Re: sBitx V3, (PSK,RTTY,Olivia,MFSK) And More, Fldigi, Short How-To

These guys.... Same as HF Signals or different company all together??

Anyone had any experiences???

What have you been using as a case to protect the board?

Re: ubitx audio amp problem discovered

Andy,
?
The uBitx will filter out anything over 3kHz at the SSB crystal filter, so it is not an issue for anything over 3kHz.
?
To get a better response, increase the output capacitor to 100uF. Also, remove C62, as it favors a high-frequency response over low frequencies.

Re: ubitx audio amp problem discovered

I omitted the 47uF cap C64 in my model. Adding it reduced the gain.? I lowered Q6 RE to 270 Ohm.
?
Adding a 47 Ohm series resistor between C63 and the load increased the gain about 17 mV.? If the signal out meets the requirements of the modulator, is there a benefit to making a better match and reworking the gain?
?
Thank you for the info on C61, Raj!

Re: ubitx audio amp problem discovered

Thanks Evan!
?
? ?I noticed that the 0 dB point in the sim was at just below 1 KHz.? When I ran your model at 10 KHz, the energy sent to the modulator is 336 mV, which rises to 342 mV at 20 KHz.? (I assumed when Farhan said the modulator wanted to see about 150 mV that meant peak, and not P-P or RMS. Was that a bad guess?)

? ? I don't yet have my breadboard bits on board so can't yet see what happens in the real world.

Thanks, George. fldigi works but it would be better is I could change frequencies without a 1 to 2 minute wait.

Dave,
?
I don't see a uBitz company name.?
?
Is this the company you are taliking about???
?
?
If so I did order parts from them but the shipping from India to my location doubled the price.

Hi Bruce,
?
I am working on our club Winlink gateway for a next couple of days, but I will try my sBitX setup again after that to see if I get the same problems. I did not try the drop-down list - just scrolled through the frequencies with a mouse.

Hi Andy,
?
Here is my LTSpice simulation of the V6 mic preamp:
?
?
Only the transistor and two resistors should be needed for the modification.? The bias for the new transistor comes from the existing transistor.

Andy,

C4 is to suppress RF from getting into mic line. Commercial rigs also include a series

inductors. Some have 300Hz LC filter at the input.

JJ, I would gladly help with your wiki documentation on a limited basis if I knew how. Is there a wiki on how to use wiki? At this point, I would probably make it worse, but I am willing to learn and try. ?

Re: ubitx audio amp problem discovered

Maybe this will work as well.? Both this buffer and the previous one from Skelton can be DC coupled by placing them between the Collector of Q6 and the positive side of C63.
?
I'll breadboard these when my boards and resistor assortment arrives.

Re: sBitx V3, (PSK,RTTY,Olivia,MFSK) And More, Fldigi, Short How-To

George, on my sBitX V3 64bit (field day release), using the pull-down List to change frequencies (see the image) causes the system to "hang" or stop dead. No audio, the spectrum display is frozen. I can start other apps but the radio is stopped, no tuning, nothing. I timed it between 1.5 and 2.5 minutes and then it recovers and the selected frequency is set? as if nothing happened.
