The v4 audio works fine but a little low on gain. Farhan has inadvertently forgotten to add that extra component required. The mod is extremely simple, anyone can do it. At low volumes you can distinctly hear the improvement and increase in volume. The change was made so that uBitx will not depend on chips that are obsolete or parts that may become.. I sincerely dislike the LM386! Raj At 10-07-18, you wrote:

I came back to town after a few weeks and found the raduino misbehaving. It would not program from the PC but would display normally.. I finally reset it and that bricked it! Replaced the nano and all is well. Raj At 10-07-18, you wrote:

Instead of omit the keyer, i use a switch to activate and use the CW as a constant carrier signal for antena tunning. It's easier than say Helooooooooooooooooooo!

Hams are in all walks of life and every one of us have divergent, other interests besides our professions - or how we earn our livings - and our ham radio hobby. We make some attempt at staying "on topic" in the forums and that tends to hide all those interesting other faces we all have. At the same time, those other faces are exactly what drags us off topic so often :) That is not all bad:) 73, Bill KU8H On 07/10/2018 01:07 AM, Mike aka KC2WVB wrote:

I now use a 2 volt green diffused LED which is easy to see but not as bright as the original but it does not load the output as before.

Re: Crystal CW filter with Version 4 uBITX boards?

Doesn't look bad.
For the record, I have not duplicated the in and output transformers for the extra xtal filter. So I only use L1 to L4 and let them transform both frequencies. Yesterday I had a? mistype, I use 8 xtals and not 10, my wide filter is the normal one from the original schematic. Alex |

Hi Jack,
thank you for help and Infos.
sorry I can use the pc but can¡¯t work with him.
have no idea how I can realise all this stuff.?Theorie and practice are often different.
Now I am pretty disappointed about myself. Perhaps my son (which is much more interested in computing)
can find a solution with your helpful hints and tips.
Kind regards, Elmar.

I don't know if this is your problem, but you may not have the device drivers install for your system. Look in the drivers subdirectory off the main directory (e.g., C:\Arduino1.8.5\drivers) and look for the drivers program dpinst-amd64.exe. Try running that. You must then reload the Arduino IDE to activate the new driver. When you look in the Tools --> Board menu item, your Arduino should be selected. Using the menu Tools --> Port, you should see some COM port selected. If so, try to recompile your program.

Just for fun I simulated a dual filter 12MHz and 3.58MHz crystal filter using ltspice. I got the 12MHz crystal parameters from a Dave Jones video demonstrating the Bode 100. The 3.58MHz crystal parameters are just the default from the AADE filter program.

uBITX raduino no if output help please
Hi all, I have been away from the uBITX groups and pages for a while. My uBITX has developed a problem some time ago and I have just got around to trying to sort it out.
It seems the raduino is at fault. I am not getting any IF frequencies out of it. The 25mhz crystal is oscillating?and the LCD is indicating frequencies etc, but no measureable IF outputs from the raduino board. it still has the original firmware from the early production uBITX kits. What is my best course of action? reflash the raduino firmware or is it more like a hardware issue? thanks in advance. -- Mike VK3XL |

Bill,? We were a bit different when we were boys presumably,? in the late 50's and early 60's. You loved electronics and I loved carpentry and never gave electronics more than a passing glance. When I was 5 or 6 I tried to talk my grandpa into the two of us building an airplane but he turned the concept down for a later go. However I did build a boy size stage coach and later a small canal boat around the age of 11 or 12. So, carpentry and no electronics has been in my blood for a very long time and the only thing I like as well is the field I went into which is pure mathematics which I can bore the scrap out of most people if they allow me to start on the topic but I do find electronics a fun hobby none the less. Re: ubitix v4
I got around that by plugging the radio into a little "Honeytone" audio amplifier.
it's available in several colors. I have one in Burgundy. That link is to one in Aqua. It has great sound for its size. If you want to use headphones, you can plug them into the amplifier rather than unplugging from the rig. |
