Re: Zbitx and fldigi help
Ok thank you. I couldn't find fldigi anywhere on the radio..but if it doesn't work I'll stop looking. On Mon, Apr 21, 2025, 10:57?PM Ryan Wesolowski via <cosmo1stgen=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Zbitx and fldigi help
You can use fldigi with an external monitor. ?There is a pre installed version on the radio but it is very old. ?It doesn¡¯t work very well and hangs the zbitx program. ?This was an issue in sbitx also and later fixed with 64bit. ?You might want to try and compile the later version of fldigi but may still have the same issue.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWouldn't the schematic be of value here? Here's a link to the first (Dec 2024) schematic, I don't have a link to any updated schematic: Ken, N2VIP On Apr 21, 2025, at 20:04, zl1ujg via groups.io <zl1ujg@...> wrote:

Zbitx Musings
Hi,?
Taken the covers off my Zbitx, and just trying to work my way around the PCB.?
In the circuits available which are possibly out of date, it shows LC matching on either side of the 40 MHz crystal filter. Looking at the board it appears to have one L matching inductor T30-6 with 13t (one is a wire link, but the 22pF capacitor appears to be still fitted)
Please could someone confirm whether that is correct.?
Thanks

Martin and Raul,
Can you check if you are seeing any power output on the two tone mode? Set the drive to 100 and connect the zBitx to a dummy load through a power meter.? Please try this on all bands and let us know. ?

In Poland received my zBitx via Germany (via Leipzig). I only needed to fill the information about the shipped goods: *NOTE: To maintain the continuity of correspondence, DO NOT CHANGE THE TITLE OF THE MESSAGE. Use the "reply" option.*
I confirm that the total amount I paid for or received for the goods is................................(amount in figures together with the three letter currency code).
I also undertake to pay any customs duties and taxes. The item is not subject to CITES.
Learn more Please be informed that, as of 1 January 2025, customs services have been updated. You can find details and the fees charged by DHL Express in the . IMPORTANT: If the above documents are not received within 10 days, the shipment will have to be sent back to the sender
After providing the above information, I was only charged with VAT (23% in Poland). The whole process was quite fast: My zBitx was shipped on 2024.04.15 at 6:12 AM. Earlier, on 2024.04.14 at 8:33 PM I got the above request. On 2024.04.16 at 6:30 AM I was informed about the due VAT, and I paid it immediately. Whatever carrier anyone choose, nobody is going to work for free. The administration burden of collecting taxes at point of sale and filing tax returns with EU governments is also not free. Fundamentally all these business exist as a profit-making concept. That means they have to cover the costs of the paperwork AND then some. In some EU countries the government customs collectors themselves add a huge fee. National post offices are in many cases charging even higher admin fees than the "carriers" (DHL Express, FedEx, UPS etc). Of course many national post services are privatized too, so they also exist for profit. Taxes are at the root of the problem to start with. Of course we need taxes, to pay for many things which the government needs to fund, that won't be done any other way otherwise, including social care. In Europe there are typically more benefits than US and these take more taxes to fund. There's also a lot of bureaucracy goes along with it which also takes lots of taxes to fund.? Basically if you don't like it and you think taxes are too high, there's nothing HF Signals can do about it (or me); pretty much the only chance you have to have any influence over it all, is once every 4 (or 5 years) at the ballot box, choose the party that seems to want to lower taxes and reduce bureaucracy... Of course the down side is you may not like a bunch of their other policies but that's the price of "democracy" in the world we live in.? Note, I'm observing, not complaining. I think complaining without having any idea of a proposed better operational model is poor play indeed.? 73 Hans G0UPL |

get it fixed.

Today I had to pay 49 Euro TAX for the zBitx.
This is a shame any far to much in relation to the unit price.
Now I am waiting for the zBitx to be delivered.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBy most accounts, DHL is the best choice for most situations, and provides HF Signals with a single, predictable cost.Rather than just wish for a better option, why not cite a specific superior carrier as an alternative?? Here in the U.S. much of these import fees and tariff issues are avoided due to so-called de minimus thresholds, allowing shipments under $800 U.S. to enter the country freely (no fee or tariff) from anywhere (except, going forward, China, it seems - as discussed here previously, no need to re-hash it). As I understand this particular situation, the local gov't has some fees it wants to collect, and the shipper treats it as a COD transaction, with a fee to cover the collection and reporting of that fee. Until the shipper (HF Signals) has a way to pre-pay the fee and collect the fees from the buyer in advance, this is the best that can be done. HF Signals won't pre-pay the fee, and any shipper will add a fee for the collection/reporting effort. (Can a shipper even pre-pay the fee? I just assume that's an option, I have no idea.) It's hard to find a solution that works best for everyone, but DHL appears to be a good fit for many/most buyers...
