Re: Raduino Pill
Hi Kees!
I stumbled upon this post while doing Google searches on Raduino. It is, of course, about my Raduino Pill board which is a direct replacement for the stock Raduino, but with an STM32F103 processor and much more I/O. I think it hits all the points on your wish list. I released the PCB to fab a few weeks ago and am waiting for boards to arrive from China. Assuming it functions without major rework, I'll post the CAD files and Gerbers on my web site and encourage others to develop for it. I plan to immediately mod the stock uBITX firmware to run on it, then will expand functionality to incorporate the work I've done with TFT displays, hi-res encoder and software S-meter & AGC. I've cleared my bench in anticipation of arrival and am checking the mailbox every day. Joe |

I have Ian's firmware version 1.08 and put three momentary switches with resistors between pins 4 and 5 on the encoder.? The resistor values ar 150K, 220K.,and 470K Ohms.? When I press them and click the button to read the ADC values I get 3, 5, and 6.? Those values are not useful.? I am not sure hat I may be doing wrong.? Can anyone here give me a clue?
Thanks and 73. Dan, W2DLC |

开云体育Okay, I just noticed the second photo and it does look like you have the source and drains swapped. ?Might there be a short between them. ?I’d check out each transistor for a short using a ohmmeter. ?With the power cable to the board disconnected you should see an open circuit.Clark Martin KK6ISP

Re: The new uBITX boards are here
I made the mod to my V3 board to change C81 (near Q90) from 0.1 uF to 470pF,? this was to get more even output power across the bands as suggested by
Farhan.? After doing this my output dropped to about 500 mW !? I was worried that I might have toasted Q90 (literally) in the process so I went back to 0.1 uF for C81 and I am now back at the previous power levels, so obviously Q90 is still fine.?? After looking at the schematic again, it occurred to me that I either installed the wrong value cap at C81 or perhaps making this change necessitates re-adjusting the trimmer pot RV1 ?? ?Can anyone who has successfully made this mod to their v3 board tell me if this is the case?? Thanks? Michael VE3WMB? |

I have an Unbuilt UBITX Ver 4 with matching Blue Cabinet for sale.? I want $180 shipped via Priority Mail. Text me 619 518 2547 I just am not motivated to build another superheterdyne transceiver. Not since I discovered SDR direct Sampling.

开云体育Did you reroute the pins on the RD16HHF!, the are in a different arrangement than the IRF510. ?The IRF510 is GDS, the?RD16HHF1 is GSD. ?Swapping the source and drain will blow the fuse like that. Clark Martin KK6ISP

You can also support the Arduino group through direct contributions on the download site. I encourage everyone to make a contribution each year. See: If they add a true symbolic debugger, I'll make an extra contribution! Jack, W8TEE

It the signals are strong enough to fry Q90 the mixer will soon be gone too.
The BE junction is as robust as the mixer diodes.? so whatever you are seeing is quite strong and could even be ESD. For ubitx (V3 or 4) a pair of back to back 1n194/4148 diodes from K3 Pin14 to ground is the best bet as then its only there for RX and has no impact on TX. Bitx 20 and 40 the solution is different. Its easily done on the back of the board. Allison |

开云体育Stuff that doesn’t get through the filter can fry Q 90 and never get clipped by the diode mixer.....For example, 2 meters?
TV?
I still don’t buy the distortion argument, otherwise Q90 ?would be creating exactly the same distortion. ? We haven’t heard anyone complaining of that have we?

Re: 3.2in Nextion display now looks great.
开云体育Depends. ?What changes did you make? ?They need to be documented so I know what they are supposed to do. ?I try not to install anything in any of my radios before I understand what it does or at least is supposed to do. You need to start creating instruction files to go along with your changes to any firmware so others can understand what you did. Q90 is the one that would fry if the antenna was hooked up and a nearby QRO station was operating. Or a nearby electrical storm was operating. Q13 of the Bitx40 often blow in this way. The back-to-back diode fix of the Bitx40 is not such a good idea on the uBitx because the uBitx is wideband up to the 45mhz filter, and the diodes can distort all that incoming RF. We don't hear much about Q90 blowing on the uBitx,? likely because the diodes in the first mixer conduct before there's real trouble. Here's an old thread on this:??/g/BITX20/topic/7715656 Jerry,? ?KE7ER On Tue, Jul 17, 2018 at 12:50 PM, Peter Parker wrote:

开云体育Q 90 is exactly the one to be destroyed by a strong signal coming in from Antenna. ?Differing ideas on how to protect that have been discussed here:?/g/BITX20/topic/ubitx_front_end_overload/7558175?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,0,7558175
*If they are being destroyed by strong signals, that’s just the diode mixer is not protecting them.
