My bad, you're right - sorry for confusion.

The best advice is to reach out to HF Signals directly at sales@... to get the correct answer

The sBitx is apparently offered for purchase right now:

And the zBitx also is apparently still offered for sale right now, but with a 4 week lead time:

I hope this helps,

Re: WSJT-X/Rigctl Configuration Issues - Need Info

I should mention I've updated to the latest firmware 1.06/3.051.

Re: WSJT-X/Rigctl Configuration Issues - Need Info

I get no rigCtl response in WSJT-X from the zBitx. RigCtl reports the connection was actively refused by the radio. WSJT-X works fine on my sBitx. I've also tried my CTR2-Micro on both radios. Same story. The sBitx works fine but the zBitx refuses to connect.

That may somewhat defeat the purpose of break-in

We had the same trouble with the sbitx until we got the software fix going. ?After that, it is really really nice for CW. ?To avoid clicks and thumps I usually set mine to break in neatly between words, but you can’t get an Icom ?to do that without having a ton of clattering. ?

I bet this will eventually get fixed.

Until everything is working perfectly, you can still make CW QSOs with a little goodwill.

This afternoon/evening, I worked with HS100IARU and 8A100IARU using just the zBitx (without any additional PA).
?
When using the straight key, you can hear the initial delay with the first "r." From the second "r" onward, the characters come out flawlessly (as far as I can CW, hi). Delay is set to 700.

Ashar, I tried a longer setting as you suggested, values up from 100 to 300 to 500 to 800 to 1000. It does get better as you increase the delay but is still an issue. So I did a simple test, with the radio idle I simply attempted to key an A, several times. Sometimes it missed the dit, sometimes it missed both the dit and dah and sometimes it registered the character correctly. See video I just posted

Vince,

?

Thank you for the help. My problem is that I did not associate MACRO with the F key. I just glanced over the page.

I just did this last night, so I can tell you that it's well explained on page 15 of the manual "Editing and creating macros"

Note that on some screens you only see the first 7 macros displayed on the small screen.

Re: Tuning in cw waterfall alignment

It depend on display width. If you tune a CW signal spot on with a 2.5 kHz width it sounds great. Change display width to 6 kHz and the signal is still tuned but the blue column of filter width has shifted 200 Hz to the right. !0 kHz shifts the blue column even more.
I posted this as a code issue a few days ago.
BTW - the shift isn't just for CW, it's just easiest to see in that mode. I see the same in other modes.

You can get to the other “F” keys in use by bringing up the key board by tapping into the call box, then the “F” key are available by taping the “Sym” key. ?A multi step process to get to the hidden keys.

Re: Tuning in cw waterfall alignment

Does the distance to the right vary with the sidetone frequency that you have selected?

Re: Does zBitx have SWR display?

Thanks, Tristan!

That was the issue and now my zBitx seems to work as intended. I wonder if some units got SD cards with earlier system installs on them?

Hi Paul,

I ran into the same issue. v3.051 is currently the latest version. In my case, the git branch was set to "farhandev" instead of "main". This also seems to be the difference between the ./update and ./update_zbitx script - the former does not explicitly set a branch, while the latter sets the branch to "farhandev" after running the git pull. In the ~/sbitx folder, I had to manually run "git checkout main", then ran the ./update script. This brought me to v3.051 and now I get proper readings both via HDMI and on the "head unit" (previously, the "head unit" kept displaying the voltage/S-meter and power/SWR remained at 0/1.0 via HDMI despite appropriate power output).

Re: Waiting for the zBitx to start…

First of all, thank you very much for your support!!!

The zBitx is now running!
I did the following:
1. Downloaded the image as Jeff described
2. Bought a new 64 GB microSD card
3. Formatted the SD card to FAT32 using "guiformat"
4. Transferred the image to the new SD card using "Win32DiskImager"
5. Inserted the card into the zBitx and connected the power supply
The zBitx starts up as it should.
I had my first CW QSO on 20m with 3 watts over a distance of 1,600 km.
I had set the delay to 700, otherwise it doesn't work properly with the straight key (yet).
I hope this helps other users who have the same problem.
