Re: Raduino clicking when microphone is connected or keying CW.

I had a similar situation.? It turned out to be my mic jack was slightly loose at the case (the mounting screw was snug but not super tight).? When I plugged the mic in, I was inadvertently (and unknowingly) twisting the entire jack clockwise and it was shorting the mic wiring on the pins against the LCD display assembly.? To correct the problem I rotated the jack away from the short, tightened the mounting screw, and (for good measure) placed some electrical tape between the jack wiring and the LCD display assembly.? Not sure if this will work for you but it did the trick for me.

Re: Power supply
We have two ubitx radios. One runs off a 20v old laptop supply. I made a linear regulator from a 317 to run the main radio at 13.7v and the finals run off of the 20v. I have engineered larger heat sinks and a ducted fan. The output transistors don't get warm even with running continuously at full power for several minutes. Puts out about 20watts on the lower bands. This power supply fits in the radio box.
The other ubitx is powered by a 2 amp cheap chinese wall wort. It shouldn't work but does fine. Also have a Bitx40 that I generally run battery operated.? |

Possibly you have ptt and ground reversed on your microphone connection, as I had same symptoms when I did. Disconnect ptt or ground to see if problem goes away.
If you are using the case from India, then check the front mounted hub board for solder bridges or poor connections. |
Raduino clicking when microphone is connected or keying CW.

Hello, solder-melters, I wired up the key jack for a straight key. When I key CW, I hear a continuous tone behind my dits, and when I cease transmitting, the tone continuous for about a second, then the raduino clicks and the radio returns to RX. I'm not experienced and have no idea where to start troubleshooting. I've made sure all connections are solid, but I'm starting to wonder if this is a software issue. I am running version 1.08 of KD8CEC's firmware. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Thanks for the info. ?I know switching supplies are known for being noisy, and I don¡¯t have the test equipment to check how clean the output is. ?Appreciate the advice on your experience. ?

Power supply
I¡¯m sure this has been covered but I would like to know what are the favorite power supply options for the Ubitx. (12v 3a). ?No plans to be portable so either a bench top unit or something I can mount in an enclosure for the radio. ?Also with some of the other options I am seeing, maybe I will need other voltage outputs. ? Thanks!

Re: Finally got my ubitx on the air!
I found it, a Plessey SL6270C. Thanks very very much for the schematics with the indication of the easy mod to do on the ubitx. It will make it in the next weekends. Il 22/nov/2018 18:25, "iz oos" <and2oosiz2@...> ha scritto:

Re: Ubitx working, audible tone over signals on RX
I and a relative both implemented the Nextion screen with the CEC software and have experienced the same issue.? Filtering, putting it on a seperate regulator does not solve the problem.? The only thing that has worked so far is either a totally seperate supply (common only at the ground to the display), or to run at full brightness as Geoff has stated. Looking into separate regulator with low pass filter to see if that solves the problem. Evan AC9TU |
Re: Finally got my ubitx on the air!
Excellent! If I have the same part I will follow this schematics. That part is very military and sounds very good on air. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWith CEC s/w I have experienced this tone. It is generated by the circuit used to adjust the screen brightness. Click on CW Panel (bottom left of screen), click on screen brightness, I found that increasing the brightness clears the tone!! Good luck ? Geoff G3NPI ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? |

Excellent for the VOGAD, you can just whisper and have QSO! I Believe I have a spare Plessey like u used, which circuit have u used? I would be pleased to replicate it!
