Re: ubitx audio amp problem discovered
According to LTspice... (Famous last words?)
?
Here's one potential solution.? It adjusts RE on the Q6 amp from 1K + the 47 Ohm swamping resistor, to a 270 Ohm resistor.? C62 is deleted.? A buffer from page 2 of Skelton's "Building a Transceiver" is AC coupled.
?
The 50 mV peak input signal is converted to an output that varies between 83.5 mV at 2KHz to 152.2 mV at 20 KHz.
?
I have no idea what C4 does.? LTspice doesn't seem to care about it one way or the other.
?
I'll continue to experiment with buffers and see if I can figure out simpler options, and options that can be DC coupled.

Re: sBitx V3, (PSK,RTTY,Olivia,MFSK) And More, Fldigi, Short How-To
George, on my sBitX V3 64bit (field day release), using the pull-down List to change frequencies (see the image) causes the system to "hang" or stop dead. No audio, the spectrum display is frozen. I can start other apps but the radio is stopped, no tuning, nothing. I timed it between 1.5 and 2.5 minutes and then it recovers and the selected frequency is set? as if nothing happened.

Re: js8call no transmit V3 64bit
I know, for me, the understanding of how information is stored and retrieved on this forum/chat/email string/data base thing, makes it necessary for me to make notes as I go. This, however I have slacked off doing because of so many chores and projects with the home recently. But, as time permits, I want to try printing and saving lots of this. I think the frustration comes from every new person coming on here beginning at square one with a unit needing several updating mods, and training as to how to operate the radio. A quick start guide to get all new owners up to speed, at least on the JJ 64bit, would be nice to make, but I am still learning also. It will happen eventually. I mostly try to stay in the background,? since my expertise in sdr is quite low. ? Scotty WD4PYT? On Sun, Aug 18, 2024, 2:19 PM Bruce W4BRU via <w4bru=arrl.net@groups.io> wrote:

Re: js8call no transmit V3 64bit
I for one, would love to have the data consolidated as well. I dont run the non-native programs because I don’t understand enough about it to figure it out. That is why i only run the native FT8 mode only. I would live to use FT4 in the field too, but the intel is not readily available in a digestible manner. Thank you for the offer and maybe someone will take you up on it.? David WK4DS On Sun, Aug 18, 2024 at 13:12 Bruce W4BRU via <w4bru=arrl.net@groups.io> wrote:

Re: js8call no transmit V3 64bit
The issue, Gyula, is that the information is scattered across so many messages and various wikis. There were 252 V3 64bit messages the last time I looked. You have to have just the right search terms to find what you are looking for. I spent an hour looking for the JS8Call settings for the sBitX and found nothing.
?
I'm sure it's out there but it's very well hidden. I'm a retired technical writer so I can consolidate some of this but I can't find a person(s) who are the center of this to volunteer. And maybe no one wants consolidation.

Re: js8call no transmit V3 64bit
Of course it is. The solution depends on small things. At first glance, in my writing, the audio path is provided by Loopback_1. You can check it, because without it you won't have any output sound. The rest of the additional things are just as necessary as the route. These have already been discussed many times, summarized as setting up an external application. I find that if the information is not given individually, very few people bother to look it up in the forum discussions. I am tired of repeating what was said here in the answers given to the questioner.
If I see a mistake in the message, I will indicate it to the person asking. --

Thank you, Gyula. That? did not solve it. I tried again calling CQ and switched to the sBitX display and it seems JS8Call did not switch the sBitX into transmit. You got me to thinking so I looked at my setting on my station computer (RasPi4) to my 7300 and saw it was PTT CAT and Mode Data/Pkt. I switched the Pi on the sBitX to that and it transmitted. I was heard and had a QSO. PSK Reporter shows reception in Italy and Germany, 3,000+ miles, 7,700+km so I am now getting out. ?
Now I have the mystery of why most of the buttons are grayed out and that the buttons are so large that they are difficult to use on this small screen. That is likely a discussion for the JS8Call forum.

js8call no transmit V3 64bit
Is anyone successfully running JS8Call on an sBitX with V3 64bit Field Day (2024) update? Obviously I am not.
Symptoms
no transmit - the JS8Call screen turns red indicating transmit but their is no RF output on the external power meter. When I run fldigi I see output so it is a JS8Call or settings issue.
no heartbeat icon - as seen in the image, there is a CQ icon and it works but their is no Heartbeat icon
very crowded screen - as seen in the image, the screen is very crowded. fldigi has as much on it but the keys and images are smaller as befits the screen size. ?

Re: Connecting the Pi with an GPIO extension cable
Hi Steven,?
?
A GPIO extension cable should work ok.? The first version of my digital board (codec, si5351 and mic amp) was connected to the pi using a 40 pin extension.? I was able to receive and send just fine.? I had some issues with codec self oscillation but I think that was related to the coded board You may want to shield the cable with some copper tape.?

Re: uBitx v6 question, possibly FS
开云体育That's planned for later today, I'll bring out my UC-705, easiest to switch between, since they both have BNC ant connections.I flipped thru this site (??) and it looks like I need to update the firmware, since 17 meters is unselectable, I guess I have the very original Dec 2019 firmware. It doesn't look like there has been any updates to the software since then, the GitHub files are all 5 years old... My recommendation is to switch the same antenna between your uBITX and another receiver. There’s little difference in sensitivity between my uBITX and ICOM receivers.

uBitx v6 question, possibly FS
Hello all,
I pulled a uBitx out of the closet that I had just about forgotten I had bought way back in Dec 2019, and I put it on the bench. Hooking it up to power & antenna it seems to be working OK, but the radio doesn't seem very sensitive (though it could just be band conditions right now). Question is, were there any updates since Dec 2019 that I should be aware of? Since the v6 is still the current model on sale at HFSignals I assume there were no significant hardware updates, correct? Since I haven't laid hands on this radio in years, it will likely go up for sale once I sort out its actual condition. Right now it receives OK, I just finished listening to the Buckeye Net on 14.262 and nearby stations sounded great, but that was about all I could hear (one-sided conversation). Later today I'll put it on a watt meter & dummy load to test the transmitter. So, any thing I should do to update this radio before passing judgement on it? Thanks, Ken, N2VIP |
