BITX QSO Afternoon/Night, Sunday, February 11, 3PM/7PM Local Time, 7277 kHz in North America, 7177 kHz elsewhere

John P

BITX QSO Afternoon/Evening, Sunday, February 11, 3PM & 7PM Local Time, 7277 kHz in North America, 7177 kHz elsewhere.

Join us as we make contacts from BITX40 to BITX40 on 7.277 MHz in 40 meters!

This is a worldwide event for BITX40 stations starting at 7pm in each time zone. To participate, call CQ BITX on Sunday, starting at?3PM and/or 7PM?your local time. The BITX QSO Night continues through the evening and conditions usually improve after sunset, so it is worthwhile to participate later in the evening.

Suggested Best Operating Practices:

Work at QRP power levels unless conditions require more power.
Call and listen for CQ BITX on the hour and every quarter hour.
It is helpful if you call CQ BITX with your callsign, name and location.?
Repeat your callsign a number of times during your CQ BITX and during QSO's.
Start a QSO by confirming the callsign, location, name and signal report of the other operator.
Say the callsign, name and location of the other operator so others can hear.
If the frequency is busy, avoid long conversations.
After your initial QSO is complete, ask if there are any other stations who would like to contact.

Report your QSO's, discuss propagation, noise, signal reports, audio reports, antenna type, etc. in this thread.

This is an undirected, scheduled event.? The BITX QSO Night relies on you to call CQ BITX to initiate contacts with other stations, so warm up that final and transmit a few calls on Sunday evening.? Talk to you then!

Re: I am new at this

Dave,

Just like Sharma said.. wire up the board on the table and make sure everything works and if you want features or fix
bugs then upgrade the firmware and make mods to the hardware.

It is easier to solve problems if any on a stock and unmounted board.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Michael:

With the Yamaha CM-500, are you using the battery power supply provided with it or direct to the radio?

Thx

P.S. To use a headset with the uBITX or BITX40 you will want to look into implementing one of the anti-TX/RX Thump mods, otherwise it is murder on the ears !?

hf signals is keeping the same price because they are able to manage within that price for now. if component prices go up, they might revise the prices.

Re: AGC kits

I would love to show you the real board but I sold them all

As posted in the original sale thread here is the site where all this came from:

10k is on the IN 100k to GND right after the .1uf cap next to the 2n3904.

Has anyone tried using the Teknmotion yapster headsets on Ubitx? I am waiting on my Ubitx ( ordered Jan 5th) and I have a yapster headset which I think will work with it. ?There are lots of the headsets on eBay at reasonable prices.

W0EB/W2CTX new I2C software V2.00R Release#ubitx

This has been posted to the "Files" section but it is sometimes difficult to find there so just to make sure I'm re-uploading it here as an attachment.? This is a very comprehensive update - The I2C bus on the Raduino card is used to drive a small controller card that attaches to the LCD display and now those of you who were wanting the A3, A6 and A7 analog inputs back to use for "Meter" programming can have them.? Since using the I2C bus to control the display frees up the D8, D9, D10, D11, D12 and D13 digital I/O pins on the Arduino Nano, we have reprogrammed the CW Paddles, Hand Key, and even the SSB Push to Talk lines to digital I/O's.? We fount that, since you don't use PTT in CW and you normally don't use the Keys in SSB that one digital I/O input could serve as Hand Key/External Keyer AND SSB Push to talk depending on the mode selected in the menu.? We put the Keyer DOT on D8, Keyer DASH on D11 and the PTT/Hand Key/External Keyer input on D12.? We didn't use D13 because it's used to drive one of the LED's on the Arduino Nano and requires some extra trickery to use as an input.? We also added an extra push button switch tied to the D10 input.? This button toggles the A/B VFO's and if you press and hold it for a short period, it enters SPLIT mode.? All of this and the hardware modification instructions are contained in the PDF documentation included in the zip file.? Lots of photographs are included in the manual to assist the user with the modifications and operation of the software after the mods are finished and the software installed.? You must perform the modifications first as the software cannot be used with the standard, Raduino mounted display as those digital I/O lines are used for CW/PTT operation after they are freed up by the I2C mods.

It has come to my attention after the fact that the AGC kits I sold a few weeks back do not match the schem with the parts placement. Taking the 100k from the input and adding just after the .1uf cap after the 2n3904, use the 10k on the input.

?If anyone has any questions or needs parts please e-mail me directly, I will ship any parts missing or needed free of charge to help make up for the mistake.

?Again sorry about the mix up this was my 1st run of any type of kit and have learned a few lessons to say the least.

Re: W0EB/W2CTX Latest uBITX software release #ubitx

We have resolved the problem.? It WAS NOT a bug in our program, it was a misunderstanding of the way our new menu system works.? The PDF file containing the instructions goes into detail on the new system complete with photo's to illustrate the operation.

Again, there is NO BUG in the software.
