Re: NBFM (Was: AM on sBITX?)

Hi Rafael,
?
Thank you for the links!
?
I have had a setback with my DE, so I cannot try this until I repair the low-power problems.

Re: NBFM (Was: AM on sBITX?)

Hi Evan,

I maintain this fork of it (just compilation fixes):

and packages for arm64 (run on any 64 bit image):

Re: NBFM (Was: AM on sBITX?)

Do it does not require I/Q. It works pretty fine indeed, already tested.

Hello Rafael,
I believe that the csdr libraries require an I/Q (90-degree phase shifted) signal.? The sBitx does not have that available unless code is written to do the Tayloe decoding in software. That could be easier than what I am suggesting.? I do not have the skills to do that from scratch.
I just got my DE working again, so I will try my suggestion after I have upgraded the software to JJ's 64-bit version.? That may be a couple of weeks as I do not get much radio time with the support needs of my wife after knee replacement surgery.

Good info. I just found a 4 inch tft unit same as the one we all receive from hfsignals but only in a 4 inch screen. i ordered one and going to connect it. probably will have to alter some code i imagine .doubt i get lucky that its plug and play. might give it its own regulator for power .depending on the current draw after hooking it up

Has the exact pin designations on this one so it will be easy to hook up. Pins are on same end too. didnt bother reading whether the pins on this one line up with the display on the ubitx.

Please do not switch to Wayland Compositor as it will reconfigure some things on the Pi making it unusable for some. The new 64 bit image I am working on will include WC after further testing.

Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available #sBitx

I switched and saw no issues and/or differences! As it says it is easy to switch back.

Re: NBFM (Was: AM on sBITX?)

The frequency differentiation method would be able to approximate the phase difference by using consecutive I samples. But the demod product would probably be pretty crappy at best.

I think that the transform method should at least be able to simulate a phased Q sample which may be a bit better as a starting point. I messed with this a while ago when I was offloading a synthetic IQ stream to SDRAngel.
it almost worked, but I lost interest in the challenge..?

Re: sBitx CW keyer problems and idea for solution #sBitx #sBITX_v3 #cw #firmware

There was a commit on 8 July called "Merging the CW keying time lag fix". Did you notice any improvement?

Mike

For the CW operators here ... have you had any problems with the sBitx CW
keyer?

The timing seems off for me when keying at higher speeds, and the TX isn't
quite right even using an external keyer. I took a couple of videos showing
what I mean:

Using an external keyer at 25 wpm, the dits are much more staccato than they
should be and sometimes entirely cut off. The TX is bad enough that the RBN
will not pick up my call when using the external keyer:

I have used PIO on the PICO and noticed clock jitter with a clock at 7MHZ. Gets worse as the clock frequency increases.

Or even with the use of a library for demoding nbfm, like csdr.

The above is a thought experiment so that I could be wrong.
