Debug question regarding FT8 and KD8CEC cat control #ubitx

Basic question regarding KD8CEC cat:

Does this USB connection carry the RX and TX signals needed to eliminate external TX and RX circuitry to mic and speaker connections??

I've been working through Ian's basic instructions on his website.? I'm able to control my ubitx fine from the wsjt-x via the KD8CEC cat.? Receive on the radio draws about 160 ma while PTT draws about 600 ma.? But I get no decode on the waterfall with the ubitx volume turned all the way down.? If I turn the volume up, then the mic of my laptop pics up valid FT8 QSOs.?

If I can confirm that I don't need any external circuitry, then I'll debug the wsjt-x and find the correct settings to make the cat-only connection work without external audio.? If instead, my understanding is wrong and I need external ciruitry even if I have cat via USB, then I'll follow up and build what ever I need.?

Thanks in advance for input!

I've bought from Leeds before, good guy to deal with. And Larry, it's "Junque Box", Junque is good junk!

You can use the same jack, but the wiring to the paddle has to have two resistors - a 2.2K for the dots and a 10K for the dashes (or somewhere in that neighborhood).? Whether you use a key or paddle is software selectable.

2.2K = dot (tip) (gnd is CW) L
10K = dash (ring)??? ??? ??? ???? R
GND = sleeve??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? S/G

I wired my uBITX key jack per the instructions on the HF Signals page and it works great with a straight key.? I also want to be able to use a paddle and the internal keyer.? I am using the latest KD8CEC software - is it just a matter of the software recognizing the paddle when it is plugged in or do I need to add a separate jack for the paddle?? I tried searching for the answer but just got more confused lol.

Try searching Google images for audio AGC.

I am the very proud owner of the bitx40 v3. Notching many contacts from UK and Europe.
It's fairly STD with no mods to the firmware ,I would love to have a go and use it on 160m? Topband ,is this possible if so what alterations would I have to undertake to make this happen,,,

That is almost funny itself. ?I knew April 1 was coming and caught on early. ?Bill always has something that gets us all thinking. ?This year it was the only April Fool joke I even heard about.

It's as entertaining as Bill N2CQR's "eutecticaroma" ... :) I suggested he go out for a game of goff.

Jerry, pretty sure that if you DO try to solder a skunk, it'll smoke.

Not much said recently about solder or smoke.
I'm hoping the "or" will keep me from getting sued by Bill.
