Seperate group for uBITX ?
Do you think we should have a seperate IO group set up for the uBITX project?
Folk talking BITX20 or BITX40 problems could get lost in the fog of the huge expected traffic that will get created when the uBITX gets shipped out and we all start working on them. Just a thought anyway, don't all leap down at me! 73 Steve G1KQH |

Re: Reverse polarity diode circuit
Polyfuses are not difficult to find. Several manufacturers, even Littlefuse. I get mine from Jameco (P/N 199938) for 55 cents each (quan. 10).
Mouser and Digikey have them in surface mount, too. Not only good for reverse polarity protection (with diode), but for the occasional short circuit, too. 73, Don,ND6T |

DHL handles that themselves. Vince. I really don't care how they do it, only that it seems to get to me --

Re: uBITX vs HW-8
Heh - yeah, there are better candidates than the HW-8, although the HW-8 is a more attractive size: I have a dead (parts) HW-32 (not -A). The HW-32 is a terrible radio - problems with VHF oscillation on TX and such that weren't really solved until the HW-32A model. There were several factory 'mods' to address this, including the last one which had a perforated metal cage to fit over the final tubes to finally provide some shielding. I believe I'll be cleaning it's enclosure up and re-purposing. It's only a little bigger than an HW-8. I'd think most HW-8's (including dead ones) - if it's not been squashed beneath a truck tire - usually sell upwards of $130+ today.?WithOUT the matching HW-7-1 power supply.? I really don't care how they do it, only that it seems to get to me faster; usually less than a week. I really get nervous about ordering from China at this time of the year as economic activity there seems to stop dead in its tracks around the Chinese New Year. I remember waiting 6 weeks last year for an order. Re: uBITX dispolay
There is a tft touch control which works well with the bitx40. This project uses a 2.8 tft display with and atmega2560 and a si5351. If you want to see videos on the display Joe VE1BWV On Mon, Dec 11, 2017, 2:34 AM Ashhar Farhan <farhanbox@...> wrote:

Re: ubitx keyer
Jack Purdum
You're going to love it! Also, it brings into play a bunch of very small, very inexpensive, transceivers that don't have SSB like the ?BITX. I'm hoping to teach a CW class sometime and, instead of using code practice oscillators (CPO), I want the class to each build their own Pixie ($5) the first day of "class" and then use that for the CPO...you can't buy a CPO for that! With a 50 Ω resistor, the class could send code to each other, which would make practice more fun. It's still in the planning stages. I think this is the information you need: ? ? 6" by 5.5",?
? ? 1. the heatsink protrudes out of the backside side (6" long side)
? ? 2. the raduino plugs into the front and protrudes by 0.5", so you will need 6" depth for the box.
? ? you could, if you wanted to, remove the display from being plugged in, run a 7 wire cable?
? ? from the raduino to the LCD board and place the LCD board anywhere else. but, roughtly,? ? ? 6" x 6" is what it needs (for a very very tight fit, i couldn't get the volume control to the left of the raduino in that small a space). And post #35065 says ? ? At least 2-1/2" inches if you are on standoffs. The stand-offs are 1/2 inch, the display is another 1-3/4 inch above the pcb"
You could draw that with a pencil to get an idea of what it looks like.??
Cheers!!
