Sorry......

That's not the Tayda I have ordered from?

I have never had Tayda take over? a week?? And yes they also sell on eBay with Free Shipping.

But the eBay prices from Tayda are more than ordering direct.

So have you had Long delivery time?

I have no investment in them!

What a deal they have!

Re: wiring harness bitx40

How many do you need?? 8 wire?? I have a bunch for the uBITX that I'm not going to use.? I have a goodly handful of 8 wire female plugs with wires already attached, color coded ALMOST like the uBITX.? From left to right, Violet, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow, White, Red and Black.? I bought them as pairs, wired female and PC mount male (I need most of those but could spare one or two if you need them too).

Look me up on QRZ and email me -? I won't hurt your pocketbook too bad.

Re: wiring harness bitx40

For uBitx and Bitx40 connectors, google for "KF2510"
Originally by Molex, I believe.
You will likely be adding the wires, I haven't seen complete harnesses, but then I haven't looked very hard.

Re: Debouncing rotary encoder

Hi Walter, Michael Hagen gave you an answer but you asked for a schematic so here is a quick, down & dirty representation of what N5IB was talking about - it shouldn't be too difficult to add to any Raduino card that uses an encoder whether the uBITX or not. ?The schematic is shown as if it were connected to a uBITX Raduino's "Digital" plug, P2

Is this for the MBITX?

Could someone draw this up?? I'm not sure I understand what is being described.? A little schematic would clear it right up.

Re: Debouncing rotary encoder

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Well, the Encoder is usually handled differently on UBit vs BitX.

When changing from a pot to an Encoder on BitX,? I went for the interrupt routine method.

I added 10K pullups and 0.01uF debounce caps.? The inputs are put on interrupt pins.

Ash handles the Encoder different in uBit.

There is a routine that reads them as inputs?? I think?

Re: Ownership

Hi Mike (VA3MW)

Times definitely have changed, and yes, today anyone in Canada can buy, import, sell, own,? -a radio transmitter without any restrictions (using it without an applicable licence is another matter). But this wasn't always the case, I remember it being on the regulations exam when I wrote. I can't recall exactly when that regulation was changed, but it was sometime in the 80's. Ask an "old timer" and they'll likely remember.

Re: Debouncing rotary encoder

As N5IB said, the ALPS information is good to know. I've been involved with the "RadI2Cino" pretty much from the beginning and the 10K in series with .01uf to ground (.1 on the ones I've built myself) helped a bit.

I've built an open frame "Test Bed" where I can plug any Raduino card in and run it through it's paces so I added another pair of 10K, 1/8 watt resistors from VCC to the two encoder inputs on the board. (I did these on external plug connections I have on the test bed).

WOW! This settled the really cheap and modified (to take the detents out) encoder on the test set right down. Tuning is extremely smooth and I don't notice ANY digits showing up and then backing up again as it did before.

I can highly recommend adding a 10K external pullup to both the encoder A and B inputs as well as an additional 10K in series with .1uF capacitor to ground on both the A and B inputs to the Raduino card.

It was a nice surprise addition and I won't leave them out again.

ALPS, a maker of rotary encoders, recommends 10K pullup to Vcc, then 10K in series with 0.01 uF to ground.
The internal pullup in the ATMega is loosely specified - somewhere in the tens of K, max 50K

On our "RadI2Cino" we provided pads for the RC series pair to ground, but not for any additional external pullup.

Thank you for your great work on consolidating knowledge from various sources into one place.

Hope to be helpful.

Re: ubitx keyer

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Upgrade the software ... there are two variants discussed on this list.? Ian Lee KD8CEC software should fix your problems and requires no hardware mods. If not, this will be because the resistor values used on the CW analogue port are not quite true.? Ian tells you how to adjust the ADC conversion range to fix the problem, by reading off the ADC value actually measured by the arduino.

Alternatively, you could make a small hardware mod and use the W0EB/W2CTX firmware release v2.01.? All is explained in Jim's excellent software/hardware guide available on this list's files area.??

Either way, the problem is a minor one and easily fixed with a bit of searching through the email list.

An article explaining software upgrades available is in preparation on and I hope to have this completed this weekend.

Operating CW is difficult. Have operated CW for decades but now I don't want to try it with uBitx because I get keying errors.
Or the rig makes them, not me.

What do you suggest? There must be a s/w bug which makes the errors, strange delays, too short or missing dots.

Hi everybody

You may be interested in how uBITx.net is going.

To date in February 2018, there have been 170,000 page hits, with 14220
visits by 8214 unique visitors.? Together, all those 8000+ uBITx fans
have shifted 14Gb of data! This shows just how big the interest is in
the uBITx.? I host around 25 sites, and this is now our second most
popular site.

I am still catching up with reading new emails on the list posted during
the last few days.? I have been otherwise occupied with a visit by
Eugeny UA3AHM and time out at the saltmine.

Since the site launch less than a month ago,? a total of 68 news stories
have been posted.? There will be a few more posted today. These stories
are running about 3 per day, drawn primarily from the approx. 100 email
postings a day on the BITX20 email list (i.e. 3% of all emails to the
list are "news worthy").? This is a pretty interesting statistic in itself.

I am still gob-smacked by the extent of hacking already going on with
the uBITx ...? eclipsing a year's worth of hacking on the BITX40. There
are already three software variants available - each with unique
features.?? Clearly, Ashhar Farhan has a tiger by the tail, as he has
two months of back orders of the uBITx to clear before shipping ex stock.

Hopefully, ubitx.net is filling a helpful niche in the ecosystem for the
uBITx.? It's purpose is to document and categorise that which is of
enduring value from the BITX20 list about the uBITx. I have not had the
time I would like to distill out the "nuggets" into guidance like I had
hoped.?? However, I guess that will come with time ... It would also be
nice to find the time to work on hacking my own uBITx! ? But I do hope
to get into the workshop this weekend and work on an interesting mod of
one of my BITX40s.

Don't forget that you can volunteer to help out with uBITx.net. It would
be great to have one or two others assisting with the daily collation of
news items.? This takes an hour or two a day at most...? I can prepare a
simple guide? to assist volunteers in managing this.? No coding skills
are needed ... just good editing skills, and the ability to track down
an appropriate graphic to go with each item.

bitxmap.com update

Seeing Mike Woods' update for ubitx.net got me wondering what the usage on is looking like.
We have 306 operator entered map points and 13,437 total views.? All continents are represented with the exception of the ever elusive Antarctica.? I read somewhere that in January the Germans set up a permanent (as far as Antarctica goes) WSPR station down there.? I might have to send them a BITX just to get the map point :)
