Bitx40 Power Supply - stackeing 4 2032 Lithium coin batterieis?

I was thinking of powering my new Biitx40 with 4 2032 lithium coin batteries, but I don't know how to create a holder for them. Does anyone have an idea?
Also, is this idea even feasible?
Thanks so much (in advance) for your answers.

Re: Raduino clicking when microphone is connected or keying CW. #ubitx-help #radiuno

Addendum to the above: It's not so much a squeal, more like a noise you'd hear on Space Invaders or Galaga or something. Sorry for the non-technical explanation, but I don't know what else to call it.

Re: Raduino clicking when microphone is connected or keying CW. #ubitx-help #radiuno

Y'all were correct about the ground connection and ptt being reversed. That problem is now fixed, but when I key up, there is a lot of squealing in addition to my voice coming out of the receiver I am using to test transmitting.

I'm grasping at straws here, but usually when I find the upload hangs, it's for one of two reasons. First, I don't have the CH340 driver installed. Many clones don't use the expensive UART of the original Nano, hence the need for the driver. Just google "CH340 download". Second, the chip was shipped with an early bootloader. If that's the case, the Tools menu will have a bootloader option. Try the ATMega328 (old bootloader), reload the IDE and see if that fixes it. (I don't have one that causes the bootloader menu to appear any more, but it's under the Tools menu.)

Let people know if either helps.

Re: Raduino clicking when microphone is connected or keying CW. #ubitx-help #radiuno

I had a similar situation.? It turned out to be my mic jack was slightly loose at the case (the mounting screw was snug but not super tight).? When I plugged the mic in, I was inadvertently (and unknowingly) twisting the entire jack clockwise and it was shorting the mic wiring on the pins against the LCD display assembly.? To correct the problem I rotated the jack away from the short, tightened the mounting screw, and (for good measure) placed some electrical tape between the jack wiring and the LCD display assembly.? Not sure if this will work for you but it did the trick for me.

The other ubitx is powered by a 2 amp cheap chinese wall wort. It shouldn't work but does fine. Also have a Bitx40 that I generally run battery operated.?

Re: Raduino clicking when microphone is connected or keying CW. #ubitx-help #radiuno

Possibly you have ptt and ground reversed on your microphone connection, as I had same symptoms when I did. Disconnect ptt or ground to see if problem goes away.

If you are using the case from India, then check the front mounted hub board for solder bridges or poor connections.

Raduino clicking when microphone is connected or keying CW. #ubitx-help #radiuno

Hello, solder-melters,

I'm experiencing constant clicking from the raduino when my microphone is plugged in. The display indicates it is switching from RX to TX continuously. When I disconnect the microphone, it stops. If I key up the PTT, the clicking stops and I am able to transmit. I can hear myself on a receiver, so the microphone is working. As soon as I let go of PTT, the radio continues to switch between RX and TX, clicking the whole time. I have re-soldered all connections to the jack, and also the microphone in an attempt to troubleshoot, but this resulted in no change.

I wired up the key jack for a straight key. When I key CW, I hear a continuous tone behind my dits, and when I cease transmitting, the tone continuous for about a second, then the raduino clicks and the radio returns to RX.

I'm not experienced and have no idea where to start troubleshooting. I've made sure all connections are solid, but I'm starting to wonder if this is a software issue. I am running version 1.08 of KD8CEC's firmware.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks for the info. ?I know switching supplies are known for being noisy, and I don¡¯t have the test equipment to check how clean the output is. ?Appreciate the advice on your experience. ?

Some laptop style power supplies are noisy but I have had good luck with 12 volt 30 amp switching power supplies on Amazon for under $20 with Prime.?? Now I have more than enough power to run my 70 watt Chinese amp kit too.

I¡¯m sure this has been covered but I would like to know what are the favorite power supply options for the Ubitx. (12v 3a). ?No plans to be portable so either a bench top unit or something I can mount in an enclosure for the radio. ?Also with some of the other options I am seeing, maybe I will need other voltage outputs. ? Thanks!

Re: Finally got my ubitx on the air!

I found it, a Plessey SL6270C. Thanks very very much for the schematics with the indication of the easy mod to do on the ubitx. It will make it in the next weekends.

Re: Ubitx working, audible tone over signals on RX

I and a relative both implemented the Nextion screen with the CEC software and have experienced the same issue.? Filtering, putting it on a seperate regulator does not solve the problem.? The only thing that has worked so far is either a totally seperate supply (common only at the ground to the display), or to run at full brightness as Geoff has stated.

Looking into separate regulator with low pass filter to see if that solves the problem.

This might be old news to some but was new to me. I saw the mic preamp for using a dynamic mic with radios designed for electrets in the Hints and Kinks column of the Dec 18 QST. It is only 4 parts and is powered by the radio's voltage to the electret. I was getting voice peaks of 5 to 10 watts on 80m with the electret and with the dynamic and preamp went to 15 w. I am in CA and a station in AZ said the signal was stronger and better audio quality. I am using an inexpensive Audiotechnica dynamic mic. When I look on the panadaptor on my QRO radio, I did not see any spurs. I made it with parts from my junk box so the cost was zero and I can use it with my other QRP rigs. 73 and Happy Thanksgiving, Mike KF6KXG
