Re: Dhl customs cost to the usa
Here in Ontario dhl took about 2 days after leaving hgsigs. So total of 4 days. However customs was $28. In addition, PayPal gives an exchange rate lower than the market which increased cost. My total was over 100cdn.?
I think it was worth it because dhl has awesome tracking and super fast shipping. ? Jamie VA3RLF? |

Check the speaker first with your meter on continuity / beeper setting. Your volume control may be the problem. Just short the brown and red wires and see with volume set at max. Mine packed up when I tried to tin the leads! Raj At 06-06-2017, you wrote:

Low mic gain and rf power
Jirka
Hello everybody.
? My name is Jirka, callsign OK1IEC, and I am new in the group. Recently I bought BITX40v3 and built it in the Al box. RX is ok, comparable? with my K2 in normal conditions. The problem is with transmitting ¨C I am not able to reach more than about 1W of output power shouting very loudly into electret mike. Mike change does not help, pot R136 is in the full gain position. I? decided to do some measurements: I? used Audacity software to produce 1 kHz audio and connected it to Mic pins of BITX40 via 47uF capacitor.? I need 280mV p-p AF signal to get 6W RF output power on my dummy load. AF signal levels:?? Mic (C121): 280 mV p-p;? C122: 410 mV p-p RF signal levels: C132: 1.3V p-p;? C134: 3.45V p-p;? C141: 3.25V p-p; C152: 8.6V p-p; C155: 51V p-p; Antenna: 50V p-p. It seems the RF chain is ok but? AF stage Q12 has suspectly low gain. Components seem to be ok, Q12 Uc=10V, Ue=2.26V Any idea or advice appreciated. ? ? Trafo T4 in BFO mixer ??? BTW I see the difference between schematic (D15, D16, R106) and real components on the pc board. |
Re: Europe to States BitX QSO
I don't believe VOACAP :) especially during Sunrise... so we can try next days in my SR, about 03 UTC.

I prefer CW but OK also for LSB. I made many CW QRP QSO's with NA stations before with K2(5W) and 2 el phased verticals. Antenna's are still alive and last days sometimes transmitting WSPR during night to west, about 15miliWatts with bitx + attenuator + Raspberry PI. Received also few reports from USA :) 73, 9a3jh Andy On Tuesday 06 June 2017 03:24 AM, Willy wrote:
VOACAP propagation tools give only about a 10% chance unless high gain antennas are used. It looks like Spain might be the best shot. |

Re: New BITX40 out the box and up and running ?
Sorry guys and gals. Still getting used to using the forum.?
Yes used the dymo for the labels. And a slow painful filing session for the screen hole. I used the angle grinder for the speeker slits I have to find my small files to clean those up. im still having issues with getting the arduino to talk to the computer and load the files from the forum into said computer. Hopefully the nephew will fix that one. a little question for you guys. Does the function facility only work with the updated sketch.? Thank You.? |

It lights up and tunes. I used one I had in my junk box. I believe it's 8 ohms. I will try to post a pic.

We could use some more details. I'm assuming the radio lights up and tunes? What kind of speaker are you using? Can you post a photo of your build? Jonathan On 6/5/2017 8:32 PM, Matt Patterson wrote:

What a boob I am! Of course Canada too. Mexico too while we are at it. So I'll change that to province/state and town. Thanks for replying. Rest of the west coasters, keep 'em coming! We have 10 on the list so far. Jonathan - KK6RPX On 6/5/2017 8:26 PM, College Professor Simon Thompson wrote:

Re: .1uf cap on tune knob question
Should work well enough to bench check it, but I would wait till I got that cap in before transmitting on the air.

The cap reduces noise in the tuning voltage detected by the Raduino, without the cap the frequency will jump around a bit more. Allard's sketch also reduces the jumping about, best to have the cap plus Allard's sketch.
