Imho, many hams have ceased to operate the ubitx until they make the mods to be fully compliant. Others just like to test the board to learn and experiment. Last weekend many active ops were busy for the cqwwcw contest. The 40m band also is not that wide outside North America, in Europe we cannot go beyond 7200, so having two rarely used separate frequencies one for NA and one for the outside does not help. Personally I would operate at or around 7177mhz, regardless of the CQ zone, the time and the day of the week.

That is a very nice design. The outer case looks like the case I bought at Harbor Freight. I was thinking about mounting the uBITX and a Raspberry Pi in it, also. I just bought a 3D printer, I may go with your design. Although, I'll likely mount the uBITX board to an aluminum plate and add a little shielding.?

By the way here is another interesting 3d case design I saw while I was poking around for uBITX and Amateur Radio things on Thingiverse.?


Judging from the number of uBITX things I saw, it looks like the people that hang out on this group are just the tip of the iceberg of the number of people that are doing things with uBITXs.?

On a windows 10 machine using a v3 ubitx.

I'm trying to use CAT control for my ubitx?with wsjt-x.? I select FT-817 as rig type, set baud to 38400 and COM3 (after loading CH340 driver).? I see:
tx > rx?on the LCD and then some 'random' hexadecimal characters, something like the following:
80:ff80ff080
40:ff0040fff
etc.

wsjt-x fails in connecting to the ubitx?though I can see some comm's are taking place.
I downloaded xloader and reloaded the firmware, that seems to work just fine (I also note that xloader?uses 57600 and not 38400, I've tried 57600 on wsjt-x, no success there either)

Do I have to download newer firmware or should I be loading the K8CEC 1.097 (1.1)?

I’m not sure if you guys found the correct support for 3.2 or 3.5 or larger but I found the right files by searching. I can try to find the link if you’re having difficulty looking, but the right files are out there.?

Yes, listened at 3PM EST (2000 GMT) and heard K0MBT calling CQ. We had nice chat, BitX40 to uBitX, about 843 miles. Times for the weekly 7277 Sunday meet are 3PM and 7PM local time, although that seems to translate to always Eastern time from what I hear.

my ubitix v.3.0 worked fine but since yesterday on the lcd i have only "ubitix and v.080" no more frequency !

I've always used 450degF with my smd stuff and have never had a problem
soldering anything. I don't use a pointed tip but one with a small flat
on the end, a *very* small flat. Don't remember where I got it but it
works. The only problem with it is that when it gets hot it bends
easily so you have to be careful about the pressure you put on it.
