¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi nick pullen:
"Hi Gordon, yes Q70 shuts off on TX,
Soooooooo....if Q70 ceases to get collector +12V in TX that means that K1 is working in general.
K1 drives K3 through pins 12V-->pin5 K1--->pin 1 K1 ---------->? coil of k3
So now the next question is...do you see ANY SIGNFICANT output power on the antenna coax when you transmit?? ?If you do, then that means in transmit K3 is actuated.? ?
You've already told us that you heard broadcast stastions in receive and that after you added the filter you got rid of them, suggesting that K3 is "de-actuated" in RECEIVE.? ?Are you still hearing normal stations in RECEIVE?? ?If you have both transmitter
output during transmit, AND? you're hearing stations during receive, then K3 is working and you can turn attention elsewhere.? ?If NOT then we zero further in.? ?
Gordon.

Hi Gordon, yes Q70 shuts off on TX,
Carl, I will check, that would explain why I see 13v across the coil but no actually engagement. I'll check the GNDREF of the relay. Does anyone have a link to the pin out of these relays? I couldn't find anything on Google... 73 OMs |
uBITX tuning issue
Hello all,
I just fired up the radio for the 1st time and the tuning does not work. If I tune up or down, it will change .050 then go back to .000 as I turn the knob further. Also, when I press the encoder knob in, it says "Band Select", but nothing happens when I turn the knob. When pressed again, it says " Press to Confirm" and when pressed it goes back to frequency readout. I can hear static when with antenna connected and it will go into transmit. It seems all else is working. I wired the encoder per the picture on step 3.1, and NOT using the schematic, as I believe it is not correct (doesn't match the picture). Does the yellow wire need to connect to chassis ground? Is that my problem? Any help greatly appreciated! Jeff? |
Teensy DSP filter
Recently I noticed a thread on the group regarding a DSP filter designed by Gareth Gi1MIC.? Although he primarily designed it to be fitted inside an FT-817 he does say that it would operate perfectly as a stand alone unit in a powered speaker.? I was very keen on this and (rather rashly it seems) bought a Teensy to build one. The circuit is ridiculously simple and I did not think that I would have any problems with it.? HOWEVER, although he mentions an encoder control for setting the filter centre frequency and some means of switching between filters, he gives no details of how this should be done.? I have contacted Gareth to ask for help but he seems uninterested and merely suggested that I learn programming as it was all in the code.? At my advanced age learning to programme is a daunting task (although I am trying). |

Here's what I get if I draw out the relay pinouts (attached)

Re: uBITX woes, feeling disheartened.

For the relays, think of them as a 16 pin DIP package, but with some pins not used.
The pin numbers on the uBITX schematic can be used to draw up the pinout on a 16 pin array. Pins 2,4,67 on one side, and 10,11, 13, 15 on the other side will be missing (empty gaps) N5IB |
Re: W0EB's Keying Adapter
The principal problem is that A6 and A7 can not be used as digital pins.
Now, since the level detecting keyer scheme sorta works on A6, why not use A7 to do the same sort of thing, but to implement the PTT function - a much simpler task. That would release A3, which **can** be used as a digital pin. With enough cleverness, A7 could serve double duty and detect PTT **and** the encoder switch, freeing A2 as well to be digital Now there would be two free digi pins to make a more reliable keyer, **plus** A6 becomes free for some analog duty, like voltage monitoring or S-meter, etc. All this pure speculation, as my uBITX is but a gleam in someone's eye right now :^)) N5IB |

Re: W0EB's Keying Adapter
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFirst off, I'm not a programmer so that fix will have to be done by someone else. ?My keying adapter was and still is an attempt at a temporary fix to allow the rig to actually operate CW in a reasonable manner until someone with more programming savvy than me could fix the program in a more elegant manner. ?Using the FET switching circuit on the paddle inputs did not improve the operation of the keyer enough to make it work right. ?However, using one stage of the FET circuit on the key input DID make it usable for hand keys and even bugs with less than perfect contacts. ?An external keyer should work without my adapter as long as the ON resistance of the keyer's output stage is in the milli-Ohm range which will make the uBITX's keying circuit happy. There were enough people having trouble initially and were unhappy with even hand key CW operation (including myself) that ?I started looking for some sort of a fix. ? As I stated earlier, my simple FET adapter will allow reasonable CW operation until Ashhar Farhan or some other good programmer comes up with a program fix that works. Re: W0EB's Keying Adapter
If you abandon paddles, wouldn't it be easier to change Farhan's code to only detect 2 levels or configure A6 to be a digital I/O?
As a bonus you could add CW Key mode and use A6 as a digital input and add Cw Paddle mode to use A6 & A7? for the digital inputs for the paddle. |

I compared the v1.20 code against the latest version - the only difference is that since v1.20 we implemented the SPOT button and the capacitive touch sensors. Normally scanning will be stopped when the SPOT button is pressed or when the CW key goes down (either the normal mechanical key or the capacitive touch sensor). Perhaps your issue has something to do with this? Do you have the touch sensor mod installed and does it work correctly? Is the SPOT/Fine tune button working as it should? 73 Allard PE1NWL On Sat, January 6, 2018 04:10, Joshua Bagwell wrote:

The instructions are correct. Don't fit the Raduino just check the current. If you fit the Raduino and you have not fitted the 4.7K resistor on the keyer then the ubix may go into transmit all with no 50 ohm load! 73 Mike G0CVZ |
Re: No amps on power up

Well, I feel kind of dumb now. No, I didn't have the Raduino or anything else installed. In fairness to me, the instructions were pretty explicit about checking the power draw?before attaching anything but the power connector. I interpreted that to be like a checkpoint, as in "let's verify that your board didn't break in shipping before we go through all the work of completely assembling it".
My enclosure should arrive today, so I suppose I'll try again once it's all together. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?Hmmm....did you ever measure any OUTPUT from the relay to confirm that Q70 or some other stage was getting power when it shouldn't be?? ??

Make sure that diode D8 is installed with the correct orientation, and use your ohn-meter to make sure that pin 9 of the relay is really connected to GNDREF.?
If D8 was installed backwards, your coil may not get enough current through it to switch.? 73,? Carl? K0MWC |

Hi, I get full 13v at the coil during TX... I put the DVM across the terminals of K3 and am not seeing any change in TX... It like the relay isn't kicking in, this is with a new relay too...
Time for bed, sleep on the issue... 73 |
