I haven¡¯t even build my uBitx yet. Maybe in the winter. Where can I have a look at these LPF¡¯s from Hans. It¡¯s not a killer for me. I¡¯m sure I can still have fun with the radio, it will definitely be a digital mode radio for FT8 for sure so as long as it has a few uses, I¡¯ll be fine. I¡¯m not looking for perfection.?

Jim,

Try this input to q90 Isolate the other stuff from loading the input to the amp,
output at T11 before the filters (cut trace).??
Doing that requires tracking generator but yyou can sweep it by hand?
using a any RF generator (measure direct then measure through).

Run that at 3db/division to see the droop is power and gain.? When I've done
that on many samples they all sag about 10-12db from 3-30mhz.? Its not the
IRF510 its all in the stages before it.? The IRF510 can be flat but in that
design it also sags about 2-3db because, long leads, transformers not
optimum, board layout.

Re: Can we start using SUBGROUPS? uBiTX, biTX40, QRPKITS, Original BiTX20, Homebrew, Other?

Rather than spend a lot of time wondering if we are for or against the creation of subgroups, can we be informed about uBitx compliance in transmission.
In the meantime I still do not know if I can use my uBitx v3 (bought while mounted at Farhan) in broadcast on all the bands without disagreeing with the authorities. What changes must be made to comply?
I will use my uBitx in issue and if I have problems with the French regulatory authorities I will notify my seller.

Sorry.

What is to prevent someone from creating a new group for uBITX?
Is it absolutely necessary for "various BITX projects" to be in the same group?
It only adds to the confusion factor.
At the very least each email subject should preface content of email with uBITX:, or BITX20: ; or BITX40:

Technically,? coming from a Navy background, BITX20 has "plank" ownership of subject mater here on this mailing list.
So it is up to the owner and/or moderator to decide how to proceed.

This group to me is a total mess. I have a?¦Ìbitx. I am not interested in the 40? or the 20!!!!

The fact that many people would have to be moved over or rejoin a meaningfully named group just illustrates the extreme short shortightedness? in the first place.

Of course the chances are that no one is interested in what I do or what I have found with the four?¦Ìbitx I have, we'll never know as it is at the moment.

If you reduce the grid size on that page say by half for x and y it will compile. I don¡¯t remember the I¡¯d number but it appears in the upper left corner in the grid. Select it an the attribute page will come up. Go to the bottom and change the h and w values

Allan, ?i used BNC attenuators to calibrate between S 7 1/2 and 25 over,?

It was clearly 12 DB per S unit between Sseven and S9. ?Six DB attenuator change changed it half an S unit. ?Between S9 and 25 DB over it seem to be relatively correct with the DBS.?

I have not calibrated it below S7

I don¡¯t have a easy to use stepped attenuator. ?So I had to do this by changing in and out fixed attenuators. ?

Re:- the before & after figures

I don't know the Icom 718, as a background just in case someone else tries to repeat your tests. It's normally quoted as 6dB per S point.

Pretty much all radios will be different. Its a repeatable test to the same reference value on the meter on the same radio but not necessary beyond that, the meter reading may be non-linear etc.

Alison suggested the stepped attenuator approach to bring the fundamental down to the same indicated level on the meter as the harmonic, the amount of added additional attenuation indicates the harmonic reduction.
The measurement accuracy is then transferred to that of the attenuator,? and is more easily characterised.
It is also transferable to other peoples measurements regardless of method, by radio or a spectrum analyser etc.
Can Alison comment?

(so on 30 meters, the 3rd harmonic was basically demolished)??

In previous testing on 14 MHz, I cant go any farther than the 2nd harmonic and it was S0 (no reading) so not much for me to work on profitably there...and that is the filter that I damaged.

This looks overall, like a huge success.? ?The only oddity is the 7th harmonic of the 80 meter signal (why??)? ?but even it may be down 42 db.? ?On these bands, my crude testing indicates that even CW now either passes with flying colors or is very very close to it.? ?If I shield or even twist a ground around the INPUT (red in the photographs) wire it may get better.
