Re: zBitX radio hanging randomly.

I did what you suggested, Ashhar, and thanks for pointing that out to me. Unfortunately, it has not fixed the issue of the radio process locking up if I select a decode the way you did in the "Working FT8" video. I touch the frame with the FT8 decodes in it, then turn the encoder to select a decode with the bright white border around it, but when I click the encoder button, it freezes and requires a reboot.

But if I have the HDMI running to my monitor, and click a pointing device on the virtual radio on the screen, THAT works fine. It selects a decode and initiates an attempt to contact. I even got a QSO using that method, but I don't know if it registered in the log; I didn't check.

I put that in an issue (#6) on the git repository.

Re: zBitx DOA

The zBitx has two computers, an RPi zero 2 W and a pico. The pico drives the display. By applying power to the CAT port (which is the pico power/USB port) the display operates (I assume meaning it turns on, not that it controls the unpowered radio).

Probably good we don't live closer, I would have already been there urging you to open it up...

zBitx DOA

Good morning
?
My zBitx arrive DOA.? I sent a message HFSIGNALS but got no response.? It will not power up with the connector in place.? I used my multimeter to test the power on the connector from the fully charged batteries and it is 8.33v, so the power source is good.? The radio will not come on.? I can bring up the screen with the CAT port so that is all.? ?I think I need to exchange it.? How do I get that started.? This is very disappointing

Back to basics - 20 meter SSB - all analog - all the way

Hi all -
?
While everyone has been busy with s and the z I've gone back to basics with a bitx20 inspired, all-analog SSB rig.? ?In a fit of "spontaneous construction" [(C) N2CQR] I put togeter the receiver over a couple of days.? The VFO is a 9MHz rescue puppy from an FT-401 (thaks Pete, N6QW for the $35 eBay find). The Tx PA was already built - leftover from one of my revs of a homebrew sBitx. Audio amp and first mixer came out of a box I call "boards that could be rigs."? ?Had to wait for 5Mhz crystals to arrive from Mosuser so I put most of the rest of the rig together including a crystal controlled BFO (with a junk box crystal).? TIA IF amplifiers using boards from Todd at MostlyDIYRF.? ?This rig has soul!? Crystals arrived - built the ladder filter with help from the Dishal software, subbed out the junk box crystal in the BFO for one of the extra 5MHz crystals and the rig received great first thing.? Something that has never happened to me before, ever.
?
?
This has been so much fun..... the transmitter should be done this weekend - if my luck continues I will brand this the Miracle 20!

Re: zBITX CW Keyer

The term is "iambic", pertaining to a dihDAH dihDAH dihDAH pattern, each of the three sounds in the above called an "iamb". This are "I" as in India, not "L" as in Lima.

Also, "Lambic" is a real thing. A Lambic is a beer or ale to which wild yeasty beasties are introduced to the wort by exposing it to natural wind and breezes. It's the sourdough of beer. It's easy to find combined with fruit juice or extract, apricots, peaches, and cherries are popular. I love cherry Lambic, and the beer drink called a "Dirty Hoe", composed of raspberry or cherry Lambic and Hoegaarden wheat beer.?

Re: Zbitx external microphone recommendations

Right. There is a reason why this pinout is not the normal one.
?
Would love to reroute my radio connector so that i can use my microphones without having to put a adapter cable inbetween.

Re: The Pi zBitx process is locking when I select an FT8 station

Wouldn't miss it for the world, Gordon! I just got a 9v PD trigger cable that works perfectly, and I got an 8-pack of 18650 cells and a 4-place charger. 3300mAh and 4.2 volts. And I find that the hand mike for my KX3 *does* work perfectly in it!

Now, if I could only operate FT8 properly!
