Re: 64-BIT V4 WORLD MAP
开云体育Better use openstreetmap, I think. ?https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/List_of_OSM-based_services ?But avoiding mercator projection might make some sense too. ?(Should we try to have great-circle lines as straight as possible?) ?And I think the simple non-zooming world map is ok for now, if the alternative is too much work; but I agree it would be nice to have more markup: US states, country boundaries, time zones etc. ?(somehow without getting too cluttered)My goal is to eventually separate the front-end from the backend: there should be a radio-control daemon that can stay running in the background, with a particular interface that I have in mind which will make many kinds of front-ends possible. ?Then I want to write a Qt-based UI. ?Then using qtlocation will be possible on the raspberry pi display. ?https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/qtlocation-index.html ?But it might take a while to get the radio backend separated from the GUI and working correctly (I’ve hardly looked at the code so far, let alone actually start trying to refactor). ?I could probably write a separate logbook-mapping app in a short time though. ?(It’s been done many times though, right?) ?In the meantime there is that chrome-based app already installed.

Re: js8call no transmit V3 64bit
Awesome, thank you for the settings and the recommendations.? I tried that setup and receive an error when transmitting.? This is a stock sbitx and the OS is reporting that this is the 32 bit image and after updating sbit it shows a version of 3.021.? My understanding is that an update to version 4.0 requires writing a new image to an sd card followed by an sbit software update.? This would align me with the 64 bit image and version 4.0.? That should be pretty easy.? I tried following these instructions for the 64 bit image but that link no longer works and I'm not finding another image available. ?/g/BITX20/message/109499
?
I'm trying to stand this up for field use in a trip I'm taking later this week.? I've got through Monday to figure it out.? I'm not familiar with this method of cat control.? It looks like the ham library stands up a daemon service api listening on a port.? I wonder if the port might be different somehow and maybe the cause of the failure.? IDK, that error seems to relate to a/b splitting or something.

You will have to perform an upgrade of the software to v4.0 since this image contains 3.1

开云体育... return about my question !!!
Just burned a new BTS v3.1 image , started and then made again the v4.0
update using follow cmds , on after on at
each new line :? cd ~/sbitx? then...? git pull? then...
git checkout a7e9ecd then... git stash? and then...?? ./build

Then I started sBitx and I get v4.0 updated . I think something with my

Re: V4 64bit firmware
An other potential Issue or Resolution when using a Keyer such as the K1EL keyers is the Ultimatic mode (True Squeeze Mode) and the K1EL keyers have a means of adjusting the tail timing (Time After the last character has released) in the old days (Tube Transmitters) there was also advance timing to turn on the transmitter prior to the first character as well as Tail timing after the last character was released. While this is not the "Full Break-In" we espouse to it is normally fast enough to satisfy most operators.? |
Re: V4 64bit firmware
开云体育Thanks very much, Chris! With previous 32 bit code I could send acceptably with an external paddle. But not with an external keyer! ?That’s bad because a lot of people like to use the Winkeyer. ? ?It has the huge advantage that it can insert that logged call sign right into a macro. This makes field day very very easy. I doubt that you wish to try to create a multi user database logging system just to cover up this weakness—-fixing the basic radio is the way to go? For the good of the product, I am hoping that somebody will fix the straight key timing with interrupts or some other way. ? ?That isn’t going to be something I’m likely to work on. (way too busy teaching AP stem courses and running an Aries group). ?An alternative would be to build the coding of some of the winkeyr functions in so that it replaces it. ?But I think that’s not the best way. ?I think for a product that has this kind of potential, we really need to fix the straight key timing.? Re: V4 64bit firmware
Hi all,
?
I worked on the CW improvements for the the latest 64-bit code. The real underlining issue is? how GPIO is polling the key input.? However, I did find a major issue in the Iambic B code that has been addressed in the in this code release. I find most people are not Iambic B users, or only uses it as back-and-forth paddle keying and not squeeze keying. Initially before addressing this bug, I could not send at all with the sBitx and would constantly mess up at the ending of the character sequence.
The polling issue is still there using the internal keyer in the 64-bit dev code. The current polling method requires the CW_DELAY? to be delay to be extended to avoid the initial poll. If the paddles are not held for a split second longer, you can still miss a initial character sequence. I've train my mind to let go of the dot/dash after I start hearing the character being sent. This is annoying at higher speeds, but my mind is slowing compensating for this.? I can spend reliably at 30 wpm.? ?
In this release, nothing was changed in the straight key timing. I've looked at improving the straight key mode, and may have improved it slightly, but still not happy, especially with an external keyer at high speeds. This is not included in this release as it's more for experimenting.? Again, the GPIO polling for the input is the issue.? It would require major rework and setting up interrupts to handle the cw key input.?
I also cleaned up the spacing for the keyboard and macros.? The spacing was way too long.? The new code sounds much better.? IMO, internal keyer now usable, but not perfect.? Another thing to note, the Iambic mode, which I assume should be A, is not correct.? It's still remembering the latest dot or dash, like Iambic B.? I haven't had time to look at that as I can't send using Iambic A.? The Iambic B mode seems to work best for the "non" squeeze CW operators. ?
(Above was copied and edited from another post)
I hope this information is helpful. ?

Re: V4 64bit firmware
I ran the code below and it had me rename a file called result_rows.txt and I simply added the number 1 to the file name and it then proceeded to install perfectly on the next time I ran this command (actually I think I had to run it twice,?but I dont remember the error it threw on the first try). I am currently making my backup of the new OS to go with the others I have saved so far...
