Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available
#sBitx
Hey Gang..
Because this release was being packaged up as I was still finishing a few things, There is 'minor' update waiting in the repo for the FreeDV_PTT application. One thing that will come along with this update is an upgrade.sh script that will make it easy to stay up to date with releases of this application.? For just this one time we will need to manually pull the updated .deb file and invoke the update. cd? ~\freedv_ptt git pull sudo dpkg -i freedv_ptt.deb ...and that should do it. You'll now see an update.sh file in the freedv_ptt folder. any future upgrades will be done with ./update.sh Easy peasy and thank you. de W2JON |

P.S.
For those of you running DE hardware, I've also included the 3.01 sound file in the download folder and a script to "downgrade" and recompile the sBitx app. To run this, open terminal and type: cd Downloads ./DE_sb_sound.sh |
Re: sBITX 64Bit Pi Image Available
#sBitx
I published a new, preconfigured, Raspberry Pi image for the sBitx this evening.
This is the production version, code name, "Field Day". ? sBitx 64 Bit Production Version 1 - Code Name "Field Day" This is the production release of the sBitx 64 bit Raspberry Pi Image that is preconfigured with popular ham radio software including sBITX Toolbox, FreeDV PTT, and the sBitx app.? What's New Updated to the latest kernel (6.6.31) including all security patches as of 6.9.2024 sBitx version 3.025 Hardware RTC enabled Version 2.06 version of sBITX Toolbox Version 2.45 of FreeDV PTT by W2JON GridTracker version 1.24.0512 WSJTX JTDX JS8Call XDX FLDigi and more.. Additional tweaks and behind the scenes enhancements installed to improve responsiveness I have been working with W2JON and included his application into the build as well. This is a robust version and includes his excellent product. As a reminder, the current 32 bit version shipped from HF Signals and GigaParts is running "Buster". This version is no longer supported as of June 30, 2024. See ? The 64 bit version in this build is "Bookworm" and runs fine on all Raspberry Pi 4 platforms with the sBitx software. Please see the instructions on the release page for details. ? The link to the Pi image is stored on my Google Drive in the link.txt file. ![]() ![]() Thanks, JJ |
Re: Daylight again resurfacing
The Kits and Parts HYCAS IF amp has been installed into my partly torn apart Daylight Again and I am impressed! Per the information provide by John, KU4AF, on the amp matching of both the detector and crystal filter, was a big help. One change I HAD to make was to lower the gain of the audio pre amp that follows the detector, U4B. I reduced this to about 1/3 of the design value. Looking at the output waveform from? the audio amp, the signal is a pure sine wave with no distortion noticed. Sweet sounding audio too.
Now to layout the my construction mess to get the IF amp incorporated in the box. Again, thanks to John, KU4AF. 73 Barry K3BO |

Re: Low audio on new sbitx v3
My board has a bad and resistor going to the AF Amp. I am not at home to check the details but see </g/BITX20/topic/105501603#msg110645> You can check the voltage at the lm380 to see if this is it. Low audio on new sbitx v3
Hello. Got my new sbitx board hooked up and powered this week. I am wondering about the audio. I have tried both hooking up a speaker and also a set of earphones but the audio is not that loud, actually can barely hear anything either way with the audio turned up all the way. Using a regular speaker and a set of regular stereo earbuds. Have looked at the drop down menu for the speaker output and that's at max. Any ideas? Have looked in the online docs but can't find anything about what should be the norm for speaker. James W8ISS/r |
