Re: To many posts!!
The purpose of the group is to share all information (posts) that are run through the BITX group on . You
can create a filter that moves them somewhere else or you can
unsubscribe and parse the group on but it's not likely that
those of us who signed up for this group specifically because of this
method of message delivery are going to vote to change it. |
Re: VFO & Digital Read out Does Not work

I've seen this quite a few times with Arduino's and LCD.? Usually caused by a voltage spike at switch off or on. This corrupts the Arduino software sketch somehow. They are quite rugged devices and reprogramming usually restores things. The sketch is available somewhere in the files section. If you are not familiar with programming Arduino's don't worry , for this one time operation it is relatively straightforward.? Download the Arduino IDE from the main Arduino site ?? You will need a mini usb to USB lead for the nano.? Start up the IDE by clicking on the downloaded sketch. Set the IDE to Nano in Tools menu. Select the port you have plugged the usb cable into. On the blue(?} menu ribbon is a tick and a right arrow. Click the arrow and the sketch will be uploaded to the nano. When it has programmed it will start up straight away. I would also suggest you check how you are switching the power. Hope this helps.? Rob G4NQX |
Re: Customer Noservice.
John Smith, Check the center pin of the tuning pot with a voltmeter to ground as you turn the knob back and forth, make sure the voltage tracks the knob position closely. ?If it does not, unhook the wire from that A7 pin and try again, now it should definitely track. ?Could be that the Nano has a blown IO cell at A7, and is injecting current into what should be strictly an input pin. ?Though I don't fully understand how this would give the symptom you describe. From the wiring diagram up at hfsigs/WireUp, the center pin of the pot goes to A7 of the Nano. ?The other two pins of the pot go to ground and 5v. ?Since you apparently have the Arduino environment up to burn the firmware, you might try moving that wire from A7 to A6, then adjust the sketch as follows and recompile: Change this line: ? < ?#define ANALOG_TUNING (A7) to this: ? > ?#define ANALOG_TUNING (A6) If that doesn't help, I'd wait a bit to see if anybody can figure out why. ?If it's somehow a damaged Nano, a clone can be had online for as little as $3.? No, not haters. ?Though I was getting annoyed. ?Our expectations are different. ?If you can adjust your attitude to fit the culture around a very low cost kit aimed at experimenters, I'm happy to help. ?Otherwise not. It actually worked. But the tuning with the?potentiometer?is a bit flakey. I suspect a short occurred. It tunes too fast going up and too slow going down. ? |
To many posts!!
Gentlemen, ?Posts, posts, posts, are peppering my email every day. I love the BITx radios but I don't need every post to come alive on my email. Editing my preferences doesn't seem to help so I just unsubscribed to this group. If you can eliminate all posts from my mail I will re-join this group in the near future. Thanks in advance to the webmaster of this group. John? |

They are now showing up, Jason. From memory, the first post by a new member is always moderated, so it wont appear until that has occurred. That said, if you tried to make several posts before the moderation had
occurred, I guess they would also be slow to appear. On 26/01/2017 9:56 PM, Jason N3YUG wrote:

BitX20 Problems
Don
Hello all, Looked through the archives and see many complex (for me) topics covered, so this one should be simple -- for someone else on this list, that is. Built an earlier, through-the-hole BitX 20 kit (QRPKits.Com) for someone. ?Looks great! ?Doesn't work great, however. Problems:? 1.) Received SSB signal audio fairly weak, but nice strong birdie on ~14.300. ?Audio stage appears pretty functional with 'finger test' on components. 2.) PTT switch produces nice strong 9 watt carrier. ?But this isn't supposed to be an AM rig. ?What's up with that, please? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. There are three of us trying to figure this out, all older hams, and not one of us has a clue. Thank you, |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIn terms of RFI shielding, wouldn't a metal case be better, or
are levels so low that it isn't an issue. On 1/25/2017 11:38 PM, Lawrence

Re: VFO & Digital Read out Does Not work
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI just assembled my BITX-40 with DIGITAL READOUT/ VFO and was testing TX & RX... All seemed to be working OK, for an hour. I turned it ON and OFF after about 1hr and the Digital Display instead of reading out Frequency placed "rectangles" where the numbers were located.. It appears that the Raduino VFO is no longer working. |
Enjoying my BITX40
I haven't even soldered the first wire?but trying to understand the radio and the Uno has been a fantastic learning experience. I was surprised that I already knew the answer to which wire to ground to calibrate it. The correct information and color are defined in the sketch. The best fifty-nine educational dollars I have ever spent even if I never put the radio together. (Just awaiting my case and a couple of other items and you can bet it will be built.). My hats off to the developer/manufacturer and all the contributors?to the forum. Thank you! v/r Fred W4JLE |
