Re: JackAl System Preview

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello Jack and Al,

?

I finally (!) completed the uBITX kit and it works to some degree¡need to do more checking to make sure everything is OK.

?

I believe I had already signed up for a ¡°JACKAL¡± board, but if not, here we go!

?

I am currently trying to find a decent (!) bezel for the 5 inch touch screen display. I am currently printing a Thingiverse one, and will share with the group if successful.

I may have to sketchup something if this don¡¯t work. Anyone else using a 5inch and have a plan for the bezel?

?

Thanks for all you do.

?

Regards,

?

Jack & Al, Please consider a Max-Kit with everything we need to make our uBitx into the ultimate uBitx with option of display size.? It looks fantastic.

Re: Ubitx LCD 1602 Problem #ubitx-help

I saw somewhere in a random Googling session a fix for for not all the screen working. In that fix the person bent the metal tabs on the back of the display, removed the front bezel and repositioned the little elastomer strips that connect the back of the LCD to the front of the circuit board.?

It could be something that happened to the electronics board, repairable or not.

Another possibility, when the contrast control is out of adjustment on my LCD module the top and bottom rows can be different "brightnesses". Maybe your module has a similar behavior, only with the left and right sides.

Ron:

I think Jim will confirm this: The PJRC audio board really does not complicate the wiring because it plugs into (piggybacks) the Teensy. For Al and I, however, a primary reason for using their audio board is because of the libraries that support it. DSP stuff is much easier because of the work Paul and others have done on the libraries. The libraries alone are worth the $14 cost of the board.

Re: Ubitx evolving fixes updated to wiki? #ubitx # -help #ubitx

Oh I think i get the process really well and plan todo it once I get my radio back from my friend who is making a case for it. I have a hot air re flow station so the process is less then daunting.I was just hoping for completed pictures as a reference. That being said if need be in a week or 2 I can take them my self. I need to get an attenuator for my speccy so I can test responses and such as well. Hmm.

So I think my main question is, In the picture on the wiki I am re-routing all the wires in the RED circled area? Sadly the English does not seem to be 100% clear and makes me want to believe i need to rip out all the blue as well?

Re: EMI ferrites 'raduino' and 'audio' connectors

Definitely the 16 pin connector on the bottom of the Raduino should NOT go through any kind of ferrite "brick". ?At least not the end where the clock signals are brought out. ?I tried doing this once using a long "stackable" ?male-female header to allow all pins to pass through a ribbon cable EMI Ferrite block I had on hand. ?The Ferrite EMI filter (unknown mix but probably type 43) attenuated the clock signals to the point where the uBITX did not receive or transmit at all.?

I put the cylindrical "snap on" ferrites for coax on both the digital wires coming from the Raduino and the Audio wires coming from the main board with very little effect on any RFI. ?I only had type 43 ferrites though and perhaps if type 31 "snap on" Ferrites could be found they might produce better results.
