Re: #uBITX - I have CW but no SSB output.
#ubitx
I have (had) the same issue. Only my problem got worse. Last night I was ready to do some exploring. Took my PicoScope first time out of the box other than just looking at it when I received it, Cleared some space, the night before my speaker went kind of mute, turned out the ground connection came loose. Fixed that. Powered up, plugged my headset in and was unfortunate greeted by some smoke, was white but don't think they need a new pope right now.
In my case U1 went up in smoke, still don't get what could have caused it. Even if i shorted the 3.5mm socket there is a capacitor in series so that should have prevented serious things. As it was not clearly visible what went up in smoke I took my phone to look closer in the area where the smoke came from. As a unpleasant surprise it also showed that U1 was not soldered rock solid. So maybe the complete board need a full inspection to check the soldering. Can imagine that a bad soldering in the audio circuit is also a cause for no SSB. Read in another post you should have about 150mV signal on the collector of Q6. That is what I was going to check last night.? At this moment this project and further investigation has to wait until the TDA2822M arrives from China 3-6 weeks. Major distributors don't have the DIP version anymore in the US, am too unfamiliar to see what could be a suitable replacement.. ?Meanwhile will start building a case.. 73, John KG5WJQ |

uBITX shipping schedule
I (perhaps foolishly) signed up for a uBITX presentation at my club on March 13th. I ordered (DHL) a uBITX on Feb 6th. Based on the shipping info I'm seeing here it seems unlikely I'll have the radio soon enough to have it available to show. I have a back up plan for another presentation so no big deal- I can do the uBITX another time. Consensus is no way will it be there (US.Chicago area) by then?
