I'm really stuck! No Xmit Pwr.
#ubitx
HEEELLLPPP
I assembled a Ver.3 board and everything went very well but when I measured the power out it was dead. I don't have the best power meter. I was using MFJ tuner/watt meter, set to 35 watt scale, and I was getting about a half a needle width reading. I finally found " A Diagnostic Guide for uBitx" Thank you for that document Ufi Auttorri. I measured all of the TX measurements listed in the document and every one was very close. I went back through and checked again everything seemed normal I set the bias, I had beefed up the heat sinks for the 510's a little and have a fan on them, heat sink is isolated from ground and still no transmit power. The heat sink will after a while get a little warm. I borrowed a friends QRP guys Voltmeter/ watt meter interface and measure 10 microwatts not milliwatts. It seems like something is not coupling the RF through. So I'm kinda stumped as to what to test next.? Please Help someone, I love this radio. 73 N5FJK Chip |

I'm having display issues when I transmit, but only in CW. My parallel 4x20 display begins displaying odd characters and symbols. It also can cause my display to blank when I try to access the menu function. I currently have the display extended while I wait for my level shifter board to arrive so I can change to I2C. I am using the latest CEC firmware version.

Re: Microscope - - new thread
I've wanted one of those AmScopes for a while now, but the price is out of my reach at the moment. Maybe in six months. My next two slated purchases for my bench are a stereo microscope and a 3d printer. I want to be able to make small parts and enclosures, and need something to give me good vision of what I'm working on.
I have one of those USB microscope things. It works so-so. The picture is wonderful, but what isn't wonderful is having to screw my neck into a cruller just to look at the screen while working on a board. Since I have a bad neck due to an accident in 2006, I can't do that for very long. The microscope with its own screen still requires bilocation to some degree -- working on the board while looking at a screen -- but at least the screen is in line with the work, and doesn't require that I bend my neck into a pretzel to use it. But a 3d printer is the next big slated purchase, I think. I did back a resin printer on Kickstarter, but it's one of those "will it EVER ship?" projects. I've lost confidence it'll ever actually ship, and that if it does, that it'll ever actually WORK. |

William, I'm just north of Orlando in Deland.? I agree the QRM has been awful on 40 meters of late.? I've been pretty successful with FT8 on the uBitx, but even that has been difficult over the last few days.? I'll try to be on the frequency on time this next Sunday and perhaps we can at least hear each other.

I have uploaded all of my Eagle layout files to the file section. You will need to download Eagle editor to see them. The good news is the basic version of the software is free:?/g/BITX20/files/KM4TLR

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMikeIf you go the the Nextion link below, you can download the 3d files for all of the Nextion screens Art On Jun 19, 2018, at 6:00 AM, Mike Woods <mhwoods@...> wrote:

Re: Nextion Displays >> warning
Well. My plan is to have the display as a remote head. In its own 3d printed box. Probably with an encoder, vol and maybe rf gain. The 7 inch size will make it easy to use as a Touch control. Lots of room for big fingers and good for aging eyes.. Lol Also additional buttons and sliders for brightness control, sub menus etc ?Most small displays are a bit awkward for touch, because of button size / real estate size and it was only $12?more than a 5 inch. Should arrive this week... Let the fun begin.... Joe VE1BWV On Jun 19, 2018 4:43 AM, "Mike Woods" <mhwoods@...> wrote:

I installed one of the thump fixes which uses a 2n7000 and a resistor. Joe Ve1bwv On Tue, Jun 19, 2018, 8:41 AM iz oos <and2oosiz2@...> wrote:

Re: Microscope - - new thread
The camera microscope is very clever. Getting a monitor screen in the right place to avoid twisting your head and neck after hours of soldering may be a challange. Stereoscopic vision is very useful, though, and I made myself a present last year of one of these:? The 10X power and 9" working clearance brings me to the limit of how steady my hands are. This has enabled my to mount Si5351 with little trouble. It's expensive, but makes working on this tiny stuff fun again.73, Paul |

Excellent solution, does it also remove the thump? Il 19/giu/2018 02:44, "Joe" <joeman2116@...> ha scritto:

You will be interested to see that I now have my 3.5" Nextion Standard screen working.?? Just needs to be installed properly in the front panel. The hard work in upscaling graphics and repositioning and resizing the buttons, S-meter etc was completed by KN4UD. The graphics are a bit fuzzy from being upscaled.? They need redoing for higher resolution screens, but time is always against me ... At least it will keep me out of mischief.?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI am also working on a similar model of Modular approach. ? But I am working on a concept of Plug-in modules. I have already created some of the modules which when ready will be plugged in a Base board (Motherboard) and interlinked without cables. ? Re: Low RX Audio

Check the obvious first. From the antenna input to the audio. So check first the stage from the antenna connector to the lowpass filter. Il 19/giu/2018 05:32, "El Calvo" <3voltios@...> ha scritto:

Re: Nextion Displays >> warning
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSomebody has already resized the
graphics for the 3.2 inch version (by upsaling the 320x240
images.?? But so far, no other versions are available.? I imagine
a number of other sizes will become available in time.?
One of the issues is that the graphics need to be redone for larger screens because they are all low resolution at present.? Ideally you would make graphics for the 7" screen first and then resize to make them smaller to fit on any size screen (buttons would vary slightly in dimensions because the horizontal to vertical ration changes slightly according to screen size, but not so that the buttons will look terribly out of place. This doesn't actually require one to have all the different screens available. The Nextion has a simulator built in.? However, it does take a bit of time to produce TFT files for a range of screen sizes.
