Re: uBITX Case

Hello all,?

I'm new to the group. I was sent here from a where they were talking about a case. I work as engineer/drafter at sheet metal fabrication company. We design, manufacture and powdercoat all sorts electronic enclosures for customers.

If I made the cut-off, I will hopefully be receiving a ubitx soon and I will be designing a case to fit the ubitx. There is a possibility of mass producing cases. It could something along the lines of but designed with stand offs for the board and screen, speaker cutout (we would have to agree on a speaker) and powdercoated mini texture black. Once I get a design I could get it properly quoted and let you all know the price. Of course it would have to be on a pre-order basis.

Price will obviously be effected by demand, the more that can be made, the cheaper it can be. Other cost savings would be the removal of press fittings and coatings.

Let me know what you think

And what happens if one accidentally forgets to add that "mandatory
hashtag" as one creates a post via email. Does it then bounce back to the
sender so the sender can either clean up the bounce or re-do his/her
entire message?

Vince.

Great idea!
I like the mandatory hashtag thing, assuming it is obvious how to add them
while creating ??post.
I assume groups.io allows me to screen in and/or screen out particular
hashtags for reading.

that is, every new topic created must be assigned at least one hashtag.
Another setting I choose was that only moderators could create hashtags.

D'oh! I linked to the wrong github repo. Michael is correct, you should be using the amunters/bitx40 repo.

I'm glad it sounds good to you. I, for one, will not be subscribing to
the sub groups and I'd bet I'm not the only one. Then if/when it gets too
splintered and disorganized, I'll just unsubscribe.

Vince.

Sounds to me like a sub-group would be worth trying out? It sounds like it
was built for this exact use case.

A few key points from:
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Subgroups

* Members of subgroups are also members of the main group.??

* Members of main groups are not necessarily members of a subgroup.??

Adding a sub-group results in a new mail alias. For example, if we added
"ubitx" we would have "[email protected]" for the main group and
"[email protected]". Subscribers can then optionally subscribe to the
sub-group. It sounds like a perfect solution to me.

Now, where's a moderator when you need one? :)

An option
Worried one day you will hook up power to your radio backwards and watch the magic smoke?? Stop worrying by adding this low loss reverse polarity protection board between your power line and QRP rig.

The RPP-SMT version was designed using larger surface mount parts.? Afraid of loosing the really small parts?? No worries! We will include 2 resistors, capacitors, and diodes in each kit!

Re: Si570 Output (Sweeperino) - 100 MHs Sine?!

I am confused, do the physical connections to the lcd need to be changed from what Ashhar described, or the listing of the connections in the code , or both, (and if so, exactly how?).

Re: Reverse polarity diode circuit

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Color coding? ?Years ago I bought a 7A SLA battery at a swap. Late at night I hooked the clips from a small QRP rig, red to red, black to black, RIGHT? and PUFF!?

The seller of the battery had used a RED pricing sticker AND put it right next to the NEGATIVE pole of the battery. ?You know the rest of the story. ?A neat QRP rig became a box of parts to help someone else repair theirs. ?I gave it away. ?The Chinese designer (who is still in business) had put no reverse polarity protection in his circuit.

what happened to the idea of using color coded cables and plugs, or just plugs that aren't reversible if you want to go the extra mile?
Adding a full bridge rectifier to everything can really bite you in the ass when you aren't used to being careful of polarity, and then fry something that isn't protected. So using a diode, so that the device just doesn't do anything when you plug it in the wrong way, is the safest option.

Re: Seperate group for uBITX ?

Separate groups and lose the cross-pollination that happens between the BITX variants? I think I'm against it. Now, if this were web forum and I was the moderator, I?would support creating a different section just for the uBITX. But in web forums, people join the *whole* forum and then post in the topic that interests them the most. If a sub-group would do that, then maybe I'd support it. But I'd?really hate for people to have to join two entirely different groups for these closely related devices.

Re: Si570 Output (Sweeperino) - 100 MHs Sine?!

Good job!

I'd guess the program was using that 56.32mhz frequency to (essentially, but perhaps not literally) calculate the exact frequency of the internal reference oscillator (using the contents of the factory programmed internal registers used for calibration) but not doing any kind of error checking on the ridiculous result it got. ?

My LVDS thing was apparently bogus.
I see now that your original post reported a 400mv 100mhz output.
