Re: uBitxr4 audio distortion fix
Tried another uBitxr4 board and had the same problem.

I recommend this mod for everyone. Solder the pot and ZERO it and at low volume with the band background noise increase the preset and you will notice the volume increasing. Leave it a little more than the point you get max volume of noise. I am sure that will work for the best. Yes I am currently using V1.094 beta with the Nextion 2.8" Display. ?I will upgrade to V1.095 and try that. Cheers Michael VE3WMB? |
Hi,
I want to expand the amount of digital and analog I/O pins available to add enhancements to my uBITX. To do that I created a Smart LCD Backpack to replace the commonly found ones on the inexpensive 2x16 and 4x20 I2C displays found on eBay and Amazon. I uploaded a library to GitHub that allows you to program a Arduino Nano to emulate the common I2C to parallel backpack used on the I2C displays. The Smart I2C Backpack, additionally, allows you to read and write the analog and digital pins on the Smart I2C Display Backpack. The package includes a interface library that you include in your code to interface with the Extended I/O functionally. Also included are two example Sketches. One is the code you program into the Smart Backpack. The other is a demo/test program you program into another Arduino and connected via the I2C buss to the Smart Backpack Display. The Smart Display Backpack should work with firmware using standard I2C LiquidCrystal drivers such as the?KD8CEC firmware. The code uses the following libraries: The are all installable from the Arduino library manager, the GitHub URLs are just for reference. SoftTimer.h ?//https://github.com/prampec/arduino-softtimer
Also requires:
LiquidCrystal_PCF8574.h
Hope others enjoy this new display and I/O expander.?I believe these are part of the base Arduino software install. Wire? LiquidCrystal Here is the link to the code. |

Good stuff. Just put one together myself. A little separate breadboard which I used a small portion so as to have room for another mod or two. Installing the Nextion 3.2 tomorrow. Love the ability to mod and work with it. Great value for the money. 73 Don Meyerhoff WA2SWX On Tue, Jul 3, 2018, 8:19 AM Nigel G4ZAL <nigel@...> wrote: Forgot to mention, I also swapped out R70 from 100 ohms to 1K. |

Is the fan quiet, or does the rcvr pick it up?I tried a couple of fans from old PC supplies. They were all very noisy. What I did to solve the problem was to put a resistor (maybe 10 ohms; don't remember and not taking the radio apart) in series with the fan and a fairly hefty capacitor across the motor. The fan still moves more than enough air and is both electrically and acoustically quiet. ? -- John - WA2FZW |
v4 pop-fix on a v3 board

Nigel G4ZAL
I added the v4 pop-fix to my v3 board by placing components directly onto the v3 board.
Start by drilling a small hole (0.7mm in my case) to the right of R70 so as to be able to fix the 2N7000 transistor.? Pin 2 of the 2N7000 is soldered on the underside of the board (ground). Scrape a little varnish from the tracks and tin ready to fix the 2N7000. I added some Kapton tape to stop any shorting of components. Add the remainder of the components and run a bit of enameled wire to the trace near the raduino headers to pickup the T/R line. Ignore the cutouts on the front of the board, I had to hack away a little to clear the 3.5mm sockets on my case (I had to add a small length of enameled wire on the underside as I had hacked through a board trace). So far, so good with no problems to report. Nigel. |

Hi Len, ?????????? From a unusually hot uk. ???????????????????????????????????????????????? My both my ubitx versions 3 and 4.3 are both ?in plastic cases and I have not encountered any problems on any of the bands I have used,.my only mod is adding KD8CEC software to one of my radios the other is on line for a nextion display and then also Ians software. lan and everyone who replied me
I did not use uBITX manager. But I have understood that using uBITX manager is essential to set? CW offset and for uBITX. Now everything has been cleared by setting uBITX manager as follows ? ?- Enabled Adjust CW Frequency
?? - Shift Display Frequency on CWL, CWU Mode Frequency displayed by uBITX and my ICOM rig is completely same!! Thank you for your support!! I have started to promote uBITX in Japan. English as the language is the one of the big wall for most of Japanese people. Even for me, this TX -RX frequency issue was hard to find the solution. So I will make the article on my blog in Japanese about this topics. 73! Akira JJ1EPE |

Hi Nick,
I will make the final Gerbers available along with all the relevant information to enable the PCB's to be manufactured, I'll also share the circuit diagram and a board overlay in PDF so it can be built.? Please note; I used 0.5W resistors (as this is what I had), but from a space point of view it would make a lot more sense to use 0.25W so the components aren't so cramped.? The Arduino is mounted on headers so it can easily be removed for programming.? I used the following TOKO colis - KXCA K2036 AAY (with the capacitor removed) for the low pass filter and KANS1508 PAM for the broadcast filter in the receive section.? The Si5351 board is a standard Arduino board that is readily available - do a google search for "SI5351A Clock Generator Breakout Board".? The Toroids are mounted on DIL headers along with the diodes for the ring modulators as I found it much easier to do this than try and put them directly on the board. There is no provision for an electret condenser microphone as I specifically wanted to use a standard 600 ohm dynamic mic. I'll upload a zip file with all the information in it, hopefully in the next few weeks other commitments permitting! 73's Peter M0HYT |

Len,
the enclosure is metallic from amateur radio kits in India, so it should be well shielded. |

Micheal Are you using 1.094 Beta with Nextion LCD? Version 1.094 with Nextion LCD has not yet implemented this.? Implemented in version 1.095.?
Version 1.095 is now ready for release.
(Supported from Version 1.03 on Character LCD) I recently posted a video on youtube.? It is an introduction image of some functions of Version 1.095, but Shifted CW Frequency can be checked. Please wathc the link below.?From 1:30, you will see what you want. Ian KD8CEC 2018-07-03 5:10 GMT+09:00 Michael Babineau <mbabineau.ve3wmb@...>: Ian :? |

Andy I will check if you send me your uBITX backup file. You can back up your uBITX settings to a file in uBITX Manager. Send it to me Simply put, the order is as follows. Connect -> Read from uBITX -> Decode -> Selected Options for CWL, CWU Shift -> Encode -> Write to uBITX -> Reset uBITX I used this feature a few months ago, and I'll check it again. Ian KD8CEC 2018-07-03 13:21 GMT+09:00 Andy V. Borisenko via Groups.Io <rw9rn@...>: I also do not have a difference.?I did all the changes in uBitx manager.? |

Maybe it is related to the side tone.? Check the side tone of ICOM Transceiver and the side tone of uBITX.? Set '
Shift Display Frequency on CWL, CWU Mode
' in uBITX Manager software. Probably the error will be reduced. Thanks Ian KD8CEC 2018-07-02 17:09 GMT+09:00 <jj1epe@...>: Hi! |

Thanks guys, Don and I appreciate it.?Glad to see so much "building enthusiasm".?As of today we're up to 676 AGC kits and/or Click kits ordered?and?shipped.
I'm just about ready to make a pass on an OLED display, Nano microcontroller, and 2x AD8307s mWattmeter/SWR device.??So far, it's all mounted on a 50mm x 50mm board
