I have finally achieved the near impossible and cleared the back log of

2800 emails from the BITX20 list.? All posts of enduring interest

between 15 December and today have been turned into news items on

ubitx.net.

?

For those who haven't been on the uBITx information site lately, I had a

break over the NZ summer - at first because of travel and summer

vacation time - then because of ill health.? I had a fall and cracked

open my forehead.? It has recovered well, just that slight "gang

that were back-dated consistent with when topics were raised on the

With the release of the JackAl and then the v5 Board there has actually

been quite a bit of activity this year.

I made some judgement calls last year around the best mods for solving

the harmonics/spurs issues on the v3 and v4 boards.? I think these are

still valid and represent the easiest way of getting compliance (or near

compliance) for your uBITx (see the menu "fix" and then "spectral

purity").? I know that there are other mods and these are covered off in

the news items.? I suspect most folk want fixes that require minimum

effort - hence relay replacement and two replacement surface mount

chokes is what ubitx.net recommends.? Other solutions are a bit more

involved.

Hopefully all of you are still having as much fun as me at modifying

your uBITx.? I have a feeling that there are more mods just around the

Re: Abandoning my uBitx Ver 3

Will the new QSX be sold in assembled boards? O have a Genesis 30-20m I have been building since years. Although they have no SMD having a lot of components is a long process to mount, also the check of each stage takes a lot of time. I found the Ubitx far easier to have it done. The only mod that was not easy was the relays replacement and this was due because they were through hole! If the were SMD I think they would have easier to remove! What I like in this ubitx SMD boards is that components are spaced quite enough to allow easy mods with through hole components just mounted in a Manhattan style. I had mounted through hole kits that were a mess in case I had to replace one single component.

Re: The issue I spoke about on the V4 with 20m and CW FCC tests

Laurence, how much power do you get on CW on the affected band and on 40m? Which SA are you using? Can you add another 20db attenuator to see if there is any changes?

Re: Abandoning my uBitx Ver 3

Maybe a v6 will come out in a year or so, maybe never.
For now it is just vague speculation on the part of forum members.
Nothing has ever been said about anything beyond v5 by either Farhan or HFSignals.

The Bitx40 with Raduino first came out in Dec 2016.
It still ships now the same as it did then.

Re: separate CAT jack, without using the USB cable #ubitx #cat #raduino #arduino

HEUREKA -

It finally works!!!

John, that was the solution - the 1k Resistor in the TX line of the loop controller circuit.

I was a bit afraid of bridging it first , soI changed it to a much smaller value - and finally the voltage dropped low enough so
that the Raduino was able to recognize, decode and answer the incoming signal.

Thanks a lot for your help! I had not really been optimistic that I would be able to make it work. Your insight and advice really made the difference!

And thanks Gary also for your note. That had been one of my first steps, changing the the RX and TX lines.
