Extron case

A couple of weeks ago someone mentioned using Extron equipment for cases. I found one that was big enough for a Bitx and would be a good fit. The B40 will fit quite comfortably in it (after moving the power supply), but I think the only way the uB will fit is if the raduino is detached. Not sure on that one, my uB isn't here yet. I have a few of the blue I2C 16x2 displays around here and can say without a doubt that they'll fit the front panel. I also have some SPI 2.8" touch screens, but there's no chance they'll fit!
As you can see in the attached pics, it has plenty of BNCs for other projects and a power supply. Dunno the current of the supply yet, but being 12 and 5v, the 7805 on the raduino can be eliminated (provided, of course, the supply puts out over an amp). I was originally looking at the same model case for $9.00 and $9.85 shipping but somehow managed to miss the end of the auction. This one was a buy it now for $14 shipped, better deal yet! W0EB/W2CTX new I2C software V2.01R Release#ubitx
Incremental upgrade to our software for I2C display equipped Raduino cards and also our newly announced "RadI2Cino" card which is an (almost) drop-in replacement for the Raduino.? This release covers all the enhancements for the NON I2C Raduino released earlier in our non-I2C version 2.00R.? All the enhancements and new stuff is covered in the instruction PDF file --

Here's the final version with ventilation.? ?To remove and reverse the bottom panel I drilled out the punches with a 7/32 bit, and then enlarged the outer holes with a 1/4 bit, so 1/4" screws hold the case together.? ?Inside I isolated and slightly raised the heat sinks, and because of the distance to the back I replaced the antenna lead with a bit of RG174.? I'm guessing that wasn't really necessary, but why not.
I'm also digging the fact that as a steel case I can use printable magnet sheets as decals.? ?One of my last projects was writing a program to create rectangular azimuthal maps, which convey the same information as regular great circle maps but with more detail in a more compact and practical shape---handy at QSL card sizes (email me if you want one for your QTH, I can send you a pdf.)? I printed one for Binghamton on a magnet sheet, and it makes a tidy addition to the case. And here it is working FT8 on the roof of the Engineering building: Xcott K2CAJ |

New, incremental release W0EB/W2CTX non-I2C software V2.01R

The CW Keyer module has been completely re-written in this version.? The keyer is now totally interrupt driven which helps make the transition to CW transmit much faster and it doesn't tend to clip the first dot as it did occasionally in past versions.? This version also moved the DASH paddle input from the analog A7 input.? It now shares the analog A3 input with the PTT line as normally PTT isn't used in CW mode and the Hand Key isn't used in CW Paddle mode or the Paddles aren't used in CW Hand Key mode so all three can share the same input easily.? This gives A7 back to those wishing to use it for metering applications.? Complete, illustrated documentation on everything in this release is contained in the zip file as a PDF.? Menu operation has been slightly improved from V2.00R as well.

I can buy the B40 w/Raduino for $59.? I'd consider $40-50 shipped a fair price, but interest is a lot less with advent of the ?B. The frequency counter and other displays are redundant with the Raduino, so those would probably have to sell separately, probably for about ? of what they were new. The pot and buck converter can be had by a bargain hunter for next to nothing from China, so probably not worth trying to get rid of them. The cookie tin choice is a little personal, so you'd have to find someone who really took a fancy to it. Consider adding pix to this thread and entertaining offers by email. |
