Thanks all for the replies. Peter in fact contacted me and suggested I look up his youtube video on the subject. I have sucessfully modded the 40 meter one by adding 27pf on place of the 47pf as well I added a 2-18pf variable for fine tuning. It works a treat. The 80 meter one is a different story. I modded it the same way but now have some distorted audio to sort out. Maybe the lead length on the 27 pf needs to be shortened. I will investigate further tomorrow.

I did the mods Gerardo referred to and it worked great. ?Vk3ye suggests 27pf, I had 3 x 10pf laying around so I just stacked them... Close enough. ?Good reports. Receive audio sounds better too.?
Notice in the video the new cap doesn't go where c102 had been... Goes across the left and center holes of the spot marked for a pot beside c102?

My WIN 10 desktop and laptop do not see the CH340 nanos. I may have a bad USB connector on the board because the same USB cable works with my FTDI nanos.

It may be due to WIN7s power saving features. I think by default it may power off the USB after a long period of inactivity.
I recall that there is a way to disable this but I can't recall at the moment how to do it.?
Maybe try this as a starting point. It is for XP but it should be similar to WIN7 :
