2 days. Shack noise when down a couple of S units. Wall worts have been particularly bad.

I know I had to search high and low for a 3.2 tft. And now I have a 5¡± and I had to redesign my own hmi file using CEC original 2.8 hmi. Some photoshopping and learning the nextion display editor and figuring out how the layouts are configured were required. Oh boy.?

Check with . ?Sunil might have a 3.5 TFT for you. That fits.?

All of this is true because I wasn't willing to dive into nextion file editing and had no interest in rolling my own, so I had to depend on the good efforts of others.? So thank you all the "others" out there. You rock, as they say.?

For the 4.3, I finally found this file?unitx_43B7_pd5dj.tft? out there that worked perfectly.

I love the 4.3 screen size by the way.? It seems a great compromise for good readability and has enough screen room for my stupid fingers. haahah.

Re: KD8CEC - Nextion Display - IAN questions

Hi Kevin,

The hmi/tft files over 2.8 are meant for you to resize yourself. It's not an easy task. I have several clean iterations for the 3.5". There are also a few floating around...you have to search for them. Rich Neese has a few that look totally different than what CEC gives as a template. The functionality is the same...just a different layout. All of my files are for the basic Nextion. I believe Rich has some for the enhanced. If you join the facebook group, you'll find many discussions. Evan's suggestions will also get you started.

Anyway, if you get stuck, please let us know...

Re: Create tft file from hmi?

Hi Dave,

When you compile the .hmi, the tft goes to user\appdata\roaming\nextion editor\bianyi

If you go to your file explorer, clear the top box, and type in %appdata% to get to the file system.
Select Nextion Editor
Select bianyi
Select your tft

Copy your tft from there and paste to your sdcard. Ready to load.

Create tft file from hmi?

I have been looking at customizing nextion displays and have a what may be a silly question. I have imported hmi files into the nextion editor but how do I export as tft so that the display can read it?

Am a little ignorant here.

Hope you can help.
